We had a family wonderful stay, overall. Food was expensive and rooms (Garden Section) lighting was very poor. Full of mosquitos, first days we were eaten alive in the rooms. Need to fumigate more. Besides that, its a place to come back. Greetings! Roxy

The only issue we had with the resort is that we arrived early an anticipated spending a few hours at the restaurant or beach waiting for our room. The staff was confused as to what to do with us and expected us to stay at the office which is no where near the beach, restaurant or anything else. They did take us to the restaurant but we felt they should have been more proactive in seeing that we were accommodated rather than assume we would fend for ourselves in the middle of no where (where the office is) for several hours. WHy the office for checking in is not closer to the facilities was a surprise.

Beautiful scenery. Apartment was fully equipped. My hubby the cook did not like the stove. But after many attempts to learn how to operate it things went better. The only complaint I had, which is very minor, is that our apartment was so close to the beach but a long way to walk around to get there.

Loved the location and the spacious rooms but hotel staff significantly lacks customer service skills. Not planning to stay here next time.

Not very satisfied, not on beach as implied, restuarnt not a good menu, electric keep going out, did not call us for wake up call and that made us miss our flight so 7:30am had to wait until 16:00 for next flight at airport and to top that getting to miami no more flights to houston had to sleep in airport till next morning.

Blue Bay Hotel is really great overall. It was clean and modern. The view of Blue Bay from the room was amazing - it overlooked the water, golf course, and a small valley from a very large balcony. Our room was a 3 bedroom & 3 full bath which was more than enough space for 2 people (6 people could be comfortable with our set up). The staff was attentive and very professional - showed me the room and also sent someone else up to show how to use the in-room safe. The beach club is convenient (short walk/drive) and the food there is great! They also have an optional grocery package so you can have some drinks and basic food in your room upon arrival - this is a great touch. Minor issues: * Our room didn't have central air, BUT all bedrooms had wall units that were quite cold. Curacao is VERY hot... * TV reception wasn't so great and no DVD players in our room * Blue Bay is under development, so there is a lot of construction going on (didn't bother us much) Would definitely stay there again!!!

We just got back and had a nice experience. The resort is more like a real estate development with some apartments available to rent, than a true hotel. Our unit was a one bedroom suite on the second floor of the hill unit, which is where the main offices are located. The unit was clean and roomy, with a nice kitchen, and the air conditioning was super powrful. The pool was right downstairs and spotless. The beach was about 1/4 mile away and as it was so warm this time of year, we chose to drive over with our rental car, and the beach is arguably one of the nicer ones on the island. Shopping for groceries was convenient and inexpensive at a large supermarket about 5 minutes away by car, so we chose to prepare all of our own breakfasts and lunches, and to use our budgeted funds for dinners out, mostly. We golfed several times at the Blue Bay course, which is available to use for just $30 usd at 5 pm to allow you to play 9 holes with a cart, which is a bargain , especially given the quality of the course. I was worried about the reports of odors from the nearby refinery but while noticeable occasionally, it was far from intrusive. Most of the tourists on Curacao are Dutch or from Colombia and Venezuela, but perhaps 10% are from the US. You will enjoy your visit if you rent a car and are a little bit adventurous, as you will need to decipher the maps and road signs which are in Dutch, but the locals are friendly and polite. Explore the island, including visiting Christoffel National Park and some of the West End beaches like Cas Abao, or Kenepi Grandi or Playa Porto Marie, and you will have a very enjoyable vacation.

My husband and I had a wonderful time in Curacao. We had reserved a 1 bedroom apartment and when we arrived we were put in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment. It was clean and comfortable. Having a kitchen was a great convenience. Our apartment was on the first level and privacy was a bit limited but not a major issue so I recommend requesting a room on a higher floor if that is a concern. A car was definitely essential as most of our activities were off site. Driving wasn't too challenging. We did take advantage of the beach of course and it was beautiful. We stayed away from the onsite restaurant because of the reviews and found some great places to eat and hang out in Piscadera Bay, Punda and Outrabanda. Overall this was a great choice and we will definitly consider staying there again.

