The Fairfield Inn is a nice, clean and pleasant hotel within easy waking distance of the Notre Dame campus. The staff is great. Right in the midst of a shopping area with nice restaurants, coffee, the campus bookstore and clothing outlets.
We have stayed at several Fairfields and this was one of the nicest. Besides sitting on the southern edge of campus overlooking the football stadium and a block from trendy Eddy St, it has much more to offer. Our, close to the elevator, 5th floor room had a beautiful view and was quite spacious with a separate sitting area in the middle space between the bedroom and bathroom that contained a comfortable couch, chair and desk. There was a half wall separating the two rooms and a large flatscreens in each. The heater is under the bedroom window but the thermostat is in the sitting room, that seems to work well. We had a microwave and mini fridge but sadly no tub, just a shower. We were told that there were only a half dozen rooms with tubs and they were all full. We heard some light traffic noise, but not enough to keep us awake. Notre Dame pictures and art through out, with Notre Dame colors on the carpets as well - all nicely done. Plenty of lighting and plugs for our devices (or are they our vices now?). Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is always a plus.
Could not have picked a better location for a tour of Notre Dame. Comfortable room for our family with teenagers and a great view of campus from our room. Nice lobby with plenty of room for guests during breakfast. We did have a very loud room next to us (1am) but the front desk managed it promptly. Took a day trip to Indiana Dunes and enjoyed all the restaurants and shops that were within walking distance.
One of the best Fairfield property including complimentary breakfast. Very clean, updated furnishings, good linens, bed & pillows. Great location, across from Notre Dame. Walking distance to good restaurants and local sites. Went to ND men's hockey game at Compton Family Arena.
Across the street from Notre Dame campus and Notre Dame hockey rink. One block from Eddy Street restaurants and bars. Safe area. Very adequate breakfast. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient. No complaints at all. I plan to stay here again!
The hotel is in a perfect location. We were in town for a hockey tournament at Notre Dame. My only complaint was the room did not have a refrigerator. We were there for 3 days and would have liked to have kept drinks cold. Some suites had them and some did not.
I have stayed at this location on a few different occasions and I love it. The hotel is clean, updated and has a very friendly staff. I also like the convenient location. There are a few choices of restaurants you can walk to and right across the street from Notre Dame.
The only reason this hotel stays in business is LOCATION. Front desk staff does not answer phone, guests must leave a message with their room number. Housekeeping voicemail was full during our entire stay. Towels are worn and thread barren. Breakfast is lousy. Hotel charges excessively during home football games. There is no way this hotel would make it in a more competitive market. Terrible customer service.
The room seemed cramped compared to other places we stayed at. The shower had a blue stain of some sort on part of the floor. We opted to skip showers since it was just the 2 of us and our day was going to be nothing but driving. The breakfast was nothing spectacular, but it was free. We had to ask the young girl who was working the breakfast area to wipe tables down. All of them were dirty. When I went to find her, she was standing in a back room texting on her cell phone. She acted like she was upset but she did come wipe our table for us. None of the other tables were wiped down. The next time we saw her wipe off was as we were leaving.
I planned a weekend to Notre Dame and picked the Fairfield Inn to stay at just randomly. What a great choice! Located right across from the football and volleyball arenas. Walking distance to several restaurants and to campus. All the staff greeted us each time they saw us come and go. Rooms nicely decorated and good sizes. I was lucky to get an early check in and was upgraded to a suite. They have complimentary breakfast each morning with many choices. If you are coming to a South Bend this would be my recommendation.
