Our first visit to Siem Reap Cambodia was with low expectations until we saw the huge new resorts around. We had used a Vietnamese travel company organize our tour through Vietnam and Cambodia and had requested 4 star accommodation throughout. Generally they were good to excellent each with there own pro's and con's. The first impressions of the Angkor Century Resort and Spa were good and the staff were very attentive but there were annoying maintenance issues with the rooms for our group that disappointed. The very spacious rooms and excellent air conditioning were much appreciated but were offset by tired furnishings, inadequate lighting, and persistent shower water supply problems to the outdated shower/bath combo's. The enormous pool and surroundings were very clean and well maintained as were the rooms. The hard bed mattresses meant that we need to take advantage of the wonderful hotel spa massage alongside the relaxing pool area. This hotel was well located (only USD$3 TUTT TUTT) to the centre of town and in a very quiet area. It must have been a prestige conference hotel in the 80's but it is now overdue for a makeover to take advantage of the spacious rooms. We also struggled a bit with the Asian designed breakfast buffet but the manager did emphasize that we only need to request any additional European items. Overall we were secure, safe and comfortable in an aging resort.
Very helpful and courteous staff, they know their city and have good suggestions on places to go. They have a good buffet breakfast, which will keep you for the day until dinner, if you are out and about the Angkor temple complex. They have large spacious room. It is a close walk from the Old Market & Pub Street. There are tuk-tuks waiting on the parking lot that can take you to a few places in the city, prices are negotiable.
The staff was very helpful and always full of good suggestions. They made our stay very enjoyable. Pool with bar and pool side food service was great. Breakfast was very good. I always love the fresh yogurt. You could eat inside or outside. Nice balcony on the pool side of the hotel. Easy access to Pub Street, local market and many good shops and restaurants by taking a Tuk Tuk outside your hotel. Quick stop store within walking distance with plenty of grocery items. I wish we could have stayed longer. So much to do and see in this area.
I stay in this hotel every year for some years now. The quality of the services, the luxury has not changed, its always perfect. The staff is extra kind and helpful, they always resolve all my group member's problems. The pool is extra big and great! Breakfast has a big selection of western and Asian food as well. It is in walking distance of the centre of Siem Reap. I highly recommend this hotel for individuals and groups also.
The hotel initially looks impressive and the staff friendly but have limited english. However our room was poor compared to other rooms our party had. The room was large enough but a bit grubby, with the light shades over the bed falling apart and felt dated. The bath room was also not great with a cracked sink, mouldy silicone around the bath and the light hanging out of the ceiling. If we had been staying for more than 2 nights I would definately requested a new room. The worse hotel we have stayed in on our tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. I will say that the food is very good
Nice room, big and clean. The bed was good too. The pool is very nice. The breakfast was OK. Large choice but not very tasty. Don't expect much entertainment. One bar was closed and the other one was empty. They offer pick up from the airport. I asked to have a transfer to the airport, instead of the pick up, and they agreed. The wifi is bad. In my room I could not use it at all. Do not tell me it's Cambodia... I have been to other hotels or restaurants where wifi was really good. The check out was weird and even a bit rude. The employee asked me if I took anything from the minibar. I said no. Then he told me that they needed to check that! I can fully understand that they need to check, but just do it and do not tell me. If you tell me that you need to check, it is rude. So he asked the maid to check. She must have been busy so we waited. At some point I told them that I was going to have lunch at the hotel anyway. I told him that he could come and see me if there was any problem with the minibar or the room. But no, they asked me again to wait! I did not get the complimentary fruit basket that was included in my booking. To conclude, it is a fine hotel, with a very nice pool. But do not expect luxury or 5 stars. I would say it's more a 4 stars.
The facility, and the service are top notch. No one can complain about the room size, the pool and patio and the front foyer; All are large and spacious. 5 star hotels are a tough category, because there is always a newer one being built. This one retains its character, but the room decor will likely need to be upgraded within the next few years. This also includes the wifi speed. My other concern is about the breakfast buffet. Although quite visually extensive, I had a hard time finding something I would call delicious. Overall, it provided many average options. I would nit hesitate to return, and anticipate some goid value deals in the near future, until they update.
The hotel is in need of updating and decorating very tired looking and not clean. Our bathroom was dirty. Hair in the bath plug, grim my looking bath, cracked sink, two grey bath towels with stains no hand towels. The room was very warm I took the duvet out of the cover to just used the cover the duvet was dirty with yellow stains!! Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Staff had very limited understanding of English and most were not helpful. It is not a hotel for westerners. Breakfast was fruit.......lovely but there were flies on the watermelon, advertised scrambled egg but not any idea of how to make it I ended up with an inedible omelette. Our plane was early evening but we were allow to e tend the room stay after 12. Don't stay here there are much nicer hotels in the area.
This is not a 5 star resort. The hotel only has one restaurant with few options and at much higher prices than the rest of the city. Breakfast does not offer good options for westerners. The service in the pool area is quite slow. We were entitled to late check out but was denied by the reception. The internet is very bad. The bar that had pool table and darts remained closed all the time.
