the hotel is nice, the room is poor and dirty. the location is greate.

The room itself was nice, but the hallways and much of the hotel other than the room and lobby are in disrepair. Hotel staff were particularly slow with their service (check in, check out, responding to a request in the room) and weren't particularly friendly. Breakfast was lovely, and the proximity to the beach was nice.

I stayed 11 nights. The Shizen room has original, interesting design, with a few flaws such as because of the design, there is no 2nd night table. Bed was too soft. View of the Mediterranean is spectacular. Pool is great and access to the beach great. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. However, it is difficult to maintain a property by the sea and Daniel is not doing a great job of it. The physicality seems somewhat neglected with chipping paint here and there, elevators that you need to push the button 3 times for it to respond, etc. Another curious thing is that the wait staff in the restaurant are very good at clearing tables, cleaning up, but fairly non-responsive and certainly don't seek you out for basic things like serving coffee. So, while we enjoyed the food, we were frustrated by the service.
