Always have a great time this was our sixth time staying at the Flora over the last 20 years .As always thank you to all the staff making this a great holiday for us.looking forward to going back at some stage either later in the year or early next.
hotel wouldnt be everyones cup of tea especially for the fussy traveller but I have stayed in worse hotels. First off the staff are very friendly and helpful. Its a very clean hotel and in the perfect location as a base for exploring the region as the train station is a short 10 min walk away and close to the main square. Lovely outdoor pool area and the staff in the pool bar are very attentive too. A lovely touch was when we got back to the hotel for our last night a note from the hotel along with a small bottle of lemoncello as a thank you from the hotel for staying there The room we stayed in was very small however this shouldnt be much of a issue as you are not going to Sorrento to spend time in a bedroom. One negative was the powerwashing of sunbeds by the pool during the day while people wee lying out in the sun trying to relax.Surely a better time to do this would have been a week or two before the pool was opened for the summer. I heard a few people complaining about this Breakfast could be improved especially the hot food.. not exactly too warm
We stayed at the Flora for a week over the May Bank Holiday and had a brilliant time. We arrived after dinner had finished but were given a salad/cold plate, which was unexpected and well received. Our room was at front of the hotel on the 4th floor. Yes, if you had the balcony doors open it could be noisy, but we were aware of this when we booked. It was quite entertaining watching the Italian driving! The room itself was spacious and very clean with a small fridge - ideal for the white wine! The bathroom was fine too! The Dining Room is on the 5th floor with lovely views over Vesuvius. Waiters were all great. We found both breakfast and dinner to be really good - we struggled to understand how anyone has issues with the food here. Loads of choice at breakfast - the omelettes are particular good and cooked to order. Dinner was four courses with choices - everything was very tasty and well presented. Must give a mention to Michelle and Angelo who run the bar, always friendly and offering advice on local wines. Only slight downside was the lack of gin choices - the gin revolution hasn't got there yet and a bit more choice would be nice! The hotel is positioned within easy walking distance of the town itself including the railway station. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful - even when our door card failed after dinner one night and the lock had to be rebuilt! It was done as quickly as practicably possible. Overall we had a great holiday in a great hotel. Thank you Hotel Flora.
We have just left today. We stayed here for a week, the first room we stayed in was a room overlooking a busy road. We stayed in it the first night and hardly slept. So I spoke to reception who couldnt do enough for us and offered us 2 rooms. One was downstairs and no extra charge and the other was on the 5th floor and an upgrade of 30 euro per night with a lovely sea view. We chose this option. Breakfast was ok, they catered for Gluten Free and offered cereal, bread etc in the morning. Must make a special mention to the bar staff Michelle in particular was lovely and always had time for a chat.
We stayed here the last week in April for a week on half board basis the hotel itself is fine most of the staff are very good the pool was extremely cold even after the shock of getting in it was still freezing secondly the head maitre d’ in the restaurant seems to be a bit of himself although the other waiting staff are very good Generally I found the hotel to be fine they gave us a room to the front of the hotel which I initially objected to, but then I was glad because rear rooms look really boring is all you could see was the pool it was interesting being on the front seat see all the hustle and bustle of the city. there is a lot of pollution in Sorrento and if you are averse to the pollution it’s not very nice. In conclusion the hotel is fine no better or worse than others the menu could do with being improved but then again Sorrento is very expensive eating out is even more expensive The breakfast was extremely disappointing
Stayed at hotel in late April and was really looking forward to visit as picked this hotel because of Tui overview of lovely pool only to get there and find out that it didn't open until 1st of May!!! Unless you searched the real small print this was not apparent!!! Unfortunately the reception staff left a lot to be desired but the restaurant staff were amazing. 1st class!!!also Rosemary the chambermaid was more than helpful. And the lift kept breaking down.
Was very disappointed when we arrived to find pool not open as hotel advertisement was focused around the lovely big pool. This was not written on TUI overview page and we were not the only guests to have missed this information that it did not open till 1st may bearing in mind weather was hot. Apart from Chris who was great the reception staff that we saw were unhelpful and defensive. Food was very good and waiting staff excellent, they could teach the reception staff a few lessons in customer service. Rosemary was lovely. Lifts kept breaking down.
Just felt I had to leave a review after reading some previous reviews. We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have yet to have a bad experience. The Staff are genuinely very welcoming and friendly and they cannot do enough for you. Fantastic views from the restaurant along with typical Italian food. They have a varied menu and there is plenty to choose from. We always found the food to be of good quality and always look forward to our next meal. The breakfasts are ok. Typical Italian fare. The hotel is ideally situated on the Corso Italia and it’s just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento. If you want a quiet room ask for one at the back when you make your booking with Tui.
We booked this hotel as a girlie break for 3 best friends, we thought sorrento was the perfect choice for us and the hotel looked lovely from the pics online. Appeared to be just the right amount of class and Italian elegance. When we arrived we were happy with what greeted us. We had a triple room, which was plenty big enough with a cute balcony overlooking the sea and pool which was good. We already knew that the pool would not be open for We had booked the hotel for a group of 3 best friends to come away to sorrento for the weekend, and the hotel really appealed to us as location looked great and had just the right amount of elegance about it! Check in was smooth and we had booked a triple room which we were given and was a good size with a balcony overlooking the sea and the pool. We did know the pool wasn’t to be open during our stay, so we’re prepared for this, it was a disappointment as didn’t know when we booked, but it wasn’t new info for our arrival. We then explored the immediate area, and found the 10 min or so walk to the main part of sorrento absolutely fine and easy to navigate along one main road down to the main town square and marina, all very straight forward. Had no issues with any staff all very helpful and gave us an extra room card for the room. Only slight thing with room was it was clearly set up as a twin room as there were only 2 of most things for example only 2 chairs on the balcony and 2 cups in the bathroom etc, this could have been fixed by the hotel but also we didn’t ask so not an issue. The main problem which sadly had a massive effect on our enjoyment of the hotel was the absolute terrible quality of the food. After our exploring on our first day we were excited to see the restaurant as the pics on the website show what amazing views etc are up there. However we arrived into a very crowded dining room, with tables much too close together. We selected our choices from a set menu and also were told about the salad buffet in the centre of the room. When the food came it was genuinely inedible- and I can’t recall a time when I have not been able to eat any food in a restaurant / hotel ever before! There was a horrid taste to everything we had, the worst being the mashed potato which was very hard and dry and difficult to negotiate! We attempted to eat a little but had to leave as could not consume anything at all. The bread rolls were also as hard as small rocks - very bad. We thought perhaps breakfast would be a better and easier meal to prepare so gave it another try, but unfortunately it was just as inedible, the hot options were anything but hot and the buffet section was terrible also. So we remained hungry until we found some food later that day! We made a decision that we could not eat in the hotel, despite having paid for half board for our weekend. We also spoke to quite a few people around the hotel who had the same experiences, we are not fussy! I just had the requirement that from a 4* hotel the food should be of a good even edible standard and it was not! This really disappointed us about the hotel and although we had an amazing time in sorrento I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for the above reasons.
As a hotel that sells itself around the fact it has a beautiful blue pool, we were so disappointed when we told it is not ready until 'high season' which starts 1st May. It would have been great to chill by the pool even if we had not gone in. Not the same when it is an empty hole! This is a very busy hotel and it's a shame they are trying to save money by not opening the pool until May. Please be more honest to your guests. If you advertise a pool then have one.
