Excellent location, 1 min walk from JR and bus station, good place for transit. We went to Kamikochi from there. All the scenic are within walking distance. We paid extra to get a bigger room, breakfast is below average.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Standard room, not large, basic furniture and equipment.medium level . Clean, good service. Excellent location near Takayama Station. 2 minutes walk.Overall a good solution for a night to two, without expectations to a high level of room.OK.

One block from the station and within easy walk of markets, shops and restaurants. Staff were friendly and happy to answer my questions. If all you want is a clean room and comfortable beds (I stayed in a twin with 2 double beds) this ticks all the boxes. Personally I recommend you take the rate without breakfast. Had a very good massage for a very reasonable price.

It's location just across the station and close to the bus stand and other restaurants is its strong point ... large rooms too . Friendly and helpful staff who guided us on how to do Shirakawago and Hida ....

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is ideal. It's just a few minutes walk from the station and bus station, and because Takayama is so compact most of the main sights are a short walk in the other direction. There are restaurants, cafés and bars nearby. All the staff we encountered were friendly and attentive, and checking in and out were fast. Our room was compact but well designed, so there was room for our cases plus space to relax. The wifi was fast, and we enjoyed the spa (remember to take the towel from your room!) The included breakfast was a great spread. You can choose to book a traditional Japanese breakfast, which we found fun and tasty. Note that, unlike many similar hotels in Japan, this hotel does not have a coin laundry.

The hotel is located 2 minutes away from Takayama train station and is the perfect spot if you plan to visit the city for two days. The rooms are spacious and modern. The bed is comfortable, but the bathroom is rather small and fully made of plastic materials, with shower curtain. The breakfast is average. Overall good hotel but quite expensive given the bathroom and quality of the breakfast. However good location if you travel by train!

Great location, so close to train and bus stations.Large room - twin share with comfortable beds. Friendly and helpful staff at the reception ( thank you for my chook). We had a breakfast included in the price and had a choice for western or Japanese. We opted for the Japanese one and it was a treat. Beautifully presented and very tasty. (see the photo)

We had a fine experience here for our two nights in Takayama, contrary to some of the reviews I read. The room is a normal size for a Japanese hotel room, and we had no complaints. The only English TV channel is CNN in case you're interested, but who needs it when the spring sumo tournament is going on?! We could see the snow-capped peaks from our room. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurant, which was packed with Westerners, or go to happy hour (5-7 pm for ¥500 drinks and snacks, which is not a great deal) as the room seemed spare and cheerless. We did have massages at "Happy Hands" on the second floor (cash only), which were excellent if you like Japanese-style massage. The foot massage was wonderful after a long day of walking and hiking. The prices are very low compared to where we live.

This hotel has a great location, right downtown and 3 minute walk to the train station. We had a nice size room which was very clean and comfortable with two queen size beds. Had CNN on the TV and very fast wifi. Excellent shower. There is a restaurant right off the lobby. Breakfast is included in the rate. You can walk to several of the sights in town. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This hotel is what you would expect of a Best Western. Clean and reasonable standard. Well located close to the railway station and about 10-15 minutes walk to the old town. Plenty of restaurants close by. The hotel has been recently refurbished. We had a double standard room. The side of the bed was pushed against the wall, but there was enough room to push it across a little to allow access on both sides. However, every day the cleaner pushed it back again. You'd think they would have got the message. Who wants to be clambering over the other person to go to the loo in the middle of the night. The bathroom was small with a low ceiling, making it quite claustrophobic. However, at less than $240 Australian dollars for room and a buffet breakfast for two, it's good value. I thought breakfast was fine with a choice of both hot and cold dishes. There was also an option of a Japanese breakfast where you were served in a private dining room. Interesting experience to try!
