Disappointment in Steamboat
We made a last minute decision to book a condo at Canyon Creek by Retreatia. We have stayed at four other properties in Steamboat, all with very positive experiences, however none were available. When we checked into our unit, we were greeted with an overwhelming stench of stale food. The carpet throughout the living and dining area was dirty and stained. The furniture upholstery was old, dirty and greasy from long use. We drove to the management office, which was two miles away to obtain a parking pass and vent our frustration. The young office employee was sympathetic and indicated she would have someone from management visit the unit the next day. No one visited the unit during our three night stay. We did receive about 5 "stock" emails from Retreatia, first welcoming us and the final ones reminding us of the 10:00 AM check out time, that we needed to take our trash to the outside dumpsters, leave our three card keys in the designated place in the unit, otherwise we would be charged $50 for any non-returned keys and would be charged for any damage or missing items unless we purchased the insurance they offered prior to check-in. We were charged "mandatory fees of $216.35" which was disclosed in advance but with a fuzzy explanation until the young employee explained it for for cleaning and service fees, which we considered very ironic, considering the condition of the unit when we arrived. The only positive thing I can say about the unit is it was spacious.
