The hotel is a beautiful building in THE central location of lovely Sofia. It is clean, tasteful, and comfortable. The rooms are of a good size and the beds (even the extra child's one) are good if you like them really soft. The staff are very polite, efficient, pleasant and helpful. They all speak excellent English and many also speak Greek. The lobby is impressive but with limited seating for waiting, the breakfast is overpriced and indifferent and if you go after 10am tired from exposure for too long on the buffet.
A very nice hotel in the center off Sofia! A part off the Sofia center buildings! The hotel is near everything that you need too see in Sofia! The personal was excellent and very helpful to everything! The best thing I liked was that they were always smiling! The breakfast was excellent! I would definitely go again!
The location is excellent: right in the city center. Everything is in walking distance. I recommend to take the subway from the airport, which only costs ~1$ and just takes 20 min. Get out at “Serdica” and the hotel is right there. Breakfast buffet had a good selection and offers egg specialities made-to-order.
Came to Sofia, for a 2 day stay and the hotel of my choice was Sofia Hotel Balkan. The experience was very well, all the staff was helpful and polite during the whole stay. Just one thing to mention is probably the situation with the parking spots at that time. Reception desk staff was world class in my opinion.
Had the pleasure to stay at The Balkan in the beginning of the month. I can hardly express how delighted I was with the service I received. Upon arrival I greeted by a lovely male receptionist and my stay went all the way up from this point on. In the evening I was offered a drink at the Stardust Restaurant and was received great advise as for nightlife option for the evening. My room was nicely decorated, with a beautiful view of the St. Nedelya Church. Another surprise were the chocolates and bottle of wine waiting for me in the room - felt really welcome. As a frequent SPG traveler gestures like this are what defines luxury hotel experience. Already booked my next stay for the summer
Rooms are relatively big, but in desperate need for an update, as no significant re-work seems to have been done since the '90s. No impressive sleep quality either. The only heating option is AC which is old and pretty loud. I find the place heavily overrated.
I have stayed at a few hotels in Sofia, but this one is well decorated, the staff are friendly and happy, and the rooms are well appointed . I would recommend this to anybody, it is well positioned and very central
A beautiful and elegant hotel in Sofia city center .. The rooms very comfortable. The staff always ready to serve us with kindness made our stay really pleasant. The building is renovated and we are sure that the present enthusiastic staff will make it perfect! The only sure thing is that we will go back to see this magnificent building become the new jewel of Sofia !!
Stayed here for 3 nights and whilst the hotel is in need of upgrade which we understand is ongoing we were quite happy with our stay and the service. We were met checked in and room was dated but clean enough. Not much f and b to choose from but with many great restaurants to choose only a stone throw away, no real need. The location is amazing and valise to shops metro and restaurants, you won't find better. When all improvements finished we look forward to return.
Nice building in the center of the city very close to any place we would like to visit...very helpful staff always ready to serve us!Its decoration looks like old times...we will surely visit it again to see also the results of its renewal!
