Beautiful hotel - we had a panoramic suite which was lovely. The hotel has an opulent old Italian glamour feel to it. Yes as a couple reviews have previously mentioned carpets a little worn in places but please do not let this put you off - it was a lovely stay with equally lovely, friendly and helpful staff in all departments. The chandelier (visible from the dining room) is absolutely amazing, furniture and fittings are of excellent quality. If you are wanting glitz this is probably not for you - if you looking for quality then please try this hotel. We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Hotel La Pace - thank you.
The Hotel La Pace is an extraordinary place, built in 1946 and refurbished in 2001 to a sort of high baroque style, it combines Fellini-style otherworldliness and glamour and real friendliness in one very beautiful package. In particular I have to note the extra special care and attention of the staff at La Pace, most notably on the reception where the lovely Brigida, Daniela and Teresa were always on hand to help with even the most minor queries and issues and every time were super-helpful and warm. They truly made staying at La Pace a real pleasure. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, I didn't want to leave and my week there was bliss. If you take a room on the front you have views out to sea and rooms on the back have mountain views and morning sun, each one is very nice indeed. Also the manager Vincenzo is a great guy. If in doubt, just go. The Sorrento coast is one of those places it's important to visit and see and La Pace is just down the road in the lovely Sant 'Agnello and is very peaceful and calm, a real oasis. And you have got to see the lobby, seriously, it's something else! And the staff are simply the best. Brigida, Daniela and Teresa thank you so much for making my stay such a pleasure. Hope to see you again soon!
We booked a week here after our youngest daughter got married and we needed a rest, having looked at the reviews I wasn't too sure about coming here but I am so glad we did. We were the first drop off the bus and were met in reception with a glass of champagne. The rooms in the hotel are quirky but spacious and spotlessly clean, in fact our room was cleaned twice a day while we were there. We enjoyed the food there was a choice for first and main course and a buffet for the starter and desserts, there was a good selection of starters although my favourite was the sachertorte. The staff really make this hotel special, they are so friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay enjoyable, we would go to breakfast at 7 and the same staff would still be there at evening meal (which finishes at 9:30) they work so hard but always had a smile, asked how our day had been and commented on my burnt face! Must mention the main man at meal times Mr Giovanni (I think that's his name) such a lovely man and you could tell he enjoys his job, also the lady with the lovely curly hair was so helpful and so sweet I would definitely return, well worth the money we paid.
We had a panoramic view room which was lovely, we had quick check in ,The staff are amazing, I do not think I have had better service anywhere .There are so many places to see , this was an amazing place , thank you to all the staff
With all the other reviews pretty much telling you as it is I'll add a couple of extra hints and helps If you would like a breakfast brought to your room maybe for a special occasion just ask at reception they really can't help you enough we did and the hotel didn't disappoint Also a birthday celebration just ask and they will make a bit of a fuss for you at dinner the staff really are the best I've come across anywhere Everything the hotel has to offer is done with a smile they are all a credit to la pace Rooms as you may have read clean spacious a little dated maybe but just ask if your disappointed and they really will do their level best Pool absolutely superb no fighting for sun beds whatever the time of day it is drinks bar handy and toastie snacks Food absolutely superb all buffet with exception of dinner you are treated to waiter service with a choice of 6 or so starters and main courses the salad bar is a buffet to start finished off with a sweet selection also buffet both most excellent as a previous writer said it does need the salad on ice and heat lamps over hot food but