Secluded multi family country get away.

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great secluded place for multiple families. Just like pictures. 30 min from Steamboat. Beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is very well stocked. Although we saw no mice or mice droppings there is a strong urine smell in the upstairs bedrooms that we associate with mice.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful long weekend at the Elk River Retreat. Our group has be gathering near mountain communities across the west for over a decade now and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the river valley away from town and amongst the deer, marmots, birds, elk, trout and stars. The service by the team was great, the amenities and setting ideal for a large group to relax and enjoy each others company. The windows could have used a cleaning, but other than that it's fantastic. We enjoyed a gondola ride, a mountain coaster ride as well as shopping, golf and hot springs in town. We cooked most of our meals in the wonderful kitchen and ate as a group out on the deck. We would definitely return!

One Amazing Cabin!

We stayed at the Elk River Enclave recently for a long weekend family getaway. I found this cabin online (through VRBO) two years ago and had been waiting that long to stay here. Overall, a really wonderful place. First off, your GPS (and their directions) won't get you to the cabin. They will get you to the neighbors place and he will direct you there. You can tell he's done it many times. Strong points- 1) The Great Room. Really fabulous. 2) A well stocked (with pots & pans and all kinds of cooking accessories kitchen. 3) Lots of beautiful bedrooms. 4) The "Annex" (as we called it, large bedroom over the garage) is huge and could sleep many people. It has 8 beds in this room alone. A few areas that need some TLC- 1) The deck. Not regularly maintained and very splintery. It needs a serious sanding (or to be replaced with composite) and sealing. Every other year. 2) The firepit. Badly overgrown vegetation and some broken seating. 3) The grounds. It is "the norm" to have a small area close in to the home mowed down a bit for family activities such as corn hole, badminton, wading pool, etc. That's "the norm" in most mountain properties. Nothing was mowed or trimmed. You want the acreage to be wild, but a little bit of manicuring would have been nice. 4) It is very unusual to not have a BBQ grill available for a rental property of this stature. Bummer. We did not like working with "Turnkey Rentals", the property management company that oversees this property. There are come funky communication things with them, and some "rules" that we did not care for . We probably won't rent one of their listings again. It is a beautiful home, one that our family enjoyed immensely. We created once again some very special family memories at the Elk River Enclave! Neil Carlberg Greeley, CO

Needs updates

We really enjoyed our time, being out in the country, the views, and the peace and quiet of the property. The concerns we had were the gas smell in the loft/bunk room above the garage, ants in the kitchen constantly on the counters, and a handful of things that just felt like they needed some updates and TLC to the property overall. Cell service was extremely limited, wifi worked most of the time, never could figure out the cable but luckily we brought our own Apple TV with us so we had a way to watch movies. Being next to the river was great!

Great week in a wonderful house.

Our week was wonderful at Elk River Enclave. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked, the beds are so comfy, the living room has a great amount of seating for large gatherings. The view is pretty outside from the porch. The firepit is was nicely stocked with wood. The river access could use a bit more care, mow the grass down more right before guests arrive. The trash dumpster was the only major issue we had, it was full upon arrival, so our trash had to accumulate in the garage that we didn't have access to the first 3 days. We would highly recommend Elk River Enclave to others for a larger family and friends week in Colorado!!

Beautiful Property for a large group

Our week at Elk river Enclave was wonderful! The property is beautiful, and the house is great! The updated bathrooms and home decor made a trip to a rustic mountain home very enjoyable. The house was super clean which was very reassuring to us since we are in this new Covid-19 season. The beds were very comfortable. The fire pit is located in a great spot by the pond, tons of fire wood provided. The only issues we had was the trash dumpster was full upon arrival, and we had to start collecting trash in the garage, which was not unlocked for us for the first 3 days. I specifically asked if there was a grill on site, and was told NO. We hauled our full sized grill all the way from Texas only to arrive and find there is a grill, attached to the house propane system. I wish turnkey would actually find the real answers instead of looking on the amenities page I could read myself. The walk to the river could be mowed down lower for a more pleasant walk down. A very large tree fell from the neighbors property over the road to get to the house, a quick call to the property manager, and he was on his way, however, he was not equip with a large chainsaw, and if it wasn`t for the men in our group chopping wood with an axe found in the garage, we would have spent much longer than we did waiting to get road access back to the house. I would suggest calling a company to remove such a large tree, instead of having guests do the heavy work. A family of Marmots live under the deck near the garage, don`t be alarmed, they are harmless and were fun to see and hear. Overall, our stay at Elk River Enclave was wonderful. If we travel back to Steamboat again, we would definitely try and stay in this home, it is nice and spacious for large groups. The area is absolutely beautiful, and the house was very comfortable and accommodating. We can’t wait to return in the summer! We weren’t able to get a WiFi signal in the loft above the garage, but definitely had cell phone coverage. The river is a 5 min walk at maximum and we were able to do some fly fishing, even with the snow. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, we are truly grateful you shared your home with us.

Very nice house but smelled very bad of urine.

House would have been perfect with the exception of 2 major things. The smell of urine and the lack of mowing and weeding. Almost chose not to stay due to urine smell. Lots of air fresheners around but they didn't even mask the smell. Strongest in the upstairs. We also couldn't really walk to the river or anywhere else than directly around the property since the grass had not been mowed in quite some time. We found a trimmer in the garage and did trim a path to the river. Would have been nice if we could have explored the beautiful property more. The house is beautiful and there were plenty of amenities. I had sent an email to the property mgmt. asking if there were any board games and a grill at the property. They told me that there weren't any. When we got there we found there was a grill and some board games to play. We also needed a porta crib and a high chair. The house had neither but they did have baby utensils, cups, plates and bibs. The bed and high chair would have been nice.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall this is a beautiful home in a beautiful location.Really enjoyed our stay. But, the house really smells like urine. It's overpowering at first and we thought we couldn't stay. After a while you get used to it so it doesn't smell as bad. Also the property would be much nicer if you could walk to the river and further around the house. They haven't trimmed or mowed in quite some time. Luckily we found a trimmer in the garage and were able to trim a walking path to the river. The A/C, if there even is any, wouldn't allow us to change the house temp. Got very hot during the day and took some time in the evening to cool down.

Beautiful Rustic Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great home in a beautiful location. It is a close walk through some brush to a picturesque river. Our family was able to spend some great quality time together. It was large enough to allow everyone to gather together, yet we each had private space too. The kitchen was adequate sized and well stocked with dishes and utensils. The Main room with fireplace, large log walls, etc. is fantastic (view, ambiance, etc.). The large deck opens to a huge meadow. The larger bedroom/bath is in a different part of the house separated by a breezeway. It worked well for us to put the kids in this modern, updated area and they loved their "privacy" from the adults. There was a very noticeable unpleasant odor in the breezeway when we arrived. Guests staying in the upstairs rooms also noticed a urine odor in the bedrooms. After a couple attempts, we heard from the manager but he was unable to locate or remedy the issue during our stay. The mosquitoes were so thick that we were unable to use the outside facilities (deck, porch, fire ring, etc.). I imagine a good hard freeze would take care of that. There was evidence of mice all around the property and we even saw one indoors the last night of our stay. The property is in the wilderness, so that's just a never-ending battle I'm sure. All in all, it was a good stay. With some attention to maintenance and details (landscaping, fixing windows, pest control) this could be a fabulous place.

Great home.

This house was wonderful for our group of 19. We loved the house, outdoor space, pond, river, and location. My only suggestion to Home owners is to add a fridge.
