Mornington Hotel Stockholm Bromma4.0 out of 5.0

I've stayed at Mornington Bromma a few times. It's very informal (reception is just a table with a computer on it) and big. Rooms are big for Swedish standards (except the smaller ones without window). In the big bathroom you find one of the different scented soaps (with a very good smell) that are then available for purchase at reception. There is a big and well equipped gym on the 6th floor open early in the morning until late in the evening, with a sauna. There are also yoga and fitness lessons planned during the week. It's on a busy road and close to Bromma airport so it could bother you if you're particularly sensitive to noises, but they were more than acceptable for me. Breakfast is good and offers a vast choice. Dining in the evening is also possible (not much around if you don't have a car or don't want to take public transport). Kind and helpful staff. In my opinion prices are very good for what is offered and Mornington is a good choice for trips with families and friends or for business. Mind the parking outside the hotel (Swedes love giving parking tickets).
I had high hopes for this place especially given its 4-star rating and good reviews; however we arrived to find out that this hotel is more like a 2-star motel or hostel. The toilets are old and yellow with a nasty shower. The rooms are cramped and the bed is stiff with flat pillows. The staff is unhelpful and housekeeping is even worse. I got back to my room after a long day of exploring only to come back to a merely rearranged bed. Meaning that housekeeping didn't do anything but throw the blanket over - they didn't even throw out the trash or give us new towels to replace the ones on the floor. Somehow they managed to make the toilet stink more! How is this place even considered a hotel? What a disappointment!
This place we stayed in for a short weekend break to Stockholm - the location was everything for us. We had the option of walking to most places in the city or getting the metro, it was just so easy. The staff at the hotel were friendly and for my other halfs birthday they had supplied us with amazing brownies and chocolates! The room we initially had was slightly small, but we were moved once we spoke to the girls down in reception they were extremely helpful and understanding. The bar across the road worked out really well for us in the evenings when coming back to the hotel with great food and drinks menu.
We stayed here in a family room last week (Family of 5 including 3 children under 8 years old). It's easy to get to from Arlanda airport, take the flygbussurna airport coach towards Brommaplan & get off at the second last stop Voltavagen. Hotel is across the road. Room was nice, big, clean, modern, good Wi-Fi, good breakfast, very helpful staff. We didn't use the gym but knew it was there. Transport was very easy. Walk across the road and down an alleyway next to the tram tracks to get to the stop, about a 3 minute walk. Going into town was easy, change after 2 stops onto the metro. Total journey about 20 minutes. Also the butterfly house was just a 20 minute bus journey & 10 minute walk away. The kids enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters land and take off. Not very disruptive or a busy airport. Don't let the location of the hotel put you off. Transport is so good in Stockholm, it really didn't matter to us. We did have an issue with the room which wasn't sorted and are waiting to hear back about it. Hoping that it will be resolved. A very bad smell was coming from the bathroom for 2 days which cleaning/house keeping did not fix even after servicing the room (possible drains problem), and a room change was not offered. The only offer was the use of another room for me and my husband to use the bathroom on the same floor but was at the other end of the hotel. (Not practical) The other downside I would say is that on their website, they say that they offer massage - I thought great, have a nice relaxing massage on-site. This was NOT the case. It is apparently offered only once a month. This annoyed me, as it did not make it clear on the website. For something so infrequent, it either shouldn't be advertised as a service, or made very clear that it is not very often, and you'll be very lucky to be there on those dates. Website says "If you wish you can also book a Personal Trainer or relax with a massage after your workout. Check with our front desk for reservations and available dates"
First hotel is really "middle of nowhere" that is peoples who come own car. If you need travel taxi coming expensieve then you got same money hotel for downtown. Its pretty basic hotel dont find anything special here, some crew its not so nice and not flexible at all but.. But next time i choose hotel somewhere centrum or least near tunnelbana.
Stayed here three nights playing about €35 per night after discount. The Mornington is located close to Bromma Airport and a bit off the inner city. Positive: good beds, clean modern style rooms, good wifi, great breakfast, free gym and free classes, honest good service. Negative: the hotel is close to Bromma Airport and the inflights might be disturbing as the big road outside the hotel. For me the noise of airplanes is'nt that of a problem. This is an urban area. The value is great even without the discount i had. Recommended!
In principle I love this hotel, its sporty, good breakfast, good value for money and kind people so I wanted to give a good review but ....... Found old socks in the room (has it been cleaned?) normally this would trigger a compensation in form of a dinner or at least a glass of wine, but the best offer was to pick up the dirty socks, Sat in the restaurant for 45 min without serving only to be told that the restaurant was reserved for a company dinner. Got allocated to a different place nice and quiet nut no serving. Just had a very small salat as a main course, finished my wine ages ago and wanted another glass but no serving. Mornington is a nice place with nice people but hopeless in service, and I am afraid what surprises to expect in the room next. Its a pity
Hotel is only few tens of meters from railway, close to the street and quite close to Bromma airport (planes were landing "on top of the hotel") - definitely not for silence lovers. Noise is not too intense, but it can be heard. Hotel itself was clean and in good standard. Nothing close to luxury, but quite well maintained.
Great staff, the room was clean and quiet and the breakfast was pretty good. I was highly impressed by the quality of the bed! The hotel is not too close to the city centre, so if that is a priority it might not be the best choice. My trip was work-related, and the hotel was perfectly located for this, close to the conference location. Hotel bar is open until two, which is good.
A group of 10 of us spent two nights here. Initially we were actually going to stay at a Best Western, but I must admit we definitely made the right choice in staying at the Mornington. Not only was it cheaper... The rooms were modern, clean and spacious. The hotel is well situated, meaning you can get into the city centre fairly easily. There are also several sporty things on offer like bikes and longboards, which was a nice touch. For the price and the experience . . .It was an enjoyable stay and i'd like to return. Also, the airport wasn't disruptive at all.
