We stayed in a villa with a pool and given it was our anniversary they surprised us with treats and sparkling wine. The pool in the fist villa we stayed had some problems, immediately they moved us to another villa which was perfect. The resort is full surprising features. The touch of nature with the perfect view, created a calming and relaxing atmosphere. However the best part of the resort was the gastronomic experience. Our palate was spoilt by the head chef Jonathan Bruell. He is a hidden gem and the meals were so well planned and it was better than some Michelin star restaurants. The problems we encountered, was a lack of activity for young children in the play room. We were looking forward to sailing unfortunately it was damaged but Kayaking was free. Otherwise the beach and the water was clean. It is a perfect location to unwind.
However Agust was not the great time to visit, we had great time with nature and perfect ocean. You can feed the elephants and have trip with them. Also the nature is perfect you feel as newborn with full of oxygen. Ocean is nice to swim, hote is authentic, you can benefit from both special swimming pool and shared one. If tou want to see amazing tropical nature you should go that place,, please do not forget january-february are the Times to visit.
The beach, food , people everything was perfect! Also looking at other hotels around Phuket ,this one in my opinion is very private and peaceful its not crowded and is situated on a private island, if you are situated on the main island you might find the crowd a bit overwhelming. So if you are looking for a relaxing holiday this hotel will definitely live up to your expectations.
Located at the small island named Naka (dragon). 10 min by speed boat from Phuket pier and 40 min taxi from the airport to this pier. Private bungalows are very spacious, made it traditional way and have everything what you may need. Good spa and restaurants are expensive, as expected - you are on the island. The beach and facilities are good. If you are on honeymoon or on vacation with your couple when you seek most privacy - it's a right place.
Booking the Naka island is definitely the best decision for my trip. I spent 3 nights there. The island is quite private that makes you feel very relax. The quite helps you to slow down and feel the peace. The room is very large for 2 person, comfy with good decoration. The environment is perfect, and all equipment are well maintained. So you have many choices for how you spend your days. Like renting a bike, and riding on the island outside the hotel is a good experience for someone like “mountain bike cycling”. lol. For other choices, you’ve got different lessons like Cocktail Mixer, Yoga and Pilates etc, and the swimming pool is so beautiful that you will pay a visit even if you don’t know how to swim. In addition, for the food, there is only two restaurant on the island. However, they are quite good, and have many different type of food, so it is not gona be too boring. And, don’t miss the breakfast, the grilled salmon is free in the morning, remember to try it.
Hi there ... To all the couples or families. If you looking for silence + luxury+ nature in one island , well naka is the perfect place to be . Just minutes a way from Phuket.. in you are there. Rooms - are perfect View - amazing Infinity pool- great Service - the best Beach- must go to naka yai ( you can go with bicycle) Breakfast- lovely Spa - wow Naka all you need for perfect vacation.
Upon our arrival at the jetty of the resort, no one was there to greet us. We had to walk to the reception. The buggies were late to pick us up. We don't mind walking actually but that day, it was raining and we had two infants with us. Our first dinner at Tonsai Restaurant, the waiter weren't happy to see us and told us straight away to make reservation the next time we plan to dine there as we were a big group number of people according to him. Prior to our arrival, the reservation manager informed us that all the restaurants menu are pork-free. We were surprised to find there a quite number of dish with pork in the menu. I'm not sure whether you guys are aware of Muslim's sensitivity or not. And some of the staff informed us that other meats are halal certified but some informed us they weren't. We chose to be safe and had seafood dishes only. On our second day, we were supposed to go on fishing trip and island tour. It was raining since early morning. We planned to cancel it due to weather condition but your staff insisted us to do it anyway for the reason that the resort had prepared everything and it was impossible if we wanted to get refund upon cancellation. The traditional long boat provided was in bad condition. Rain was pouring heavily and we weren't given any safety jacket to wear and again, the condition of the boat wasn't suitable at all for the weather condition with the infants onboard. Worried for our safety, after only 30 minutes at the sea, we asked the boat driver to send us back to the resort but had difficulty to let him know as he barely could understand English language. Weren't a staff from the resort should have joined that trip too??? There are lots that need to be improved. Food at breakfast buffet, you guys should have labelled the ones with pork. We accidentally had pork dim sum after asking the kitchen staff few times and they confidently told us those were shrimp dim sum. Even the chef wasn't sure when we asked him about the dim sum. That was too much. After that incident, we had to get food from outside. I am sure you guys have had Muslim guests at the resort before and it was unforgivable to let such thing happened to your guests. We've been to luxury resorts before and never encountered such problems. It was hard to get my whole family together as each and everyone of us have tight schedule, we thought we would have enjoyed our short stay at The Naka Island Resort unfortunately it turned out to be the most awful experience in our lives.
