I love this hotel visually, it’s pretty and romantic but it does lack basics, I do know from staying here before that all rooms are different, you never know if you will get great or average but this time I got average, I did had a coffee maker but no cups? And no cups of any kind, none for coffee, none for water, not even one to brush my teeth...odd I think. There was only one small vanity mirror in the split washroom, toilet in one room and shower and sink in the other. Different to say the least...Didn’t have a fridge, but I requested one at check in as I read that in other reviews that not all rooms had them, came quick along with request of a couple drinking glasses for the water that I supplied myself as no water in the room either. Hotel needs to up its game in the basics to at least best western standards, this is a beautiful place just needs to try a bit harder.

LOVED how dog friendly they are!! LOVED the service staff! LOVED the lounge and the food in the hotel restaurant! LOVED this property!!!!

Staff was courteous and very helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Unique setting, very appealing. I expected the food to be better; a place of that quality I think would have excellent food. It was average.

Such a stunning location and this hotel feels like a palace. It is so beautiful and in the most gorgeous location. Our stay was heavenly!!

Fabulous room overlooking rooftop garden. Comfy seating area. Luxury linens. Spa hot tub and indoor pool which we accessed from a 2nd floor covered hallway. Very relaxing stay!

Great atmosphere - great staff! Clean and food was great at Braxton’s....had spinach salad with Algonquin honey mustard dressing....and yes....they have their own bees.

This is one of the premier grand resort hotels. It's similar to the Mt. Washington, The White Mountain Inn & Wentworth by the Sea. It's so nice to eat & sleep in a grand manner without leaving the building. Blazing fireplaces bookend the lobby, which retains the feel of reading and game area.

Comfortable , Relaxing. Food was amazing. Out room had a wonderful view,.

An elegant, historical and obviously well loved establishment of St. Andrews.

A favorite of ours, going back decades! When our kids were younger, we went many Labor Days and appreciated the uniquely Canadian atmosphere of fine service and exquisite old world appointments. Through the many ownerships and renovations, the character remains. We do miss the lowering of the flag to bagpipes and kilts! The resort is expensive, but for a special romantic getaway, it's worth it. Those looking for a sparkly modern Hilton may balk at the parts of this hotel that make it a classic. We found the several quirky aspects of the hotel to be part of its charm. The rooms are squeaky clean, the staff helpful and courteous, the clientele interesting, the cuisine excellent, and St. Andrews as a town endlessly fascinating. Highly recommended!

From the moment we arrived, roadweary--the staff made us feel welcome and helped us learn about the area and enjoy the "local" experience. We loved it all, the veranda, the room, the firepit on the lawn. We walked into town for meals and visited the Kingsbrae Gardens. The location was lovely and made the stay seem like a true get-away.

Promised Marriott points for my stay but the failed to inform me by a number staffers at the front desk . That points can not be awarded booking with a third party. At the time I book ......this was not a Marriott hotel .... I would have canceled 0rbitz and rebook with Marriott Direct had I been better informed. The certainly could / should have been better trained to inform Marriotts vacationers that third party bookings , points are not available for the stay or spending.

Historically appropriate, warm, welcoming and cozy.

We've traveled a lot and stayed in a variety of medium to high end hotels/resorts. This is a over rated, over priced and misleading hotel. It should never be part of the Autograph Series. The grounds were poorly kept, the views were standard at best, the shower leaked badly onto the floor and the room temperature couldn't be controlled from the room. The food was good, but over priced. The golf course was under construction with little else to do near by. Lest you think we were fully disappointed, we found the staff very nice and helpful. Yet for the nightly rate charged, we would never return there.

Felt timeless, entering the handsome Tudoresque building! Young staff is very friendly and eager to please. Room furnishings have been modernized, perhaps a bit too much, but overall it's very comfortable and it was fun to see a couple wedding parties while we were there. Not entirely glitchfree, but the staff is very willing. Nice Keurig coffee in the room. Great poolrobes. They brought a minifridge on request. Our second night, the a/c system was "reset" by a thunderstorm and turned on the heat. It couldn't be fixed, and they supplied fans, which worked out fine. Lobby restaurant is convenient, pleasant, a bit pricey and food hit or miss. Great bar. Nice family pool with impressive waterslide. I walked up, changed my mind, walked back down, then went up again and did it! Walk to the Kingsbrae Gardens and Katy's Cove (small pleasant $1. beach, $1. ice cream available) was doable but hot in the direct sun- bring a hat and water! The front lawn was enjoyed by kids running around and adults circling the firepits for a chat and some music in the evenings. Our end of July visit was attended by lots of mosquitoes, glad we brought spray. Would definitely stay again, and could see bringing parents, kids, friends of all ages to this pleasant landmark.

We were made aware of the fact that there was a Challenge Triathlon going on at the site which meant lots of action and people. We were promised free valet parking which did occur! The weather was poor, but we had a very good time anyway. We walked down into the village, participated in a Whale Watch and came back for a meal in the bar. Quite fun. Breakfast was on the verandah (glass enclosed) and was lovely. Freshly made omelets and lots of fresh fruit as well as smoothies. The staff is wonderful, kind and courteous. Our car was delivered to us from the back parking lot with a smile and a hope that we would visit again. The only thing we would do differently next time is assure ourselves of a slightly bigger room. Our room was comfortable, but a little cramped and dark because there were only 2 small windows around one corner of the room..

Everything was wonderful at The Algonquin from check-in to room, food, amenities, activities and staff. Only suggestion when making a reservation is ask if the room has a tub. Ours did not and if you have children you might want one. The glass shower in our bathroom was very nice.

It was very relaxing being in a small town and having all of the amenities available to enjoy our company.

Always a wonderful stay at the Algonquin! We had a great time relaxing and taking in the sights.
