The rooms have recently been renovated to a modern high standard, The pictures don't do it justice. Our room was very large, comfortable, spotlessly clean and overlooked Mount Vesuvius. Food was very good. Breakfast was plentiful and dinner was buffet salad followed by three courses chosen from the menu! You won't go hungry! All the staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly the restaurant and bar staff, Angelo and Francesca were very attentive and made meal times a joy. The reception staff were also very helpful and were quick to assist when we were unable to access our safety deposit box! The location is superb, lovely quiet street away from the hustle and bustle, but with easy access to Sant' Agnello and Sorrento. Nice walk into Sorrento or you can take the hotel courtesy bus. All in all a great stay, we would highly recommend.

We stayed at the hotel for a week during April. The room was clean, comfy and a reasonable size. The staff were friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant where the memories and language skills of the waiters was impressive. Good choice of food at breakfast and dinner. The hotel is a pleasant, easy 20 minute walk away from the centre of Sorrento. There is a regular free shuttle bus from the hotel if you don’t want to walk. The only small improvement would be more than one electric point in the room!

We had a lovely stay at the Caravel on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was good on the top floor with a small balcony (enough for 2 chairs) and a nice view. Safe and fridge in room. No kettle in room but we took our own, although you can hire them. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming especially in the dining room at breakfast. The breakfast was varied with cold meat, cheese, bread, cereals, croissants, cakes & cooked breakfast. They provided cereal, bread, crackers and cake for my husband who is coeliac.

We stayed at the Hotel Caravel on recommendation, and were not disappointed. Located approximately a 10 minute free shuttle bus ride from Sorrento (or 25 minute stroll). From the day we arrived for a weeks stay to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, the staff made us feel really welcome. Our room was spacious and clean with the corner aspect we had requested (these have a larger balcony). The food was amazing from a hot and cold breakfast buffet to a four course meal served every evening fo dinner. Be prepared to go home weighing a few extra pounds! The Head Waiter Angelo made everyone feel special, as to did Francesca, Pino, Toni, Simone and Mauro (and Max in the bar). We were very touched at the complimentary glass of bubbly on our anniversary. Another special mention to Grazia on reception who couldn’t do enough to help, and gave us lots of tips. All in all, our first holiday to Italy was faultless. If you want a 4* hotel, great food and accommodation in a quiet location, then choose the Hotel Caravel. To sum up our experience in one word, it would have to be .....perfetto.

Having booked this hotel, mainly because it was cheaper than others, we were amazed at the hotel. The hotel is set in a suburb of Sorrento, Sant Angelo. It is quiet, charming and unadulterated with modernity. We walked everyday into Sorrento itself a brisk 20 minutes with breath taking views. Sant Agnello has its own rail station where we used it to get to Pompeii. The hotel Caravel is exceptionally clean, absolutely spotless, sheets and towels changed every day! The bar staff Giuseppe and Max couldn’t do enough and kept my bottle of red wine safe for me behind the bar. The restaurant itself is run by Angello, with his team of merry assistants, our waitress was Francesca, they couldn’t do enough. The buffet breakfast is more continental in style, but has a supply of bacon, sausage and the like, eggs can be ordered cooked fresh.I much preferred the traditional Italian pastries though. Hot drinks are served fresh and not out of nasty machines, coffee with a jug of hot milk hit the spot nicely. The evening meal in waiter served and was a pleasant surprise. The menus were well thought out and cooked to perfection. I would challenge anyone who said that there was no choice. I loved the pasta dishes, rabbit and traditionally cooked fish and beef. We shall returning.

Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely friendly hotel. The food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for you. Special mention to the staff in the restaurant wonderfully led by Angelo. Great location.

The hotel is in Sant'Agnello about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento (there is a complimentary shuttle bus). All areas of the hotel and grounds were well kept and clean, and there is a small pool at the front of the hotel. We had a very nice room at the rear of the property, on the 4th floor, with a corner balcony and fantastic views over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The staff were all courteous and efficient. We'd chosen the hotel on the basis of review comments about the quality of the food, so were sorely disappointed on our first dinner there. This is Italy after all, and they love their food and know how to eat! We both ordered the grilled fish, expecting something straight from the sea, all crispy-skinned and burnt at the edges. What we got was 2 identical pieces of 'boil-in-the-bag' fish, lukewarm, with some dire potatoes in a thin tomatoey sauce and a veg (can't remember what!). When we complained that food was practically cold, they did, give them their due change it, apologetically and without fuss: unfortunately we still got 2 identical-looking pieces of 'Birds-Eye' fish, but this time they were hot (and they had changed them, because we'd both taken a bit out of the first ones). And I chose the cheese selection to finish (this is Italy...) and got a plate with 3 'Kraft cheese-triangle-sized' pieces of processed cheeses. We didn't eat dinner there again! Breakfast was a good buffet with lots of choice, but again, the 'continental' style of food was let down by cheap cheese and processed ham squares. So a good hotel, but *don't* go there for the food - enjoy the quite location and the views. This being Italy, we did find good food around, indeed the Pizza place just down the road (Il Ruttino) served a fine selection, and their pizzas were cooked in about 30 seconds in their fantastic oven :-)

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in September on a Thompson’s......Tui package. A little worried as not been on a package holiday for 20 years. The hotel was just on the outskirts of Sorrento about 20 minutes walk to centre set in a quiet residential area. The public areas of hotel were very good as was the swimming pool and roof top terraces. Our room was a little basic for a 4 star but was large and very clean. We heard a little noise early in mornings from adjoining rooms but the ear plugs helped and we managed to sleep ok. The staff were very friendly in all areas of hotel from cleaners to waiters.......Excellent. We stayed on half board and the food was Great. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of choice with very good quality. Dinner and service was great, should be given 5 stars for quality. Overall we had a lovely holiday and would go back again.

We stayed here as part of a group and I have to say that the hotel, staff, and food was excellent. The staff could not have done more to make our holiday enjoyable. All of the hotel is clean and enjoyable to stay in and the dining room is very elegant. We upgraded our room which was a good size and balcony. Only problem only one plug socket. The hotel is outside the centre of Sorrento which suited us as it is a peaceful area to be and there is a courtesy bus both was, and its easy to use the train. Would be more that happy to return.

I am so pleased we decided to stay a little way outside of the centre of Sorrento, as we discovered it really is hectic even in October. Absolutely full of tourists. The hotel is actually in the area of Sant'Agnello and is really lovely. We were greeted by a very efficient and friendly receptionist. We had been allocated a room with a balcony with seaview. The room was large with comfortable bed and it was spotlessly clean. Only down side was very poor pressure on the shower. Good selection at breakfast. A special mention to the restaurant maitre de , he really has perfected the art of service. In fact all the serving staff were very good. There is an outside area where you can have a basic but tasty lunch. Dinner was not necessarily to my taste. This is a hotel used by Thompsons and other operators, but although busy at breakfast, service was not impaired when large groups arrived. I would say the overall ethos of this hotel is one of excellent service. We used the shuttle bus to go to town, it is provided free of charge. One word of warning, we took a taxi back from Sorrento on one occasion and it cost about 15 euro, very expensive, given the distance. I recommend you take the short walk down to the beach area, where you will be rewarded with fantastic views and you can have lunch at the little restaurant and watch the boats sail by. Many thanks for a lovely stay. I am happy to recommend this hotel.
