This property was not properly cleaned or prepared for guests. The stove, microwave, and counters were covered in grease and grit. After driving 12 hours, my husband wanted to shower before dinner, but there were no towels, no washcloths, and no body wash or shampoo. I contacted the host, who said he would drop items off later. He also informed us that the dryer was not working. I informed the host that the kitchen appliances and toilet seat were dirty and did not appear cleaned. When we returned from dinner, the missing items were left on the front porch; the host did not come inside to assess the issues.That night, there was a strong chemical odor coming from the bed linens that burned my nose and lips and made me sick. The next morning it became clear the sheets had not been laundered, likely because the dryer was broken. This was completely unacceptable.I notified the host that we were leaving. His response was that he was sorry it didn’t meet our expectations and blamed the previous guests. All that was needed was honest communication that the house would not be ready until the stated 4:00.We left the next morning and never returned. The host never followed up, apologized, offered replacement bedding, or attempted to make things right. I was not going to go to a laundromat to wash bedding that should have been clean upon arrival, especially when the dryer was known to be broken. The uncleanliness, broken dryer, and unwashed bedding made the property uninhabitable .
