Great location but very old and run down. The hotel was a lot different to its website pictures. Breakfast was okay but nothing spectacular. We asked for a specific bedding configuration well in advance and they were unable to provide this which was very frustrating. I'd only stay there again on a really cheap deal.
We arrived and it was very warm. The car park is under the hotel and expensive as they dont like cars in Freiburg! The car park was also warm - 35C. However - the hotel was fine! Staff were helpful, efficient and friendly. The room was clean and fully functioning - east facing so it was cooler. Breakfast was a typical international selection and of very good quality. The hotel is in an excellent location within easy reach of everything. We enjoyed a few days here and were more than happy.
It pains me to write a negative review but this place was truly disappointing. I am a Accor Club Platinum member and stay in lots of Accor hotels. This hotel is significantly below par in terms of customer experience. I felt that the staff adopted a "you are lucky to be here" attitude. Very cold and unwelcoming. On many occasions on coming in to the hotel there were no staff at the reception desk. I have many examples of the poor, indifferent service but perhaps the most telling was arriving at the hotel at around 11 pm after an evening out. It had been pouring down with rain and we had borrowed some umbrellas. As we were handing them in, we asked the person behind reception whether room service was available and he said no. So we asked what the options were for food and he shrugged and said, there's a kebab shop around the corner. We attempted to obtain directions but weren't even offered back the umbrellas before going back out the rain. We were assigned a room on the top floor but unfortunately, there was still a lot of noise that could be heard from street level so there are sound proofing issues. The room was very basic, no fridge or wardrobe, just a rail for clothes. It would have been good to raise these issues on departure but unfortunately, the receptionist did not ask whether everything had been ok with our stay. I always consider this to be a very good sign of a very bad hotel. I'm happy to share feedback in person but if the hotel can't be bothered to enquire, that says it all. As mentioned, I stay in a lot of Accor hotels, some are excellent, some average, a few poor. This was a particularly disappointing experience. Poor value for money but it's the cold and indifferent staff which stay in the memory. I am sure there are better options in Freiburg.
I stayed in Mercure Hotel in June of this year for a week, and was delighted with the service, the room, the food in the restaurant- just about everything. The best part was the view of the magnificent cathedral from the door at the end of our hallway- beautiful! And my room was cool, clean, and very well tended. I was the only one in my party of 5 who had an air-conditioned hotel room in what was a very hot time in Germany this year! Lucky me! I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
very fast check inn parked in the parking and strait up to the room , parking is i think 15 euro a day but the offered a deal for our whole stay 6 days parking for 50 euros which wad very good . room is small but ok not very small with AC , watter kettle and hair dryer . right down is a super market , walking distance to the center a lot of restaurants around the hotel . breakfast is very good with amazing amazing nice staff . there is a machine to buy drinks or chocolate . a play station next to breakfast area for kids . Big thanks to the staff .
Great hotel. The staff is very attentive and go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. On site Parking is very convenient as Freiburg can be a parking nightmare. Only negative is the the hotel management's insistence on making you pay up your room account every EUR 500, on extended stays this get very annoying and turns into an accounting nightmare for Concur online users.
The hotel is located close to the train station, restaurants, shops, and activities. The room, bathroom, and sheets were very clean. The shower had excellent water pressure and the hottest hot water we experienced anywhere in Germany. Parking is also available underneath the hotel in the parking garage. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For the money and location, this is the place to stay.
This was a beautiful town. The hotel was right near the square. Everything was in walking distance. The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. I would differently stay here again.
E stayed two nights in two rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would have liked slippers and a personal save and maybe a fridge, but I can do without and had two good night's sleep. The location is unbeatable for sightseeing and shopping. Staff was friendly, breakfast great buffet. Thanks!
We stayed there 2 nights to explore this beautiful city with many carfree streets perfect to walk around, it's situated very close to the "Altstadt" Our room was excellent aswell as the bathroom (privilege-room with queensize bed.) Minus point was that the airco was not satisfied and there was no fridge in the room, being a diabetic patient this was very difficult to hold my insuline cool!! I think that the hotelmanagement should work on these 2 important matters certainly when it is as hot when we were there! 2-6 June 2017
