Rooms are nice. Quite small but good enough and king size beds are super comfy. Noise was really minimal which was surprising considering it’s on a busy street. Girls at reception were always super nice as well. Pool area is quite large - gym is pretty average but standard for a hotel.
Nice pool, comfortable bed, cool room... Room Service is tops as well. Good for travelers with a slightly bigger budget. Its a boutique hotel with a touch of class. Friendly staffs and accessible location to public transport
My fiancee and I came here for our staycation to celebrate our anniversary. We managed to book our room with the 52% off due to SG52. To cut the long story short, let's take a look at the pros and cons: Pros: + Because of our for our anniversary, we were provided with a complimentary cake, extended 1 hr to our check out timing and upgraded to balcony room with the view of the fish pond right outside our room! + Located right above Outram park mrt station + They replied email quite promptly, their counter staff are friendly and always serve us with smiles on their faces + Room size is just right for us + Bed is big and comfortable + Excellent sleep quality + Aircon setting is adjustable + Check-in was quick Cons: - Poor soundproof as we can hear people talking loudly outside our room and even people making out in their room when we walked along the corridor - Called up the reception to ask for 2 more as we finished our 2 bottles but was told that usually they don't provide additional bottles of water and they will usually ask their guests to consume the big bottle of water in the room which cost S$5?! The staff then informed me that they will make this an exception and provided us with 2 more bottles. - Pillows are too soft Overall, we are satisfied with our stay here and will recommend this hotel.
Enjoyed my stay here for a business trip. Would recommend this! Pros: - Near outram park MRT - I personally love the surrounding area, lots of lovely colonial style buildings, not difficult to find good food within walking distance - Clean and comfortable - Decent sized pool and gym - Bathroom door! (Sliding frosted glass door but I'm not complaining, as doors are apparently not a common fixture for hotels in Singapore) - High ceiling - nice view from balcony Cons - Pool overlooking construction side (not hotel's fault) Neutral - room size: considered okay for Singapore. Depending on what room size you are used to, this is a little bit on the smaller side, but bathroom size is actually pretty good. It was acceptable for me!
Loved being right on top of the MRT station. Room was small but well-furnished, and I seem to have gotten the Wheelchair Accessible one so the bathroom was quite roomy. It does seem a little pricey for a solo traveler, so might come out cheaper if traveling with others.
The front desk staffs "J" and her manager "M" were friendly and exceptional upon check in. I give them five stars alone for such professionalism. However the room itself is dropped to three stars. We had a deluxe room. I would return to the Dorsett if only they'd fill that weird bathroom gap (see pictures). I just can't seem to understand this modern open concept. The wide shower door also opens to 180 degrees to be used as a door to the toilet. If you didn't figure this out, someone can see you sitting in the toilet from the bedroom section. Why not just enclose this lame gap? Toiletries provided were standard and the beds were good (not hard as most Asian hotels). I didn't realize that one of their bath towels is an orange stripped color. At first I thought housekeeping left some previous guest's towels but upon inspection, the label said Dorsett. Lol. I guess I'm used to all white towels. Breakfast was not so great. Bacons weren't fully cooked. Don't bother with dinner at the Amuse restaurant- I had participated in a group welcome dinner and they served as cold fish on potatoes! The fish had been precooked and refrigerated hours earlier and they forgot to heat it up before serving. Skip the meals from this restaurant and go over to Chinatown instead. Good location above the Outram Park metro station and 10 minutes easy walk to Chinatown. Overall Dorsett needs to fix that bathroom gap and train the restaurant staff before I return again.
Well, I stayed several days for business in Singapore and this time I wanted to try Dorsett. The flashy website caught me. Unfortunately, the hotel staff could not handle my expectations. The room I got after check in smelled like someone has smoked there for days. After I complained, I was upgraded to a larger room. The interior of the room and the bathroom was nice. However, the linnen were absolutely dirty- not only on the first but on several days. After several complaints to the regular staff as well as the manager, they granted me 1 (!) comlplimentary lunch at the restaurant. No learning curve on behalf of the cleaning staff whatsoever. The gym is small and basic. The pool is relatively large though. The good thing about the hotel is that the MRT-station Outram Park is about 2 minutes by foot. Also, if you like to visit China Town, this might be a place to stay for you. Personally, I will not come back to Dorsett.
Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel before our recent cruise. Staff very friendly and most helpful. On our return one night to get a room with a lovely bath. Will return and stay again. Motel close to china town and transport
Dorsett Hotel Singapore is located near with MTR Outram Park, it's about 200 meters. Recommended place to stay, very clean for bed and bathrooms. Beside that, this hotel has modern concept with excellent hospitality...
This is a busy hotel on the edge of Chinatown. I have stayed here several times. Normally just for one night or two as I was attending meetings . This time we stayed for four nights as we were here for a wedding as well. The rooms are clean and the air con very good. Nice carpets and a lap pool. There is a micro brewery opposite the entrance but we were disappointed in the food. There are many restaurants nearby and the hotel is conveniently located for the MRT. The staff are helpful - we managed to lose our wedding gift and they took great efforts to recover it.