it's only a small point Courtesy bus reliable Tips for trips -- all the holiday firms offer day trips they are extremely expensive compared to other options and in some cases with people we spoke to unreliable and a let down If you want to take a trip to Capri under your own steam get to the port and book tickets independently 35€ return with a choice of boat times Same with amalfi coast go to port and book your own at a similar price return 37€ but there are only 2 boats a day going and 2 returning of course if you decide to skip the return trip it's only about 19€ one way and you can get the local bus back beware though it's long and very busy but it gives you more time in amalfi Amalfi boat times are from sorrento 10.30 and 14.45 Return amalfi to sorrento 11.35 and 15.55 A few more tips when going on the Vesuvius trips and Pompeii apart from the initial cost of your trip you also have an entrance admission per person of around about 10-12€ per attraction so it can add up that is whoever you go with again it can be done independently by train a lot cheaper and a short walk to the attractions I didn't do it so I can't give any more info Just a fab hotel, quirky, spotless and just perfect for lazy days in the sun , drinks on tap , food on tap , superb staff , smiley , fun and courteous Big thankyou to all at the grand hotel la pace for a really excellent holiday
Thank you for a very relaxing week (it felt like we had a fortnight so good). What a beautiful hotel. My husband booked and managed to get a suite at the same rate...it was huge, nearly 30ft long with a four poster bed, double sink and a Jacuzzi bath. A slight issue with the shower cubicle leaking, but I didn't take much convincing to spoil myself to a bubble bath with a g&t 😊. The view of Vesuvius and the mountains surrounding is simply stunning. The bar staff, Mrs Kikki, Alexandra, Vincenzo and Antonini to name a few are fantastic, great cocktails! The kitchen staff are doing well and if steak is on the menu go for it, my medium rare was full of flavour and very tender. A few improvements could be made in the transition to all inclusive buffet. Hot lamps for hot food and cool units for the salad would be better although all food seemed fresh. We also noticed that table cloths weren't changed between services, this would also be a good improvement. P.s. would someone tell the Thomas Cook rep Diane to let guests know if they have to go from a shuttle bus to a coach on the trip as this was a little confusing, also don't forget to keep a few 50 cents handy for the public toilets. Overall a really lovely holiday so thank you.
Most friendliest hotel with a difference we have ever stayed at, the decor was very lush and authentic. We had a suite on the top floor overlooking the rear of the hotel which was very scenic although the views from the front would be worth a little extra if desired. Our room was large and adequate. The service and friendliness on the whole could not be argued and although the hotel location was out of town it gave it made it more appealing to us. (Shuttle Bus Provided & very prompt on times)! The food was buffet at lunch times and breakfast and although looked a little sparse there was plenty of choice for the size of the hotel at dinner 4 courses the middle to starter and main are al carte with around 6 option on each and different every night again the main meals looked a bit nouveau cuisine but you soon realise that you've been feed plenty and the quality was one up on the usual buffet, Giovanni and his team would not let you leave empty anyway! The bar service again superb :) Marie Rose Mrs!, Alessandra and Antonio plus all the other staff Salute! Take the train to the main attractions the station is in walking distance of the hotel and so much cheaper pre book Pompei entrance tickets on line to save a hour queuing. Train $4 euro rtn $13 euro entrance tours cost around £38 for the same thing. The only negatives was the white wine quality although most of the week we had a choice of two the better one ran out before we departed all local branded product and the aircon in the room not very efficient although may have not been on due to season wasn't a real issue as we opened the doors at night but you will be woken by a Rooster or the Donkey if your out the back! Having read some of the negatives on here before going I would have to say that's not how we found it.
