I am very pleased with the choice I made to stay at Frenchman's Reef. Although it's not in the middle of downtown Charlotte Amalie where restaurants and shops are more easily accessible, the property is beautiful and provides impressive picture-taking opportunities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurants' offerings were limited, but very tasty/flavorful. The view from the huge windows at Acqua Terra was spectacular. All in all, I rate this resort very highly.
When we checked in we were told when you book through a third party your room selection is not guaranteed. So they thought we would accept a king bed for three people and offered a roll away bed. That was not acceptable so we waited for a double bed room to open and be serviced. The food was expensive and the taxis are expensive and charge per person which was something I had never experienced.
Staff was courteous and friendly. The room was large and comfortable. We were steps from the beach. There was prompt transportation to the main hotel. The restaurants were very good and the wait staff was excellent. The markets were well stocked and parking was great. Beach was well equipped with chairs and water equipment.
A little pricey , staff a little rude when it comes to basic ammenitties
The hotel was very clean and the staff exceptionally friendly. Stayed at the morning-star side of the hotel along the beach. Beach steps away from room with restaurants near by. Loved the balcony view. The hotel is overly wonderful a true vacation. The shuttle to the main hotel ran in a timely fashion, the taxi's were relatively available if you want to visit offsite. The pool is amazing, very clean, spacious, played great music. Other than the drinks being overly priced its to be expected. Also, when you book online, it doesn't give the full price of the $45 additional per day and taxes. The cost will be a little off.
This hotel has great amenities for families traveling with kids. If it's a relaxing vacation at the beach that you want, the Marriott is the hotel for you. Had a great stay.
Can't go wrong with the property lay out - you have lots of options
Amazing views !! Loved the infinity pool. The food was not great and overpriced . Everything else was great .
Just returned from Honeymoon & really enjoyed our time here. Room had a beautiful beach view, very clean. We even got to check in early as we had an early flight and had no where to go with all our luggage. The only thing we had a bit of an issue was the overpriced food, and too little choices. Everything else we cannot complaint. The Wonderful pools, the beach was amazing, everything was perfect!
Not well maintained. Pools we're undesirable. I will not be back.
We overnighted on St. Thomas returning from BVI. Had reserved 2 rooms each with 2 beds (for 4 adults and 3 children). Directions to the resort were very confusing as reservation did not specify Frenchman's Reef or Morning Star. Went to Reef and were welcomed very nicely and said our two rooms would be close together - however we needed to drive down the hill to the Morning Star. There we were told they did not have rooms close together but in separate buildings. Calling back upstairs - 2 adjoining rooms became available at Morning Star. Had a delightful appetizer and then went to our rooms - there was only one bed in each room and one room did have a pull out sleeper. I appreciated their accommodating us - however - we did not receive what we reserved. When I mentioned this to clerk, she explained that the resort did not guarantee beds in room requests. So overall a disappointing experience.
St Thomas and St. John have lovely beaches and the hotel had really nice pools. The only defect was the condition of the rooms We had two rooms as a family and one of them was extremely mildew and the other was just fine. They were very nice and moved the one to connect to the good room which would have been nice to begin with. They stated that they could not honor this request at check in. They also replaced a mildew shower curtain as soon as we called. Their Housekeeping Manager needs to walk these rooms. The only other problem that we encountered was the fact that we had a Visa gift card that we wanted to use towards our final bill and they told us that all kinds of fees would apply which was simply not true. In spite of the deficiencies I would return to the hotel because they were quick to rectify these things and the ocean , pools, restaurants, and views were great.
Balcony ceiling falling. Management ignored for 3 days then said it was an emergency to move us. Metal bed frame 3 inches protruding from masters in next room and again management ignored until Simone tripped over it. Again a major emergency 2 days after. Staff kind and pleasant.
The food was good. However over priced. Hotel needs upgrade. Enjoyed the service. Workers very friendly. Rooms were clean and fairly comfortable.
Beautiful location but room and bathroom needs remodeling. Food excellent.
I would rate it a 5. However compared to other world class 5 star hotels I would rate it a 3.5. If you want to visit St. Thomas, it's definitely your top choice for beach, restaurant, and easy access to Charlotte Amalie. My advice is to rent a car and venture out to see the island!
I was very pleased with my stay. The staff were very helpful and the resort had so many things to offer. I was only disappointed when parts of the resort (the main pool one afternoon/evening, and Havana Blue restaurant one evening) were closed to the public, and guests were not notified in advance. As a result, I was unable to check out the restaurant that came highly recommended by one of the resort staff. Harbor view rooms at the resort seem a bit quieter than the main hotel, if that is what you are looking for....but the resort has so many options and nearly all have a great view. I do hope to return next year
The hotel provided great access to the multiple pools and a great large beach! Restaurant options on the property offered variety. The location cannot be beat with easy access to ferries to other islands. Hotel does still need some updating but know they are in midst of this now, We had a great time and truly enjoyed our vacation.
Over all nice property, $20 cab ride to anything you wanted to do, and $20 back. Beach was to far.
Great family trip. Friendly staff. Great food. Hotel shops had great souvenirs, all necessities. We enjoyed eating at CocoJoes on the beach.
