The Westin Tianjin

When in Tianjin I always stay at the Westin. It is located in the city center and is convenient to major businesses in the CBD, restaurants and shopping. The rooms are contemporary and comfortable and the Italian restaurant Prego is one of the better foreign restaurants in the city; the food is well prepared, tasty and fairly priced. If your budget allows, stay on one of the executive floors and let Jenny, Arial and the rest of the team make you feel as if you are more than just a hotel guest and enjoy the super service. I have consistently had good experiences at the Westin and whether your trip is for business or pleasure, this is a good place to stay while visiting the city.

Westin Tianjin locates in very downtown of Tianjin, 40 minutes’ drive from the airport, and 10 minutes’ walk to metro station which connecting railway and airport. So, the traffic is very convenience. Also, it is quite close to many downtown office buildings which could be reach by metro such as banks, insurances and securities. If you are on a business trip, the location is perfect. But if you want to take a break or relax on weekend, this is one of the worst choices. The room is dark, small and worn out. The standard room is just less than 40 square meters. The city view side is noisy because it faces the road, and other sides face office buildings which makes you witnessed by others. The service is unstable, sometimes unpredictable if you encountered high occupancy. The average occupancy of this hotel exceeds 80%. It’s quite high so they make good money on business guests so they don’t care about other kind of guests. It is already a miracle that they could keep the room clean and the food unpoisoned. Even a platinum member as I am, I was not upgrade to suite when I book this hotel for the last time, and nobody communicate my requirements with me in advance. I felt I was not welcomed here. So, it does be the last time I choose this hotel. I checked out 5 minutes after I entered the room. It is too uncomfortable to bear. And I paid over 110 dollars for my mistake. And I have to mention that I was a long term EDM member of this hotel. Yes, was. At the beginning the service and food quality was good here, but as the time goes both aspects went worse. And once the waiter in the Italian restaurant insulted me in front of my face and my guests when I had dinner there, and I had to pay the so-called service charge afterward. If you are on business trip and want to ease your work, this hotel could be a candidate. If you pay the cost from your own pocket and looking forward to be welcomed, find some hotels else. Fortunately, there do be several much better choices nearby.

During the stay in Tianjin Westin, I felt valued and received considerate and high quality service. As a platinum member of SPG, I have been to lots of hotels but only this one is very unique. The people here is realible and warm hearted.I met a lady called Arielle Gao in the executive lounge and was impressed very much by her excellent job and guest oriented mindset. In sum,I like the stay very much and appreciate very much the guys there.

Well, if you stay for a business trip, it is what you are looking for. Cenrtal down town, nice rooms and CNN. If you are expecting Westin western standard, don't forget you are in China. Chjna is different

The hotel is perfecter than what you want. I would like to give my gratitude to Jenny (work at Lounge), who is professional, warmth and friendly. She makes a good job when I CI and stay. I love this hotel, and it would be my first choice in Tianjin. Go further, Allen who is a tall guy is perfect too.

Having stayed 3 days at their sister hotel in Beijing, which was a great experience, I was looking forward to more of the same but this hotel was a big disappointment. Superficially inviting entrance/lobby area, but it stops there. The room was poorly equipped and did not feel 'clean'. The bathroom was good though, with a lovely big walk in shower. Half equipped mini bar, tea and making facilities - well, the kettle was evident, but had to hunt for cups, coffee and tea sachets' - they were in different places. Never saw that before in any hotel I have ever stayed in. The lifts were very slow and one of them was out of order. My colleague asked to change rooms as his non smoking room reeked of stale tobacco. He was moved from a double bed room to a twin bedded room, but the stale tobacco smell was just as prevalent in that room. He will also not be staying there again. The upside is the location - it's in the heart of town so everything is very accessible and lots of restaurants and bars on the doorstep.

I stayed in room 1913 from September 2-4, that room should've been listed as Out of Order instead of released to guests. Toilet didn't flush and had to call the staff to fix the air conditioning 3 times. Not surprisingly, I didn't get the Medallia survey about my stay. My best bet is my email was either deleted or tampered with so I wouldn't receive the survey and affect the hotel's internal rankings/score. I also wasn't asked how my stay was during checkout, which is standard operating procedure. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and making up to the guest, the front office staff deals with their problems by sweeping it under the rug.

Stayed here for a work trip and wow! The entrance, rooms, hallways, everything is stunning. Staff are super friendly. Bruce on the bar was particularly helpful and friendly. He seemed really interested in us as guests. Rooms were amazing and the views were great. Gym and pool facilities were great too. Definitely recommend this hotel!

Stayed on business. The hotel was great, fortunately you could use the LAN connection as the WIFI was poor. Staff were very friendly & accommodating. There is great live entertainment in the evening. The breakfast buffet was good. Evening buffet could be better. If you do stay make sure you stay above the 10th floor so you get a good nights sleep to avoid the noise from the very busy main road.

This hotel is fine - a few good points are the excellent location within walking distance of shops and cultural areas and the very comfortable beds. Nice pool area too. Unfortunately the hotel was a little dated and many basic services such as the toilets and internet were not good. Both myself and my colleague experienced issues with these, and although my room was non smoking it smelled like it could have been a smoking room in the past. It's got a lot of potential so would look forward to seeing some renovations so it can keep up with the other 5 star business hotels in the area.
