Myself and my partner arrived and were surprised to see that there were no other guests. While walking around you would see 7+ staff trying to keep themselves busy not knowing what to do. The room was a nice size with a very nice view however, definitely felt dated. Even silly things like their mini fridge was empty even though there was supposed to be food in it. The lock on balcony door was broken which made us worry about the safety of our belongings. As mentioned earlier since there were no guests we felt too awkward to go to the restaurant as there was no atmosphere. When going for the breakfast everything looked like it was left out from the night before with ants crawling everywhere. I stuck to toast as I thought it would be the safest option. Moral of the story it has great potential if guests actually went and they put work in.
Very quiet resort, very out of the way but very peaceful. The front office, food & beverage and Bell/Concierge staff were provided excellent and genuine service. I had booked the incorrect date and the front off staff did their best to accommodate us with another room - I was then offered a refund on the incorrect booking despite the terms of the booking being non-refundable! There is a fantastic attitude towards guest comfort and service at this resort. The onsite transport options are limited and somewhat expensive, but this is the trade off for being in a peaceful part of Phuket Island. There was a lot of inbound tour groups at this Hotel, which I don't mind but the reception area can get quite chaotic at times, though still well managed by the staff. The rooms were generally of a high quality, we did have some little ants running around our room but not surprising as the resort is set on the edge of the jungle.
I stayed here with friends 5yrs ago after our week long Sunsail charter exploring the amazing islands. And I'm here again after another Sunsail trip! We couldn't me more pleased with Supalai...the ambience, the view, the accommodations and the staff and the price! We had made a request for 17 for dinner on the patio and they had set a beautiful banquet table for us complete with linen covered tables and chairs, fresh flowers and candles! We were able to charge drinks and dinner to our individual rooms, a challenge for the wait staff but they were happy to accommodate us. The food was delicious and well presented. To top off the evening, a full moon came up over the bay for us to enjoy and end a wonderful week in beautiful Thailand.
Spent 3 nights at this hotel, I found the people wonderful and very helpful, the food was very good and they went out of there way to make your stay a good experience. 2 really nice pools with wonderful views. This hotel is focused on tour groups from China, but they are out all day, and don't get back until 8 at night so the hotel is all yours for the day, nice and peaceful. This is a secluded hotel and its a 10 min taxi ride to the marina if you fancy a different place to have a drink or dinner. I would use again if ever in the area.
I was only here as it was a business trip and was advised by my client that the hotel would suit my needs. Sadly, I didn't check TripAdvisor, had I done so I wouldn't be writing this review. On the plus side all the staff are very friendly and helpful, although often sign language is needed. For me the major drawback is the client base. I have stayed at a few other hotels in Phuket so have become used to the mass of Chinese tourists. What set Supalai apart from the others was that every other guest, and there were a lot, were Chinese. The issue is that they are all on set itineraries and travel en masse. As a result the breakfast restaurant is bedlam until about 9:30am when they get shipped to their next tour. In the evenings they return late and go straight to their rooms and don't use the bar or restaurant. It simply feels weird being the only person in a big restaurant and equally so at the bar. Sadly, the nearest alternatives for eating are at Grand Marina which is a taxi ride away. Between times the hotel is a ghost town! As other reviewers have said the hotel is a bit dated and if you don't like wildlife don't come here. Lots of harmless tiny lizards and the odd small snake can be spotted on the way to the rooms. It didn't dawn on me until a few days in that there was a massive gap under my door which probably accounted for the mass of mosquito bites by morning. A rolled up towel solved the problem. Interestingly, the hotel obviously check on TripAdvisor reviews, and reply with the same copy and paste reply, wonder if they will do the same to mine? Bit of an indictment if they do, draw your own conclusions!
The view from your window and pool is beautiful, just stunning!! The food at the restaurant at dinner was excellent! The breakfast was ok, not amazing. Not sure Why there was a difference in quality. The accommodations were average. Clean and nice bathroom but cramped for 4 people. I would recommend only for a family that wanted a relaxing, secluded resort. No restaurants anywhere near. Need taxi to leave hotel. We stayed here with a one year old. Not that best accommodations for a child because there were no elevators and many stairs. Railings weren't built for little ones. Hotel staff were very sweet and accommodating!
We stayed at Supalai for two nights prior to a sailing trip from the nearby Ao Po marina. The hotel is focused on tour groups from China so is busy late at night and early morning and otherwise seemed deserted. The hotel and rooms are in generally shabby condition, service is haphazard, food is truly appalling. Read the other reviews on here for more detail (unfortunately I didn't before booking...lesson learnt)
Location in the middle of nowhere is ok for a quiet family holiday but the hotel seems geared to package tours so it's anything but quiet when a delivery of new guests pour out of the buses... Hotel is tired, down at heel, high on a hill so not good for walks or sightseeing on foot (nothing to see in the area anyway). Room decor tired; I had to ask to be moved as my room featured stains on the bedspread, a grubby bathroom and cigarette butts on the balcony...
We only stayed here for one night. We wanted to catch an early ferry the next day. The staff were very friendly and although their English wasn't good we managed to arrange ferry transfers, check in and checkout with no problems and a lot of smiles. The room was nice....nothing special but clean and airy with a beautiful view. The pool area is lovely and there are two tiny gymnasiums. There didn't seem to be much to see locally but if you want a quiet hotel for a couple of nights before setting off for the islands this is ideal.
Worst Hotel I've ever stayed in, in my WHOLE LIFE! I'll list the problems 1.) ONE PERSON in the whole facility can speak English 2.) WE GOT FOOD POISONED. I REPEAT WE WERE "FOOD POISONED" and was throwing up for 5 days 3.) You wont see Phuket at all if you stay here. VERY VERY VERY FAR from everything 4.) In the middle of a jungle so the hotel is full of frogs, angry bees, every wall has at least 5 lizards and we even saw one laying eggs. 5.) Our room was full of ants. There were ants going up our drain in our sink, ants on our table, ants in the closet. Ants ants ants!!!! 6.) The wifi? was so slow. slower than an airport wifi. not only that but you have to log back in every time your phone goes on lock even if you keep pushing the remember me button. 7.) And lastly its over priced for one night because I really wouldnt pay more than 1 dollar to stay here. Oh and the private beach? Oh lord please don't go it is so frightening and almost cut myself because there were so much broken glass. Staying here almost ruined our whole trip. Do not let it happen to you PS: Our room was the Deluxe Sea Front facing view.
