Upon arriving we immediately noticed the musty smell of this place. After about 30 minutes we discovered BLACK MOLD in all of the vents and bathrooms. We called Carter Rentals and they said because we had already “checked in” (walked in the front door basically) they would NOT offering a refund. Instead, we asked for them to put us at another place that they manage. We called a dozen or more times over the next 2-3 hours and no one called us back to help us out (we are a young family with infant, 4 and 6 year old kids). Just said the property owner wouldn’t be helping us out. Very upsetting to know what we were exposed to.Other issues- All of the doors you can see visible daylight coming through the cracks. So it’s very loud with road noise. Condo is extremely dated and looks nothing like photos. The musty smell is overpowering. Floors are filthy and leave feet brown and black. Toilets rock back and forth. Dead bugs in bathroom lighting.But the biggest concern was the visible black mold. I dread to think what the inside of all the duct work looks like. We found a place just down the beach that was clean and brand new and properly restored.Disputing the charges with the bank because they changed our reservation to end on Tuesday instead of Saturday to Saturday and keptOur money. While walking on the beach later in the week we saw it had already been booked up again with new people lounging on the balcony. They only care about taking your money and not for your health.