It’s my 3rd time here and the 4th time coming soon again. For me it’s a paradise , but that’s only my opinion. It’s a quiet place , 2 main restaurants and a Bar, for others you need to leave the island by boat , takes 5 min to the mainland. From there you need a taxi with 30 min to the party places and shopping miles, if you need . I prefer to stay here and enjoy the perfect quiet place with my own pool on the Villa.
Background: SPG Platinum and Hilton Diamond. A brief one night stay to sample Naka Island. I would recommend at least 2 night stay to fully maximise experience at this property. Private complimentary speedboat from Ao Po Grand Marina is very good and luxurious, albeit 1hr transfer needed from center of Phuket fro and back. The property was grand, and only a handful of villas. All rooms are villa type, and most have private pool. My recomm is to choose Seaview Villa to avoid mosquitos and many other small insects found in standard Tropical Villa facing bushes/jungle. I had a Tropical Villa and the design is simply unique, think Flintstone houses with round edges and quirky separate bathroom from bedroom, with steam room. Nice. As other travellers mentioned, do not go here if you are a city boy or girl freaking out whenever you see tropical insects as you WILL come accross them at some point of your stay. I had a 3inch spider hiding underneath my girl's suitcase in the room which surprised us to say the least, and a house lizard/gecko not harmful in any way but may surprise you as well. Bigger spider spotted outside the bathroom, but not inside. Plenty of ants in outside sala and pool, and mosquitoes. And I can't see how the hotel can eliminate them entirely due to its bush/jungle facing, so manage your expectation accordingly. As said, property facilities are top notch and luxurious. Do spend time at the pool with free floaties and coconut ice cream. Nice on hot days. Expect some walking since the villas are spread out and you will need to walk to pool/restaurant/beach. Again, not recommended for you city brats although you can call up buggies. But Perfect for nature lovers. Note for property: came knowingly ahead that higher room category is available prior to arrival (checked during speedboat transfer to resort, that is) but flatly denied Platinum room upgrade with the usual "sorry no room upgrade, all room is booked". Well, please understand that we do have SPG App to check if indeed a room is available or all sold out. If you're not going to upgrade, please tell your staff to come up with better excuse such as "higher category room is under renovation" or some sort, rather than insulting our intelligence. Did not insist and/or pointed the fact that higher category room is available, for me it's either you sincerely want to treat Platinums well or not.. rather than we beg for what should be ours at the get go already.. No lounge for Platinums, but cocktails are available at the lovely Z Bar with gorgeous sunset facing limecast islands. Must visit! Conclusion: visit to get away from Phuket but manage a low expectation for Platinum benefit and you'll have a nice stay. Oh don't forget about the small insects. Make sure you're up for them. Stayed at Le Meridien Phuket and Westin Siray as well during my visit so check my other reviews if you want to compare.
This resort offered the most amazing views and exclusive compounds, incredibly designed for an earthy yet luxurious feel. I especially loved the private pool, lounge area and four post bed. I also really liked that the bathroom was in a completely separate hut away from the bedroom. The private beach provided was a nice treat, and it's also quite wonderful to take a boat to and from the island with a good cart picking you up from the dock. This hotel really thought of everything to spoil it's guests. One of the most memorable parts of this hotel was the amazing pool that offered lounge chairs in the shallow end of the pool. The visual effect of that was stunning and I still think about that image in my head when I think Thailand.
