The beach is a long twenty minute hike from the hotel, on a very dirty road of red clay and big sharp pointed rocks. Pot holes galore! While walking to the beach a sharp rock poked through my flip flop and punctured my foot. You will definitely need hiking boots for that walk. Once you get back from the beach you will have to wash off your shoes, not to get the sand off, but to remove the red clay and dirt. Despite being so far from the beach, the hotel is situated in a lovely tropical area with lots of birds visiting throughout the day. The room was lovely. Very modern and comfortable, just like in the pictures. Our room overlooked the pool and it was very quiet and we slept great. Adults only was really nice. The breakfast starts at 8:00 AM and when I showed up at 7:59 the manager of the hotel gave me a hard time. I recommend the hotel starting breakfast at 7:00 AM and to calm down a little. Aside from the foot injury from out hike to the beach, we did enjoy our stay. We would not recommend Tamarindo though, because of the dusty ,pot holed, dirt roads, and the huge crowds. People like Tamarindo, because of the many restaurants and bars to chose from, but for us we didn't like the huge crowds. We did enjoy Longboards Sports bar though. They have the best Smoked BBQ we have ever had. Smoked with tropical wood.

The hotel was modern and very clean. No kids and not many guest. It was very relaxing and quiet. The manager of the property was a little uptight though. I was shoked that she asked me to leave the restaurant when I showed up for breakfast 1 minute early. Breakfast starts at 8:00 am and I showed up at 7:59 and she got a little bent out of shape. The hotel is situated on a very dusty dirt road about a 20 minute walk to the beach. When I say dirt, I mean really nasty clay and big sharp rocks. Lots of pot holes too. Also, the beach is extremely crowded, especially on weekends when all of the locals come down from San Jose. We went to eat at Lola's and that is a wonderfull beach, but I never want to see Tamarindo again. Too crowded! It's like spring break beach with lots of partying college aged kids with dust and dirt everywhere.

Marie and her staff were great. Very attentive and nice. The location is great with easy access to the beach and restaurant and shops.

We had such a wonderful time during our time at Tamarindo Bay! Marie was so helpful in helping us plan some activities and gave wonderful recommendations. Everything was incredibly clean and well-kept, and the rooms and property were nice and quiet. We will be coming back again soon!

Very nice resort! Tamarindo is about an 1 hour and 15 minute drive (Southwest to the Pacific) from the Liberia Airport. About a 5 minute walk from the beach and the restaurant, stores and shopping in Tamarindo.

Beautiful, unique property. Very quiet and serene. Beautifully decorated. The breakfast every morning was very filling and delicious. Very friendly employees and owners. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants and beaches to go to. I loved it here and I’d love to come back.

Excelente atención, lugar tranquilo y muy lindo! Recomendado

Great spot! Excellent service and very accomodating

Cozy, modern and very zen! Very clean sheets/towels were comfy and hotel was eco friendly (clothes line for guests, real cups/plates, cloth napkins). We enjoyed the outdoor seating/lounging- & the pool-every night. The pictures on their website are very accurate. it was like an oasis once you stepped inside the gate. We had a standard king room on the first floor, that had a ceiling fan and a/c. Room was large, as was the bathroom. The staff was very accommodating- if you need something, just ask! They take time to remember names of guests- something you wouldn't get in a big hotel. Marie, Bathsheba and Manuel arranged taxis, excursions and restaurant reservations for us. They were very knowledgeable about the area- and every recommendation was a positive experience! We enjoyed the breakfast everyday- omelets and banana bread were great! We borrowed a cooler and beach chairs (which weren't too comfy for a whole day at the beach). They only had a couple of coolers, so grab when you first check in if you can. The location was a quick 10 min walk to the beach- with restaurants and grocery stores even closer.

Quiet and peaceful. The atmosphere was very ZEN and I enjoyed it.

Very well kept property, would def. stay again, all the staff were extremely friendly. Close walk to everything yet far enough from all the noise off the strip. Also a nice touch that the property is eco friendly

Excellent staff, excellent room, fun outdoor shower, beautiful pool, good value!

Close enough to walk anywhere, but far enough from town to escape the hustle and busle of tamarindo.

Thank you Ronnie for taking the time to write not one but two reviews! We appreciate your enthusiasm and have copied our response to you once again, below.. Hello Ronnie, Thank you for for taking the time to write about your experience at Tamarindo Bay Boutique Hotel. We are located on a quiet road approximately 8 minutes away from the beach. Tamarindo, unfortunately , does not boast many paved roads but that is part of the rustic charm of our seaside town. I personally swapped out my high heels for flip flops eighteen years ago when I moved here from Hong Kong, and have not looked back. But of course, it's always better to be prepared with appropriate foot wear when you travel. We take great pride in being able to delight our guests with our well appointed, clean and fresh dining terrace every morning and this requires some time and effort by our cleaning staff, as it is an open area that tends to get dusty overnight. We do communicate to all our guests, both at Check In, as well as through our In Room Guest Services Guide that breakfast times are fixed between 8 am and 10 am. We apologise that you did not receive this information during your stay. On this day, we were trying to finish up preparations at the time you arrived, and so we let you know service starts at 8am. We continued to hurry through our preparations while trying our best not to disturb you. We would not ask a guest to leave the dining area, even if they did arrive early. We always work around them. Always. Without fail. So,we apologise most sincerely if it appeared to you that we did. We are happy you enjoyed the facilities at the hotel. Having lived in Tamarindo for nearly two decades, we completely understand that you did not enjoy the area during what is, traditionally our High/Peak season. We have a variety of visitors including young backpackers, surfers and local Costa Ricans who are here to enjoy their beautiful beaches and soak in the sun. We welcome them all! We love sharing this slice of Paradise and we hope you will consider returning, during a quieter time of the year perhaps, to give the town another chance!
