Our visit there was fantastic! The accommodation was really good and the location of the hotel is ideal if you want a good place to spend your holidays at the center of Thessaloniki! The food was excellent and there is a big variety of dishes from which you can pick! The staff was also friendly and willing to help you!
Truly five star boutique hotel with their commitment to excellence in all details.. Very warm welcome, professional staff, unique ambiance, top notch service at all times.. That was my 4th visit to this city last week and i really enjoyed the feeling at home away from home as being my previous stays.. Hope to come again in the near future...
This is a great boutique hotel with excellent breakfast buffet and a la carte items. Great rooms and very friendly staff. We initially had some trouble with our shower, but they fixed it immediately. It is located in the center of all interesting museums and restaurants. Would certainly recommend this place!
This is a 5 star hotel very nice comfortable well located hotel. The staff are very friendly, help, prompt and accommodating. The breakfast is fantastic with a very good range, you event get a menu for about 8 egg dishes plus also pancakes, all made to order. The rooms are well appointed, compact with a nice bathroom & large shower. Robes, slippers & umbrella , there is no coffee & tea facility in room, but there is a pod coffee machine in room , cost of 2 euro per pod. First time I have seen a charge for this. The small mini bar is pact full, charged at normal hotel prices. Unfortunately this leaves no room for your own products unless you remove mini bar items. We would definitely return if in the area again & after travelling so far for a month around Greece found it the best value for money.
We loved this hotel. It has charm and class. It is in an excellent location to walk to most everything in Thessaloniki. They have a great buffet breakfast. They keep the hotel exceptionally clean. the people at the front desk are warm, friendly, and helpful. If I am ever in Greece again I will definitely go back to this hotel.
The hotel is in an excellent central location close to the old parts of the city including museums and traditional market places. The staff were excellent and went out out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We had breakfast in the hotels restaurant which offered a fantastic range of fresh food each morning. We do a lot of city breaks and this hotel with great facilities ranks high in our opinion. If we come back to Thessaloniki we would definitely stay here.
We were very fond of the hotel's location, the excellent service of the staff, the cozy and comfortable room, the bar and the restaurant, everything was perfect and looking forward to come back and stay as soon as can
We have been in four hotels in Greece, and The Excelsior has been the best. The accommodations were excellent, with nice rooms, bathroom was clean and more spacious than we’ve experienced since then. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with lots of variety and pleasant surroundings. We stayed five nights and enjoyed every one of them.
We stayed at the Excelsior in Thessaloniki’s city center for three nights during Orthodox Easter week, 2019. Renovations to the room leave something to be desired in terms of bathroom comfort, safety and privacy. Also the raggedy ultra modern rug in the room belied a five star status they have posted on the outside of the building. There was no unified bathroom. The room had a floor to ceiling glass enclosed shower on one side. The inside of the shower had nowhere to hang a towel or anything else. One has to open the shower door into the room to get one’s towel and robe. The shower also didn’t drain properly which is very annoying. The other side of the room had an enclosed sink and toilet , but the glass door to the enclosure doesn’t close all the way, hence no privacy. Two contemporary bulb lights hang over the bed that were constantly hitting us on the head when we were getting in or out of it. They have a mini cappuccino machine that you can use for 2 euros a pop; but nothing for hot water to make tea. There were two complementary bathrobes to use in the room, neither one of which fit us as they were both sized for a small woman. Yes, they gave us complementary “sweets” and a small bottle of wine because it was Orthodox Easter, but we would much rather have had a comfortable bathroom. The staff is always smiling but that doesn’t make up for the poorly designed “cold feeling” “renovated” room. I do not recommend staying there if you like a regular bathroom set up with places to put your personal stuff and privacy. Again, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well located in city center.
Our room, a Classic Double on the fourth floor was very comfortable and had a large balcony which was an unexpected bonus. Although on a busy crossroads (Komninon and Mitropoleos) with lively bars beneath, we were not affected by noise at all and slept well. The bathroom was small but adequate. The housekeeping was excellent. If I had one niggle it would be that if you wanted to use the Nespresso coffee machine you had to pay 2 euros per capsule. Not what I'd expect from a 5-star hotel! I don't know what George Clooney would have to say about it. The breakfast was extensive and very good indeed, and the staff generally were all extremely friendly and helpful. Before we came out we asked them to book some restaurants for us as well as a taxi to meet us at the airport - it being Greek Easter, we were concerned that this might be a problem. Everything was organised perfectly, for 25 euros we were met at the airport and the restaurants were all booked as requested. We would certainly return!