Convenient to airport, downtown Willemstad & modern / well equipped supermarket. Beach/bay/reefs were in great shape, clean, not too crowded. Unit was clean / modern & well equipped. Issues at check-in were addressed fairly promptly, tho some took repeated calls / visits to reception (~5 min walk from beach & unit). Kitchen was well equipped, w/ toaster, electric kettle, auto-drip coffee maker (no filters), dishwasher (no detergent tabs provided & don't take liquid soap). However, instructions for combo oven/microwave were only in Dutch.

Gated community convenient to airport & downtown (car required). 'Oceans' building overlooked beach, bay, dive shop, gift store, 2 pools, bar, & only restaurant. Reception was at hotel which was ~5 min walk straight up from beach. Not much to the gym, but more than your typical US hotel 'fitness center'. Didn't play golf, but many others did. Didn't see anyone use the tennis courts. Plenty of space & lounge chairs on the beach. Reefs just outside the bay were in good shape w/ lots of fish. Unit was modern w/ well equipped kitchen, but combo oven/microwave had instructions only in dutch. small appliances included toaster, kettle for boiling water & auto-drip coffee maker (no filters provided). Dish washer would not take liquid soap & no detergent tabs provided.

location is convenient to Hato airport & downtown Willemstad if have car. Centrum supermarket is ~5 mins by car & is well stock & modern w/ ATM, bakery & more. Nice beach & several pools. Reefs outside bay were in good shape. We stayed in Oceans building at the beach, which overlooked the dive shop, gift store, bar, only restaurant, & beach. Accommodations were clean & modern. Some issues when we 1st checked in, and most were promptly addressed by staff. However, a few took several calls / visits to reception. Well equipped kitchen, which we used ~50% of the time, but the combo oven / microwave, we could not figure out how to operate, since instructions were only in Dutch. Provided also were a toaster, electric kettle for boiling water, & an automatic drip coffee maker (no filters provided). While there was a dishwasher, there were not tabs (could not use liquid) provided.

The secure Blue Bay resort is a great central location, an important consideration for anyone planning to explore the entire island. Don't count on reliable bus transportation; a car is a necessity no matter where you stay in Curacao, even useful on the many acres of land occupied by the resort itself. Helpful, friendly desk staff, once you can find your way to the very poorly signed reception area. Our large one-bedroom hotel apartment was clean, with well-equipped kitchen. WiFi, TV reception not reliable. Grounds well kept. Pool area beside hotel section had no shade, thus not well-used. Small but well-serviced sandy beach was 5 minute walk. Good snorkelling, even for children - walk in off beach. Only restaurant on property, beside beach, is comparatively expensive, but food very good. For a unique and less costly alternative meal in a beautiful palapa, go about 10 km toward Westpunt end of island and stop at Martha's Tapas. Some restaurants, museums, art galleries are closed on Mondays; check ahead. We recommend visits to Curacao Liquer Factory, Hato Caves, Nena Sanchez art gallery in restored Jan Kok landhuis, and UNESCO heritage Kura Hulanda village and slavery museum in downtown Willemstadt. When shopping for groceries, try Centrum supermarket near Blue Bay Resort. Expect prices similar to Canada, USA. Be aware that anything charged to your credit card will automatically be converted from guilders to US dollars, so people other than US citizens will end up paying two exchange conversions - one in Curacao and another when converted back to your home currency. ATMs charge a substantial fixed fee for every withdrawal, but probably your best bang for your buck is to pay for purchases in guilders cash. Curacao offers many wonderful snorkelling and diving sites. On the downside, the island habitat is garbage-ridden and generally unappealing. There needs to be significant improvement on road signage on streets and main routes within Willemstadt.
