In the midst of a cold January day I stumbled across Hotel Il Borgo di Villa Castelletti on tripadvisor. I was wowed by the reviews and the scenery and the overall consensus that this is a place to return back to time and time again. I immediately booked up 5 days over my birthday in late April with my boyfriend and the excitement began! Having been on a stuffy ryanair flight, and then the doubledecker train from Pisa- the simple laidback ambience of Signa was a breath of fresh air. We were collected by the Hotel's taxi driver and even though it was a little late in the afternoon we were greeted by Marcela with a huge smile and bundles of enthusiasm. Leisurely waltzing over to the outbuilding that houses the majority of the guests we were taken back by the sheer beauty of the grounds. Our room was cosy, romantic and equipped with everything you could possibly want/ need. The mezzanine level housing our bed and tv would welcome us back every evening after lengthy walks and food overload. The rooms are all designed/ appreciative of a single artist and i loved the quirky original feel to the room. Why on earth would you want to stay in a bog standard chain hotel room again? We spent our first evening and our final evening in the delightful restaurant that is housed under the opulent driveway towards the Villa Castelleti - please if you go put some time aside to wander around the grounds of the magnificent Villa (they have weddings there) and it is really quite beautiful. La Quercia was a delight, with a stripped back Tuscan menu, gorgeous decor, fabulous waiters and milling with locals - a sign of the fantastic food served here. The restaurant was exceptionally reasonable given the level of service & food provided. We took the steep walk back to our room and collapsed in a heap of carbohydrate induced exhaustian. Florence is evidently the pulling point for heading to this neck of the woods, and the blissful walk through vineyards and olive groves to the train station is a vision! Don't get a taxi just enjoy the walk (put good trainers on!) and greet the locals of Signa on your way. May I add that one day we were off hand chatting to Marcela and she ever so kindly offered to drop us to the station as she was heading that way at a certain time. This is the sort of thing displayed by the staff here as they are not robots they are real people with a passion for hospitality and making your stay perfect! I really must stress to anyone thinking of booking this hotel, to factor in some time to just soak up Hotel Il Borgo di Villa Castelletti. This hotel completely chilled me out: sit round the pool and listen to the birds and watch the lizards dart over the old brickwork, take a stroll down to the lake and listen to the trees swaying, go exploring and ride a bike to Renai park or sit on the patio with a nice panini and a glass of local vino d'rosso. This is such a beautiful hotel with incredible grounds, don't miss it! Breakfast! Oh my goodness. The breakfast at the hotel is sublime and all made on site. The two ladies in the kitchen work super hard to ensure everyone is catered to. They remember your coffee orders and greet you good morning with a genuine smile. The cappucino's i had every morning are probably the best cappucino's i've ever had. The fresh pastry and the fruit and the meats and the cakes! What a fantastic way to start the day and fuel your body for a big day of exploring. Finally, I would like to offer the greatest thanks to Marcela - she was the stand out star for our time at Borgo di Villa Castelleti. But not to be forgotten, Altea, Alessandro & the two lovely ladies who made us breakfast every morning - I'm so sorry i didnt get your names. The people here make something beautiful - outstanding. I would definitely return and I would encourage anyone to avoid the hustle and bustle of Florence and stay in this little drop of paradise in the Tuscan countryside. Maya & Daniel (Room 7)

When finding a place like villa casteletti, accidently, with a family of 6 (1 year old baby!) After 4 hours drive in rain from Milan and running away from a frozen villa in a nearby village in a frozen mid-February 2009, one blesses one's luck.yet, no luck is involved here; I know so because Alessandro, his team, the suites, the grounds, the location, the good, the caring and smiles, all mount up to an unforgettable experience, one I see also shared by many others reviewing it, without an exception, so supporting over years, my original thoughts , although belated, but nonetheless confirming that Borgo di Villa Casteletti is indeed a jem, one I prefer hidden for us all, and one which I share here because Allesandro deserves every guest. And BTW - the annual new year greeting card is the nicest extra, each year. Keep it up, Alessandro!

We stayed here as a base whilst visiting Tuscany to attend a wedding. It is a beautiful hotel - our room was lovely and quiet and comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated with artworks. The food was lovely - self-service and eaten al-fresco on the terrace. The proprietor is a bit of a character with plenty of friendly banter. Ideal if you want peace and quiet away from it all. Hire car is recommended to get about though.

It is located in the middle of the beautiful Tuscany's countryside, away of towns and villages. You must have your own car (and gps) to drive around. The hotel is quaint romantic with big rooms, nicely decorated, comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast of high quality. Very hospitable personnel.

