This hotel is very tired and needs upgrading. The rooms are spacious and have a balcony, but they need a new coat of paint and fresh carpet. The bathrooms are a good size but old. The rooms do not have a safe or mini bar, but do have a fridge. The breakfast is ok but after a few days you do get over the limited offerings and there are blow flies all over the tables. The gentleman who checked us in was rude and we felt like we were a total inconvenience. Thankfully the rest of the staff were lovely and made our stay a pleasant one. Especially Benito who is the doorman/concierge. He was always very helpful and friendly. The hotel is right on the beach and it is a nice beach. You have to cross the train line to get to it. The train line can get noisy during peak hour, but it didn't bother us too much. The pool is a nice area with friendly staff.

Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic selection breakfast buffet. Great dinner menu. Reasonably priced rooms. Minute to the beach. Tour package available at hotel. Clean up was very slow. Dinning plate left outside someone's room for 2 day's. Flies collected. I mentioned to management. Good size rooms, clean. Reasonably priced

Tried old joint, but not in a good way. Lackadaisical staff and mouldy rooms. Probably was an OK place once. Avoid if you are a light sleeper--trains are very close. Actually, avoid totally. The 1800Rs buffet lunch is barely passable.

We stayed at the Colombo Berjaya in October 2017. Our room was clean and quiet. The pool area was very nice. From the pool area it is a short walk across the bridge over the train tracks down to the restaurant/bistro on the beach. The bistro had very good food, and it was a very relaxing place to sit and watch the sun set over the ocean. We found the staff at the hotel to be helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet was also very good, with a wide selection of items to choose from. Our only minor complaint (some other reviewers also noted this) is that the internet didn’t work very well. The hotel staff gave us a wireless router we could plug in and that helped, but the connection was so unreliable we had to walk down the street to an internet café to go online to apply for some visas. All in all we recommend the hotel and we will stay there again on our next visit to Colombo.

We stayed in this hotel twice both in and out of Colombo as the travel agent had booked us into it. The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment as there are signs of wear and tear all around - the rooms as well as the public spaces. The staff are helpful and were able to cater to our requests - e.g. problems with hot water in the showers, a need for travel adapters. One of the porters was especially good and gave recommendations etc. The pool area is ok except for the big black crows that have made it their home and are constantly around. As mentioned in other reviews, this hotel is by the railway tracks so if you are a light sleeper, it is not for you.

I booked for 6 nights, from day one i complaint about the hot water and water pressure, they came repaired and it works for 30 seconds... i complaint again....no one came till tomorrow morning i told the front desk...front desk made another empty promises...did not repair till we came back still not resolve the same issue....same thing all over again...request for room change...came and repaired and same thing....works for 30 second and kaput...gone!! It ruined totally my vacation. The hotel is terrible, staff all tired due to the tired building. My opinion is..this hotel must be owned by greedy people and only think about money and profit! Will not recommend to anyone with family. BAD EXPERIENCE. Will not come again and hope they go out of business soon.

A basic hotel within walking distance from the beach. It needs a facelift to it's common areas. Food was decent with a good spread for breakfast. The hotel's closeness to the rail track is a negative factor.

We stayed for 2 nights in our vacation trip in Srilanka. Location is excellent and hotel has direct access to the beach. Having two main restaurants and one called 'Rasa Malasia' is in the beach. Food quality is average so as the rooms. The management should take care of maintenance and hygiene. Our overall experience was just above average but not a great. P.S - The local train line is just beside the hotel, so kids can enjoy the views.

We booked this hotel through agora. 2 months in advance, however when we reached the hotel, they did not have the 4 rooms booked by us. First there was some confusion within their reservation department and bell desk, then the rooms were not ready on arrival despite 2pm being the check in time. Somehow they were allocating rooms on 1st floor which has no view except the pool view so avoid the 1st floor rooms. Somehow we had to fight and we got the 3rd floor rooms. Rooms are OK i.e they’re not so great and not so bad. Overall stay here if you’re looking for an affordable hotel, except for the location which is excellent. The breakfast however is good for with a good variety of food. Indians can try Aloo Paratha by requesting the chef. PS- don’t opt for room 331 towards the end of the hotel n near the railway track. You’ll hear all trains come and go 🤯

One of the few hotels in Colombo with a beach closeby. Breakfast spread is less n needs come more addtion. Always communicate to the hotel before arrival to ensure that you get a room which is away from the railway track else njoy a free wakeup call much before sunrise. as Colombo has experienced numerous incidents of people run over on rail tracks, the loco dirvers now whistle on stretches where people often cross & close to the hotel is an open crossing which is for public access to the beach, so the hotel guests too have to bear the whistle of all passing trains. Presence of flies in the restaurant is a dampener & the hotel needs to do something on hygiene.
