We were so disappointed with our stay here, very poor bungalows, it wasgoing back ever to costa alto dirty and smelly, Bedlinen wasnt clean and there was lots of ants, Shower was dirty, there was no cooking facilities, no kettle, no fryin pan or other utensils,i dont think I would have cooked as overall bungalow wasnt clean we were so disappointed as sorrento is a beautiful place, we wont be going back to village costa alto
My daughter has just returned from a group school trip to Sorrento. In summary this hotel was dirty, infested by ants, run down, badly furnished, poor food, dirty bathroom, grubby linen and insects infesting most rooms. She came home covered in bites, and it got infected. The advert is clearly a misrepresentation of how the hotel is in real life. Pay heed to bad reviews as they are very accurate.
If you wanna explore the Sorrento area, the Amalfi coast, Napoli and Capri..this is a perfect location. The campingsite is basic but more than enough if you're out during the day. The swimming pool is big, the bungalows are clean, the airco is fine and you can have lunch at restaurant near the pool. The staff is very friendly. Again, if you wanna explore the area around Sorrento and Amalfi its perfect! If you're going to spend a lot of time at The campingsite itself it could become boring!
The premises smell terrible and for the price I might aswell of booked a nice hotel as it is over an hours walk to the main square of sorrento and costs about €25 in a taxi to get there the bungalows the self were all over the place, there was a wardrobe beside the cooker and the sink which was just completely odd
Pros. Staff are very kind and helpful Great location Cons. Could improve the breakfast by including some cooked breakfast. Toilets/bathrooms in the rooms need major renovations. I surely didn't feel comfortable at all using them.
My partner and I stayed here for a week. As we had come for a wedding in Sorrento, we wanted to save as much of our budget as possible for meals out and enjoying ourselves. We thought from the photos of the place that this would be ok for a livable place for seven days.. It was appalling! Our room was invested with spiders and ants. The kitchen area and bathroom was filthy. The air con bearly worked and they even switched it off one night saying we had used it too much!! The mattress was springy and uncomfortable. There was so much noise every night (we hardly got any sleep). They don't tell you until you get there about needing to wear stupid caps in the pool and then make you pay €3 each for them! They make you pay for absolutely everything including WiFi (€3 for 1 day!) And tax (€1 per person per day) And to top it all off, we asked reception about the bus to naples airport and they gave us the time of the last bus on the day we needed to leave to make sure we didn't miss it...we got to the stop early to find out that the last one had gone hours before and the receptionist just gave us a random time and we then had to pay a fortune for a taxi. Absolutely awful.
The accommodation is very basic, and needs more than just a little tlc. I am thinking a rebuild for the chalets & caravans. However the stone built accommodation did look more appealing. The Kitchenette could be better equipped, we went out and bought very basic essentials like a bottle opener (on holiday, so I thought this was a basic requirement!). There is no kettle, a bit of a shock to all those Brits out there! - we used a pan instead, scissors, decent sized mugs etc etc, the list goes on. My first night, I confess to having a bit of a melt down, whereupon after loosing a bottle of prosecco to the broken fridge door compartment, and the tiled floor; I sat and cried........and cried......"Why did I choose a cheap and cheerful option?" This was not my idea of "getting away from it all". However, by the following morning, after speaking with the very friendly lady on reception, she very quickly organised a repair for the fridge. Which is just as well, because I was ready to find alternative accommodation, or simply return home. There after, things did improve, but during the Italian holiday season, there is a lot of noise all through the day through to late at night. It's all up beat and friendly, but surely sleep is part of the day too? The swimming pool is very clean, and the best part of the resort by far, you will not be disappointed here! Staff cannot be faulted, they are all very friendly and helpful, as are the Italian guests, and locals. The site is very well located to accessing Pompeii, the train stops directly outside the ruins. I would give Naples a very wide berth, very disappointed in that trip, but Sorrento is worth a visit. It's a bit touristy, but clean, and safe! To top it all off, my entire family have been bitten to death, despite preventative measures. Some of the bites became angry and infected upon return. I think I may be scarred for life, in more ways than one!
Hi me and my daughter who's 11 stayed here for our two week holiday we found the place to be excellent for a family holiday the chalet we had was very nice and the views in and around it were beautiful the swimming pool was the cleanest I've seen on any holiday I have been on and the staff very helpful and friendly .. It's only a ten minute walk to the harbour and beach which is just stunning also there are shops and bars within easy reach.. The Railway Station is again ten minutes away and very cheap which allows you to visit sorrento Vesuvius etc We are booking again we enjoyed it so much.
We stayed in a bungalow room. Looked clean at first , without any towels though. You have to go and ask for clean towels. And the wifi ISN`T free. It costs 6 euros per mobile not per room and I have to say it was quite odd. The nightmare started at night when we arrived from a pleasant boat tour from Capri which took about half a day. I was in a shower just to find out that hundreds of ants were climbing on the wall. Being freaked out I went outside and found another pack of ants near the kitchen trash bin. What is worse, when my friend opened her luggage to take out pajamas, there were literally millians of ants crawling all over her underwears and sleepwears. She had to throw out the whole thing. Thank god they were cheap ones. I am giving two stars for the kindness of the receptionist who gave us the Bug-Free sprays when I was in a complete horror from ant nightmares. And plus, there were spiders on our bed room corner. I have to say , this place is environment friendly at its extreme. For those of you who have chosen to stay here, just remember one word, FORMICA which means ants in Italian.
The pool was sublime, the accommodation so basic as to be barely bearable but then we were only sleeping there and it was very very cheap. Villaggio Costa Alta is beautifully maintained and the staff were lovely. The pool was immaculate and most days we had it virtually to ourselves for large parts of the day. Piano di Sorrento is however quite a way out of Sorrento and with trains stopping so early in the evening it can really add to the costs of your holiday if your spending 30 plus Euros on cabs home.