Many thanks to Alessandro and his staff for their care, kindness and efficient service during our two day stay. We were four couples having been in Italy for several weeks and returning home after this last stop near Firenze. Castelletti is located perfectly to visit metro areas like Lucca, Pisa, or Florence in a single day. Great meals in their restaurant for dinner. The best breakfast ever! Help recommending local restaurants that were amazing. Help came quickly coordinating taxi and transportation at odd hours from train to the property or to the airport. And thoughtful consideration to provide us with morning snacks before leaving early for flights. Now, the property itself is another wonder one must see to believe. Every guest should walk the cypress lined drives, visit the main Villa estate and the lake behind. Expect to hear songbirds, sight a rabbit or perhaps a dear. Bring your camera. The suites are wonderfully appointed and themed to honor some of the worlds most accomplished artists. All in a Medieval architecture environment. This is rural Italy just 25 minutes from Florence's airport. So glad we found Castelletti as we unwound a bit before a long return home!!

One of the best customer service here so i would give them 5 stars, but it is quite far from the signa station and i didnt find any taxi for 2 hrs when reached here at 9:30.So if no car, you need to inform the hotel before 9pm.Its 10 euro per trip to hotel

We were travelling all over Italy and had booked here for 2 nights. How we regret that! Firstly the staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. Our room was much better than we could have hoped for, set on 2 floors with a dining table, chairs, fridge and cooker, which came in very handy on the night where we just wanted to stay at the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is in a lovely setting, near the lake. You won't be disappointed if you stay here. Best wishes to Alessandro x (the lady who cried when she left!)

Truly unforgettable. The setting. The rooms, The staff. The meals. I could go on and on but I have to try and write this review !! From the time that you arrive at reception you just knew that your in good hands and that your stay is going to be a memorable one. After the formalities are out of the way your shown to you suite,(all of which are all named after famous artists) which are tastefully decorated and the information folder contains invaluable information about the district, trips the hotel and facilities, together with the background of your artist. As we arrived close to lunchtime we were offered a light lunch and a choice of wines and cold drinks from the well stocked refrigerator. A brilliant and well prepared meal, which was well appreciated. Following unpacking we visiting the pool, which was adequately equipped with sun loungers and small drinks/sun cream table and two shaded areas,it was quiet and refreshing, exactly what was needed. Later we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant later and booked a table through reception. Wow is an understatement for that experience. Manned by Frederico and his staff you were treated to magnificent food, keenly priced, all of which were prepared and served in next to no time. Everything on the menu was delicious and only wish I was there now!! We made four more visits each proving to be a success and enjoying beautiful food. The following morning we went to the covered terrace for breakfast and was greeted by Alessando. A person bursting with energy, fun and a great sense of humour, who guided to the breakfast experience. Never have we experienced anything like it. Not only were you able to help yourself to the usual continental breakfast but there was everything else that you could possible think of - cake, pizza, fresh fruit, cereals, fruit salad, boiled eggs, scrambled egg, bacon, toast, four types of croissants and as much tea or coffee, together with a further selection of herbal teas. Absolutely brilliant. Throughout the week the staff couldn't have been more helpful, from taxiing us to the station, to telling us about events, wine tasting, booking restaurants etc. etc. Nothing seemed to much trouble. On top of these outstanding establishments they also have the Villa Castelletti which hosts Weddings, conferences, parties and corporate launches for up to 550 people. How they do it I don't know especially when they treat you like an individual. All that we can say is congratulations to Lucca, Marcella, Cinzia, Marco, Alessandro and all of the other staff on running an absolutely fantastic and magnificent establishment and hope that they are able to continue to do so for the future and we hope to return there soon.

Stayed with my family of 5 for 4 days in August and Villa Castelletti was fantastic! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the terrace was wonderful. The pool and ping pong were great to relax before/after setting out on our daily excursions to Florence, Chianti, and beyond. The rooms were clean and comfortable for 5, although a bit dark. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice and they were some of the best meals that we had in Italy. You do need a car if you stay here. 10 minute ride to train station in Signa (free parking) and 20 minute train ride into Florence which was very convenient.

Attended Villa Di Castelletti to entertain at a 3 day wedding at the end of July. The place is amazing, with superb views and great attentive staff. The owners are so nice and approachable and go out of their way to help. Special mention to Gaia who worked tirelessly to ensure all of the wedding events went perfectly. Overall, great food, great view, great staff, great experience! Thank you :)
