The Langham, Sydney5.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed at the Langham twice now, and each time is consistent - the service is wonderful, the food, the location and the stay has been wonderful! I highly recommend the hotel to those visiting Sydney - it's a home away from home - not a huge high rise, very warm and friendly. The decor is beautiful, the flowers in the entrance always beautiful and the elegant vibe is appreciated and tasteful.
We stayed here for a birthday celebration and it is a beautiful hotel in a great location about 15 mins walk from the centre of the city. It is surrounded by lots of beautiful eateries and historic hotels and venues. The hotel itself is elegance personified. Our room was very generous in size with a massive king bed, oversized bathroom, more marble than ever which is fun! and a small lounge and desk area complement the generous size. The room was quiet and very well appointed with a turn-down service in the evening.
Excellent service, staff were very friendly and accommodation, was warm and comfortable, rooms were great and food wonderful. Cannot fault the overall experience. perfect location. Nothing else to say the hotel was great
Located in a quieter part of Sydney and perfect for an anniversary weekend stay. Understated facade for The Langham Sydney hides classic romance and elegant decor as soon as the doorman leads you in with a welcome. On the left boasts dining at The Palm and the famous weekend afternoon tea with Wedgwood accompanied by soothing background entertainment from a good grand pianist certainly transports one back into the era of English luxury; be it romance, an afternoon gathering of friends, or a business meeting. To the right upon entry is the lobby presented like a child's wonderland (but also appealing to an adult) with a table full of colourful lollies. Checking in is a pleasant experience with friendly and helpful staff who would do everything they can to accommodate special requests including communicating with an efficient housekeeping team to cater for early check-ins. As I arrived very early to leave our luggages in storage until the room was ready (while my husband was completing his day of business meetings), I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an early check-in. Being shown to the room was an old-fashion service I haven't encountered anywhere in Australia. That was the beginning of a long list of things that The Langham presented that are likely only offered in modern hotels if you paid 5 times more (or maybe not due to modernism). We had a room at the top floor with balcony views of the bay and Barangaroo. A balcony with potted plants were noted bonus. The beauty of the bays of Sydney took our breath away, even if it was not views of Sydney Harbour Bridge or Opera House. It is a nice luxury just being able to have a cup of tea on the balcony with fresh air, or catching on work or reading a book, and admiring the views. Room is more spacious than the average modern hotel, bed is as good and comfortable as ours. The seating area with armchairs are truly classy and colours that appeals. The theme of pink is subtle so for one who isn't crash hot on pink, the presentation was mainly crisp white, and accentuated with classic colours. One more bonus is the ability to control room lights from either side of the bed. Many modern hotels only allow controls on one side. The list goes on. A brolly in case of rainy days. Double set of toiletries, double shower, double toilet roll holders, iron and hairdryers stored in cloth bag. The bath is longer, wider and deeper than most hotels - that is a bonus. Gym and indoor pool is well set up. We could have stayed in our room all weekend, but being young and able we were keen to explore Barangaroo which was only a skip and hop away. 3mins down the road are options of western, chinese, japanese, indian food. Guests won't need to go to The Rocks for meals. 8 minutes down Kent St towards Barangaroo is a cute cafe called Bitter & Twisted that rated very well on TripAdvisor and has good coffee. Down a steep stairs is a 10mins walk to the new strip of eateries along the Barangaroo wharf. Across the road from The Langham is a tennis court and a stair takes guests up to Observatory Hill and park which is has amazing views of Sydney Harbour Bridge. KIV for Vivid Sydney 2018 - is a very private park that offers more romantic views of tourists attractions without josling with throng of tourists to grab your photos. For non-Vivid season, ask Concierge to help you organise a picnic basket and champagne on warmer months for you to enjoy on Observatory Hill. Alternative is an 8mins walk from The Langham to the wharf where guests can book for a sail/dinner tour on a tall ship. It is the best way to enjoy Vivid Sydney as it sails under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and up close to the Sydney Opera House. Again without having to go elbow to elbow with tourists on land to grab your photos, and you can admire the lights much closer. I believe that guests could also borrow pink bicycles from the hotel to ride around, but we didn't get to do that this trip. Saved for next trip. Also, heads up that the Chuan Spa is very popular and we missed getting an appt as a result of our lack of planning ahead to book the treat prior to checking in. Thanks to the Langham Group, for keeping classic romance alive.
We booked this hotel from San Francisco not knowing anything of the area or the Hotel Brand. We arrived late and the immediate impression of the hotel was amazing. The hotel was very cute, modern, and most of all it smelled amazing. Within the front desk is a complimentary candy buffet that we indulged in. The front desk was very accommodating and the room was very nice. The bed itself was huge and the details of the furnishings and style of the room was modern contemporary. The entire hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast buffet was incredible and rivaled any Las Vegas Breakfast Buffets we've been to. The next time we are in Sydney, we are definitely staying here.
Very good service. Beautiful rooms and views. Very pleased with the rooms, quality and comfort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lunch in palm court was very enjoyable. Only drawback is location (a bit of a walk from key areas)
Could not fault anything about this hotel. It was perfect in every way. Location is quiet, food first class, staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very tastefully furnished and decorated and kept in a pristine manner. We will certainly return to this hotel on our next trip to Sydney. Would definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
This was simply not for us. Too boring, too sterile, too old school. My partner took me there for a special occasion and it was the worst $700 we ever spent for a night. Nothing was particularly wrong but we just didn’t have fun. This is an old people’s place. Dinner at night was really disappointing, the hotel was like a ghost town where everyone escaped from and seemed to make their way to nearby Barangaroo for dinner. We went there and it was really good. Went to a Turkish restaurant that was awesome (just don’t remember the name of it). Overall for the price we didn’t get the experience we expected and I wouldn’t spend our hard earned money in this place again. Time to evolve Langham Sydney, it’s 2017, not 1950!
My mum and my daughter and I visited Sydney for Kinky Boots and stayed at the Langham. The hotel was excellent, service was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and the room was lovely and very comfortable.
When arriving at the Langham Hotel, I stepped into a Barbara Cartland novel, ---and traveled back into a time where ladies where treated with respect, courtesy and old-fashioned thoughtfulness. But do not be misled into thinking the decor matched, as it was absolutely beautiful, tasteful expensive furnishings, and we were looked after by a team of professionals, who would collectively be honored to be called a " house boy" -- turned down the bed with chocolates, and placed slippers at the bedside. The concierge staff was absolutely amazing, and knew our names from the first day, and greeted us personally and respectfully. The indoor pool was absolutely gorgeous, and stripped tension from knotted muscles. We stayed during the time of VIVID, and lollies were free on arrival for our delight. It was our 35th Wedding anniversary, and we were treated to a beautiful personalized box of chocolates, plus a free fruit and bonbon plate. I cannot express to you how absolutely marvellously I found this place, and I hopefully shall always stay if I return to Sydney. It is within walking distance of both The Rocks and Darling Harbour, -- the situation could not have been better. There was an old fashioned taxi, and also the Langham is pet-friendly. Thank you Langham staff for a truly unique and memorable experience. My favorite color is pink. Love you.
