Perfect location in the middle of the palace

Excellent small, clean and tidy hotel right in the middle of the palace. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Location meant everything in the palace was literally right outside your door. Given that you can only walk to be hotel it could be a slight adventure to find if you don’t know your way around the palace, but that’s all part of the fun.

Very overpriced

The hotel was very overpriced. The staff were friendly . The room Was spotless .however the room was unbearably hot and the air conditioner was on a timer that seemed impossible to reset . We had some tea in mugs.. they remained dirty on the dresser the 3 days we were there

The staff was outstanding and the top floor room with the terrace was incredible. We were able to have five friends join us for wine and cheese on the terrace to watch the sunset. Highly recommend the hotel.

Beautiful & Great Location

This hotel is located within Diocletion's Palace. A beautiful place and our room was a blend of century's old brick and modern décor. The staff was wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend staying here.

Excellent location beautiful hotel

We were upgraded to the newer part of the hotel and we would recommend this section of the hotel highly. Room was beautiful, staff were excellent, couldn't beat the location...right in the best part of the Diocletian palace. Only issue was the room was fairly small. There was also no hidden costs, which we seem to have been surprised with at the end of our stay in a couple of other locations. Would detinately stay there again.

Excellent 3 Night stay

We initially had some difficultly locating the street and the hotel resulting in the hotel sending someone to collect and guide us there. Much appreciated. Great reception staff friendly and helpful Nice comfortable well appointed room including safe and fast wifi. Quality bedding and nice bathroom. Good wide choice buffet breakfast enjoyed outdoors Located in the old palace close to all the attractions and restaurants, close to bus and ferry terminals. A must is to visit another gem Trogir 40 min bus trip. We highly recommended this hotel for your stay in Split.

Could not be more central in the middle of the old the old palace. Make sure the hotel let's you know w how to find it. No direction signs are allowed for any of the hotels in a world heritage site. Lots of good food within 5 mins walk, and have lots of room on youy cameras memory . Very comfortable bed, and modern room. Staff all very helpful. Good speed WiFi input room.

Goos but not great.

The hotel was very nice and in a great location. I would give that a 5 star rating. The only negatives was the wifi was terrible and the housekeeping was not up to par. My sheets were not change in the 7 days I was there. The floors were never vacuumed and bathrooms were not wiped down. Luckily it was only myself (male) traveling but if I was with my wife, it might have been a different story. I must say, the front desk staff were exceptional and very friendly.

Great location

We only passed through Split so this location was ideal for seeing as much as possible in a short time. Staff was lovely and very helpful (dinner recommendation gave us one of the best dinners of our vacation). Breakfast had multiple options and was delicious. Room was cozy and very comfortable. Only drawback was lack of proper shower; but we made it work.

Nice place in the old part of Split

I stayed at Hotel Diocletian for one night prior to starting another trip leaving from Split. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel location is either amazing or terrible. It is in the heart of the old city so it's an easy walk to the main tourist areas with many restaurants and shops near by. However, that also make it hard to find. Try to follow the map to get closer and then just ask for directions. Overall I was happy with my stay at the Hotel Diocletian and would stay there again.

Great place to stay in heart of the city

Really cute well kept, renovated hotel, right in the Diocletian palace. Super great service. Rooms are definitely on the smaller side, but understandable given the very historic buildings, and very creatively decorated so still feel very nice.

Excellent hotel in the old town

Hotel Diocletian is an excellent place to spend the night in the middle of the old town. A bit difficult to find, but the location is perfect. Start exploring just outside the door. Nice bathroom with a jet-tub.

The location is unbeatable and the free breakfast is pretty good. Overall, I would stay here again and recommend the hotel to others. It is very convenient. Just know that this is a no-frills hotel with virtually no amenities. Here are the negatives: The entrance to the hotel is in a quiet alley that always has giant cockroaches running down it at night. I get it, it's a major city so of course there will be roaches, but every morning there would be several dead roaches right in front of the hotel door. I feel that the hotel staff should get rid of them because that is not the first thing you want to see every morning when exiting your hotel, on your way to breakfast (the breakfast is in a restaurant connected to the hotel). There are no guest rooms on the ground floor and I never saw a roach inside the building. When we arrived, our room appeared very clean; however, despite leaving a daily tip for housecleaning, our room was not cleaned well. We stayed at the hotel 6 nights. The bathroom floor was always dirty, the soap was never replaced, the sheets were never changed. I should also mention that the rooms are very tiny and the bathroom has almost no space to put toiletries - only a tiny shelf above the sink.
