Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Tell City2.5 out of 5.0

We recently went to Holiday World and were looking for a hotel that was close. There is very little in the immediate vicinity to Santa Claus. This fit the bill. It was about a twenty minute drive and a portion of the drive was on the banks of the Ohio River. Staying in Tell City offers a couple advantages to staying in Santa Claus. There are multiple fast food places and a CVS pharmacy. The stay was very nice and you can eat before you go to the park.
In all my stays in hotels across the states this has got to be the worst staffed hotel ever... The staff did not care about any issues and was caught in lies... The desk staff should be fired and new ones who care be hires For a better stay travel across the bridge and travel toward Owensboro...
Good hotel, clean, updated and great breakfast that was kept well stocked throughout both busy mornings. They only have 2 cribs and both were taken which wasn't surprising because it seemed that everyone we met was a family headed to holiday world. This would have been no big deal had I not called the prior day and they told me they had 3 and they hardly ever run out. I would have just brought a pack and play. Of course, when I checked in they acted like "I don't know who you talked to" however the woman I spoke with in advance sounded very knowledgeable. As a result, my 19 month old spent both nights running around the room like a crazy person :). They were able to bring a cot and were very apologetic. In the future, they just need to be honest when people call in advance because they are probably calling for a reason. And get more cribs for a family hotel. No other complaints and we had a very nice stay.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights this past summer. The room and bathroom were very clean and looked very cozy. The only thing was the tv only had two working channels, the fridge didn't work, and house keeping was at our door at 7am everyday. And they basically beat on the door. But the pool was nice and the whole hotel was very clean.
Was in the area to visit my son who is working an internship. Not many options in this small town, but the Holiday Inn Express was spot-on. Nice, clean rooms. Comfortable beds. In a quiet area of town. Good breakfast. I had an issue with my reservation that was my fault, the hotel staff was very understanding and helpful.
A overnight getaway. The hotel looks great. Check in was fine. However the door was hard to open after putting in the key, the tub drain was very slow allowing water to stand in the tub while showering. Picked up the phone to make a call noticed the cradle was very dirty and the only buttons that work was the 'quick touch' to the front desk which no one answered because she was outside smoking. Never had a morning meal at a HIE served on flimsy paper plates. Food was ok though. Just seems to be a management that is cutting corners and doing just enough to keep the franchise. It was clean other then the phone cradle.
Room was clean, beds were comfortable, breakfast included was very good. Hotel was quiet and is in a quiet area which made for a good sleep. Great place to stay in an off the beaten path town. Had an issue with the reservation which was my error hotel staff was very understanding and quick to help me resolve.
We got a room at this hotel for 2 nights. We have stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses so thought this one would be nice as the rest of them we have stayed at. Wrong! Walked into our room and first thing we see is a pair of underwear laying by the bed. I take it down to the front desk and don't even get an apology. The front desk lady just said, "I know the room was cleaned. Guess I will give you a different room. Better to be safe than sorry." So we got a different room. (which was clean) The toilet was clogged the whole time. Asked for it to be fixed twice. The maintenance guy "fixed" it once and right after he left nothing would go down. So we had to use the one down in the lobby the whole time. The water for taking showers was NOT warm..loved the cold showers! (NOT!) The pool was about the size of a couple bathtubs put together and they had NO hot tub. Also we went down to eat breakfast at 9 am one day (They go until 9:30) and all the food was hard and cold. Not impressed at all! Never got our beds made or our garbage changed. The housekeeper just knocked on our door and handed my daughter a huge stack of towels. We were on our spring break vacation so our next destination was the Wisconsin Dells. Stayed in a Holiday Inn Express there and it was completely different! Very nice hotel there! Don't waste your money on the one in Tell City! It was awful!
We just spent the last two evenings and I cannot begin to say enough good things. I reviewed this hotel before with high praise and I'm doing it again. We have family that travel four hours and we like to meet up at this hotel for our get together. The front desk check out… Jen, was very friendly even though she was bombarded with phone calls and other guests needs while checking me in she still made our needs feel important. As usual our room and tidy and very clean. In the evenings we tend to congregate in the the main dining area that has comfortable chairs and a comfortable sofa with a big screen television and if that wasn't enough we were baked hot fresh cookies every evening about 530 6 o'clock! Our evening shift clerk was Samantha, and Samantha was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure that our needs were met. I would also like to make a comment about how great the morning breakfast was and The lady that attended to that was extremely helpful and very friendly. Tell city is very lucky to have this hotel. We visit often and each time we visit we truly do feel like we are at home.
Clean, friendly. A car alarm started going off in the middle of the night. My guess, not exaggerating, is that it cycled 10 - 12 times before morning. Isn't this a reason why car info is gathered when you check in--so management can contact guests if there is a problem with their car. Two other items--the HVAC is sketch and the high speed Internet is anything but.
