Stayed with a friend in Jan 2018. Location very convenient, it’s just on top of the Outram Park MRT station with its own exit. It’s also walkable distance to Chinatown. Lobby is quite cosy and room generally clean. However the room quite small and the design of toilet is like some reviewer mentioned before, it’s quite strange. The mirror of toilet is on the door of the wardrobe and the door of the wardrobe is a part of the wall of the toilet. Which if we slide the door and close the wardrobe, there’s no mirror in the toilet. The toilet is not a totally enclosed space. It’s ok as I was traveling with a very close friend but even so, It was quite awkward as the one inside the room can able to hear all the sound the one in the bathroom made. Really hope that the hotel can change the design.
We did not stay in the hotel but was there for a drink but what greeted our short visit was simply the amazing attitude that prompted me to write this review. We were greeted by a young gentlemen who offer to help me push one of the wheelchair to my mum who needed to use the washroom while I was helping my dad with the other wheelchair... he even request us not to wait in the front door but to wait in the lobby which was cooler and even ask whether my dad needed water... for a young gentlement to be so caring, such attitude is missing from many today. Next while waiting for our driver to arrive, another young lady Jasmine brought a stool from the front desk for my aging mum without us requesting for it and the front office manager Michelle even help us to hail a taxi as the 1st car would not allow 2 wheelchair plus 4 passenger... their courteous and kind gesture is indeed amazing and this is a hotel I would very much like to stay the next time I am in Singapore.. Kudos to their great attitude.
Everything about the hotel is great. Except for the design of the bathroom (after comparing notes with my colleagues, I find that this is dependent on the floor). The room I got on the high floor, the door to the shower opens outwards into the small bathroom walkway - it means to get out from the shower, you would really have to step dripping into the room before closing the shower door and walking back into bathroom area/sink. Wherever you put the floor towel, you will have to shuffle it back in place after entering or exiting. And not too convenient if you have guest in the room. Should have used a sliding door and solve the problem. *They do have a fantastic iron provided in room that is better than most that I have used.
Stayed at this hotel in December for 4 nights to experience thee xmas lights on Orchard road MRT at hotel doorstep making it very easy to get around Singapore on the trains Close to Chinatown and eating establishments and room ok size for Singapore standards and buffet breakfast was adequate but not great Have stayed at better hotels in Singapore but you get what you pay for but all in all not bad
The hotel is located near a train station so very convenient to get around. There was tea making facility but we had to use the bedside socket to boil the kettle. We did not have the expensive breakfast in hotel as it is in Chinatown so lots of restaurants nearby. At the moment there are lots of decorations and sales for Chinese New Year. We had a twin room which was very compact. The bathroom was a weird design with restricted movement. There was no bath but only shower which was fine as we dont use bath during holidays. The glass door is used for both the shower and toilet. The wardrobe slide door which shuts the bathroom leaves a gap so really the bathroom didn't close completely. The toiletries and tea bags were not replenished on a daily basis. There was no doorman at the entrance when we arrived late evening.
thanks for making us feel welcome. We enjoyed our 3 night stay and it was a convenient location for our purposes. Its a short walk from Chinatown and right next to Outram MRT, making it very easy to get around. thanks again!
Good location in the city center Direct metro station even to go to airport Room comfortable Breakfast to be improved, quality of food proposed not really tasted Service ok Difficult to negotiate late check out
Stayed for 3 weeks on a business trip. The location is super convenient. You can get to the Outram park station by elevator through the hotel. You'd also be a 7 minute walking distance from the Chinatown food street and a 20 minute walk to the Downtown business district. Check in is very efficient. I thought their breakfast spread was really good and fresh, having been not so impressed at some of the other hotels I've stayed at in Singapore. During my last week, I caught a fever and couldn't walk out. The receptionist kindly offered to have some food sent up. They also sent me some fruit and a Get Well card, which I thought was really sweet. Only thing I'd ask to be improved is that vacuuming of the room be done more frequently. Would definitely stay with them again!
Located in Chinatown with the MRT next door this hotel is one stop from Harbourfront Station with its high quality shopping centre and perhaps more importantly the gateway to Sentosa Island. The hotel was good value for the price we paid through booking.com but would not be good value if booked directly with the hotel. The room was average. It was 2 levels with the bed located upstairs in what could only be described as an internal balcony which only fitted the bed. Interesting, but I am still unsure of the practicality of the configuration suffice to say that one person could go to sleep whilst the other person could watch the tv downstairs. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Overall being such a good location would probably make me consider staying at the same hotel again.
Another fabulous stay here. Firstly, didn’t have the breakfast here (ate at the hawker centres) or swim in the pool (rained most days). One criticism was the hot water in the bathroom sink wasn’t very hot. Checkin with the staff was so efficient. May was terrific. The room was really spacious and spotlessly clean. The location is really good for getting the MRT everywhere (one stop to Sentosa). Do yourself a favour and get the travel card not the 6 use ticket. The latter is double the price at least per trip. Taxis are okay but we also used Grab cars. Uber was more expensive than Grab. We used the MRT to get to Sentosa, Little India, Suntec shopping mall and Old Airport Hawker Centre to name a few. That’s why Dorsett is just great. Overall, the location, super friendly staff and lovely room make this hotel my first choice when it’s available.
