The security in handing your keys to the Valet at the Langham Sydney is a TOTAL myth. I slept believing my immaculate vehicle was also enjoying downtime in the security of the Hotel carpark below and not being hooned around the streets or being maliciously damaged. Reality struck shortly after 10.00am the following morning – the boot/trunk was opened and the fumes of chemicals were escaping from a can of etching primer that was left in the boot/trunk with the knowledge of the Valet who gladly accepted my keys the previous evening. Obviously, the can had impacted with the back of the rear seat whilst in the control of the hotel. Opening the door also released the stench and liquid oozed onto the floor and had filled the cup holders in the rear console – this was cleaned by the hotel staff before departure. Duty management accepted liability and asked for quotes which were provided and met with a denial of responsibility by Gaylord Lama the general manager who implied that I had staged the incident. Yet and maybe conveniently could only provide CCTV coverage of the departure and not arrival. My vehicle is now a Statutory write off and my loss not that of the hotel.
Location: Located in the heart of Sydney, the hotel is within walking distance of the Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Rocks and The Botanical Gardens. Go to the Botanical Gardens for a great view of the Opera House ad bridge. General: I highly recommend the hotel Check in was fast and efficient. We were greeted with a smile and people were helpful in answering our questions. In fact, we found most of the Australians we interacted with were very polite and helpful. Reception Area: The reception area is decent sized for this style hotel with plenty of room to sit down and meet people. There’s dining in the hotel and they do provide a nice area for meals, though its not free Room: We were on he 1st floor (technically the 2nd floor for those from the U.S.). There was a funky mildew/mold smell in the hallway, but the room was not affected. The rooms are large and comfortable, though the work area could use better lighting and more outlets. The bed (a king) and pillows were comfortable. The room was clean with overall good lighting and plenty of outlets. Storage was great! The room was quiet and the blackout curtains were very effective. The bathroom was large sized with two sinks and was appointed nicely. The shower was very nice with great pressure and very clean. There was also a tub. The room has a coffee maker and bottles of water. Everything worked in the room. Food: The food was better than average for a hotel. We had afternoon tea, which was just okay, though the tea selection is fine. They need some work on their finger sandwiches and elimination of a lot of small fruit flies (or something similar). We also had breakfast at the hotel. There were plenty of options on the buffet, though you could order off a menu. Amenities: We did not have time to use the amenities, but have to give a shout out to the outstanding concierge team. Very helpful in all sorts of ways and they appeared happy to assist us. Runners, you are in for a treat. Leave the hotel and turn left. Go until you hit the piers and turn right. Follow the piers until you hit the botanical gardens and run through those until you reach the other side. Turn around and you have fantastic views of the opera house and Sydney Harbor Bridge. Thanks. I would like to thank the hotel. We had two stays scheduled at this hotel. After our first stay we ended up with a family emergency and needed to cancel our second stay even though we had a non-refundable room. Not only did the hotel cancel the reservation for us, but the concierge also helped cancel our other reservations. Check in My reservations was accurate. The check-in process was efficient. The check-in staff was good. Guest Room My room was clean and comfortable. My room was furnished appropriately. My bed and bedding was comfortable. The room was quiet and large. Guest Staff The guest staff was prompt and reliable. The guest staff was knowledgeable. Housekeeping staff – my room was clean and had all amenities Food and Dining Food was good. We did not use the amenities other than the concierge. Check out The check-out process was timely and efficient. I received a complete and accurate bill. Room Tip: all rooms seem to be quiet and comfortable. Our had a view of the harbor and some buildings under construction.
I arrived to find out that due to some system issue my reservation wasn't saved in their system. But it wasn't an issue for Julia (not sure of her name) she has been reactive and solved the issue in less than 2 minutes. Then Keni, a lovely French therapist took care of my treatment. I have been impressed by her professionalism. One of the best treatments I ever had. They definitely turned a oups to a big WOW!
We really like Langham hotels and this one the best of all. My wife was getting sick and running a fever. She took over-the-counter medication but she was only getting worse. So we called the front desk, asked for a hotel doctor and within 20 minutes this delightful Scottish doctor appeared. She diagnosed my wife's condition and gave enough doses of real drugs that she had in her bag, to carry us through our vacation. She felt 100% better the next day. You won't get that in an Air B & B!!
We stayed only one night, however it was a very relaxing experience. Being a smaller boutique hotel, service was very personal, and we felt we were the only people around. The pool was a bit cold for us, otherwise it was great.
We enjoyed our stay at the Langham. After an initial problem with our room we were immediately taken care of above and beyond. The hotel rooms are beautiful, the design is comfortable and fresh, with nice amenities and details. The service was exceptional, from the front desk to the porters, to the staff at the breakfast, everyone was friendly and professional. The lobby and breakfast/lunch spaces are also very nice. The morning breakfast had plenty of good a la carte choices and an outstanding buffet. The spa/pool area is in the basement, with no natural light, if felt claustrophobic and we ended up not making use of the facilities. The area is very convenient, close enough to the Rocks, the Opera... but without being right in the middle of it. We enjoyed our walks from the hotel in the cobble streets and were happy to be close enough but not in the center of it all.
There's some bistro and cafe around the area, It takes about 30 minutes walk to Pitt street, I love the breakfast from the Splendid, which is just a few step from the hotel. Bad things are the traffic was too busy , spend too much times on the road.
Without exaggeration, this hotel is perfect. The room is the most beautifully styled hotel room I have ever stayed in. Everything is top quality, including the furniture, flooring, artwork etc. The staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly. We were made to feel welcome the entire stay. The location is also excellent, a 5-10 minute stroll to Circular Quay. Highly recommended, gorgeous hotel.
We were blown away by the room: the view through the window when you entered the living room, the terrace off the bedroom... every aspect was fantastic. We both agreed this was the finest hotel experience we have ever had (just edging out our stay at the Langham in Pasadena a few years back). Everyone we spoke with was exceedingly kind and welcoming.
We experienced ambiance of the Langham Hotel during a visit to Auckland and we were most impressed with the surrounding elegance and service. Sydney didn't disappoint. here are three levels of rooms, with dining and breakfast rooms on the Ground Floor and a well equipped exercise room in the basement. Also a very large pool and spa. The food is excellent and the breakfast menu is extensive. Continental breakfast $34 and Australian breakfast $45. There is valet parking at $60/day. Dining room has a nice ambiance to it and extremely comfortable and plenty of space between tables to allow quiet conversations. The hotel is located near the very historic Rocks district, the original place of Australia's beginning. Just nearby is Barangaroo and Darling Harbour where there are more eating places than you can count. Ferries can be caught from here to the Circular Quay, the hub of all ferry transport from Sydney. The walk to Circular Quay is not far and meanders through the historics Rock's area and past the International Cruise liners terminal. A very well located hotel away from the noise of the City centre, but close enough to walk to ferries and trains.