My daughter and I have just returned from a pre exam relax at this beautiful hotel. We chose Le Pace based on its traditional style, adult only status and comments about the staff. We don't normally do 'package' holidays but this hotel with Thomson was great value for money and we were delighted to find that apart from getting us there Thomson were not involved during our stay, so no reps hassling you in the hotel but available if you need them. We arrived on Good Friday after an early flight we were welcomed with a glass of bubbly and quickly given our room key, wifi code, pool towel cards, all inclusive bands and bus times. It was carefully explained that there had been a double booking and our sea view suite was not available until Monday. Huge apologies and complimentary spa treatments were given and the mountain view room we were allocated (609) was beautiful, spacious, clean and restful. We were assured that we would be moved on Monday. I have never stayed in a hotel where an error has been dealt with so professionally (especially as I suspect the error was with the outdated Thomson booking system). On the Monday we were quickly and efficiently moved to room 603 which has a double balcony with panoramic sea view, it was lovely. The suite rooms all have a large sitting room with a sofa bed, table & chairs, a walk in wardrobe and both of ours had a jacuzzi bath. We chose twin beds and there was plenty of room around the beds. Some aspects of the hotel decoration are tired but it is so clean and the service so good that you don't notice the odd stain (usually bleach) on the carpets. As with all hotels there are rooms with poor views on the lower floors but you don't spend long in your room so if your budget is tight you still have the views from communal areas of the hotel. The hotel is out of town but you can walk and there is an excellent free shuttle bus service. It's a short walk to the local Circumversuvia station where you can get a frequent cheap train that runs from Sorrento to Naples and all stations in between. We visited Pompeii independently, Vesuvius with Versuviana, Capri by small boat booked through Tiempo Travel in Sorrento. Trips were great value for money and well organised. Our trip to Capri with Giuseppe was the highlight, he made a fantastic boat tour and although we didn't like Capri town from the water it is beautiful. In the hotel restaurant Mr Giovanni is a legend, he was so welcoming and runs a very tight ship with eyes like a hawk. My daughter has to have a medical gluten free diet and is vegetarian, she was not ill once during this trip, most unusual as cross contamination in the kitchen or at a buffet table is an issue. Food is arranged so that risk of cross contamination is low and you can ask for anything you want to be prepared separately. Mr Giovanni was very attentive in ensuring she had something different every night. We originally planned not to use the restaurant (even though it was all inclusive) but we ended up eating in the hotel most nights as it exceeded our expectations. The choice of salad and fresh fruit was excellent. Most food is not self service so the hideous habits of the self service restaurant are restricted to salad and desert except at lunch and breakfast. Self serve trays are small and I did note staff removing food which had been poorly handled by guests, Mr Giovanni sees everything! On some evenings we had entertainment, the gala night with Tarantella was a delight, you just have to go with it! The pool is delightful with its panoramic view and well kept by Antonio who was also charming and attentive, the pool bar is efficient and welcoming. The spa and fitness centre are under utilised by guests but both were excellent, the spa treatments are excellent value perhaps they could increase use by offering a spa package? In the evening the lounge bar has live music and the lovely Massimo looked after us there, the hotel manager likes to do his turn in the bar as well. Everything about this hotel is like being welcomed into a family, nothing is too much trouble, we can't wait to return Christine & Ella
Well currently sat in Napoli airport waiting to board and reflecting upon our honeymoon. I booked La Pace based not on reviews but on a google search and a gut feeling. My gut was right. We've had an awesome honeymoon. Yes it's quirky, yes there are slight faults, yes there are bits and bobs that could be picked at and niggled about. BUT this is Italy! It is quirky, run down, built up, mad, crazy, frantic and wonderful. The hotel is an oasis of calm and nostalgia. The staff are exceptional! They made our stay from the ease of check in to each daily check up on our well being and that days plans. They assisted with bus and train knowledge, local events and of course a plentiful supply of food and booze. We used the hotel as a base - yes there's a 10 min walk to trains and buses but each are easy to use, frequent and simple to plan. We had a tick list of must do's from Pompeii to The Path of the gods and achieved each with ease and Neither of us do 'coach trips' planned and executed each day out ourselves. Easy as! Far cheaper and a more authentic experience than hours sat on a bus. Yes this is not your typical 24/7 5* all inclusive but that's exactly what we loved about it. We met wonderful people, had fantastic experiences, went on adventures, walked a total of 150 miles, lay in the sun, ate delicious food, drank brilliant cocktails, relaxed and enjoyed. We've truly loved every single moment of our 2 week honeymoon and would go back to both the area and La Pace in a heartbeat.
Traditional hotel with impressive entrance , fantastic friendly staff, spacious rooms overlooking pool. Food was excellent , plentiful and lots of choice each day. I loved staying there . A bit out of Sorrento but there a shuttle bus which runs all day every day into Sorrento. Decent sized pool but was rather cold which was the only drawback.
