The Runnymede on Thames4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed in Runnymede for 5 weeks for a business trip. The food is amazing, including the breakfast spread. While a few rooms are very small and not suitable for 5 week stay some others ( especially those facing Thames) are larger in size.
Just a perfect way to end a busy week. Exceptional value for money, high quality facilities and a warm welcome await you! The food was beautifully cooked and served elegantly - great attention to every detail and lovely comfy room too! What more could you want, Perfect!
Food was nice enough, service adequate , but ultimately is was just ok, nothing outstanding or remarkable.........had it been a special event I would have been very underwhelmed as it is not cheap to dine here.....nothing to complain about, but nothing special either......
Used The Runnymede on a number of occasions and always professional, good quality bar food and service. Convenient, plenty of private space, facilities and lovely river views. Parking easy & no problem
Pros: A lovely place! Clean, great food. Staff always went above and beyond. A special shout out to Alex (front) and Ken (Guest Relations). They made my stay extremely enjoyable! There is a wonderful spa, gym and pool on site. There are also several very good restaurants within walking distance if you want a change of pace. Loved the river path! Cons: Not as well connected as when you stay in London. There is a train system but it's a healthy hike to reach and you need to transfer if you want to get all the way to the city tube system. We stayed in the newer section which has bigger rooms but also is above the Events areas. Which means that we had to listen to the music thrumming till after midnight on 3 nights.
We arrived on Saturday reception staff were excellent. Birthday card from hotel when we came into our room. We spent some time in the spar before supper. I was in the pool and the steam room, my wife in the gym. All were excellent facilities. The left bank restaurant which is buffett style was excellent. But it is seriously dangerous as the temptation to overeat is serial! breakfast the next morning again was buffett style and again severely dangerous to lead one to overeat. We did not have lunch which alleviated the situation somewhat. Spent the day in the gym, by the pool, in the steam room and a good walk by the river thames admiring the riverside houses and boats. Back for supper at the lock restaurant. again food and service were excellent. Left about 11 the next day after a massage and breakfast. So what to say to summarise. Excellent standards in quality service all round. Yes I would certainly recommend the hotel. A recommendation is that one comes back time after time which we try and do at least once a year.
We were having a family weekend attending Ascot NH races, so choose this on location. However it was a much better hotel than we first realised, great service, lots of things to do, the breakfast was excellent. We ate in the hotel on the Friday night, it was a buffet & was spot on. The hotel is right by the river with a lovely walk along the tow-path. It has a spa, a superb pool, what more can I say, it was excellent, we’ll be back in the summer this time to hopefully make the most of its riverside location. The only downside is the rooms are small if two are sharing, but to be fair there is no need to stay in the room.
Had a long weekend for my 70th.The staff were really helpful and I cannot find anything to complain about. We had dinner on the Friday night in the buffet restaurant and on the Saturday evening my son and his family joined us and we had a meal in the Lock restaurant both were very enjoyable. Room was slightly small but adequate and had a lovely view over the river. Had a lovely walk into Staines along the river and made use of the swimming pool.
Always a real pleasure to stay in this hotel. The staff go well beyond what you expect and the food is lovely. Very clean and a great location... We stay here anytime we are in the area as we are never let down.
Generally I found it disappointing, it is a large modern, somewhat brash hotel. The swimming pool indoors was very small for the size of the hotel. The bar was nice and they make zippy drinks, but the food was very rich and not all that good. Break fast was disappointing too. I had a good massage though and the staff were delightful. All in all it was good value but I wouldn't spend more than one night there.
