Very clean rooms, great breakfast and professional staff. Prices in restaurant are a bit higher, but that's generally for Romania. And the restaurant is again with great food and beautiful view over the whole city.
We stayed at this hotel on a 4-night New Year's package and enjoyed it very much. Everything was well organised, down to the smallest detail, and we have been very well taken care of at all times, from the very moment we stepped in until we said goodbye. The hotel has a modern feel, is very clean and well appointed, with comfortable rooms and most friendly and helpful staff. The top floor restaurant - 585 Fusion - is the heart and the top asset of the hotel, offering not just some nice dishes and wines, but also a great panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains, thanks to its high glass walls. The programme offered for the three days around the New Year was very nice and entertaining: an open-air barbecue with mulled wine and tuica in the amazing setting of the Astra Village Museum, a tropical-themed lavish dinner for the New Year's night, and a traditional Romanian evening on January 1st, brightened up by the spectacular dances of the legendary "Junii Sibiului" dance ensemble. The hotel is also just a short walk away from the historic city centre, which is another good reason to visit the city. We very much appreciated our stay overall, but above all, the extraordinary work and commitment of the restaurant team led by Mr. Dinescu, for whom nothing was too much to make their guests feel great. Many thanks and a Happy New Year to all!
I've stayed three nights at this hotel while attending a conference (held at the convention center of the same hotel). The rooms were really great, newly furnished and equipped with all the needed amenities. The staff from the hotel is helpful and polite. The buffet breakfast was really great, and I enjoyed there the best salads I've ever eat at a breakfast. Even if the location is not central (approximately a 10 minutes drive from the city centre) you can easily find taxis and ubers nearby at decent prices. Finally, despite I'm a quite exigent reviewer and I've travelled a lot in Romania, I can strongly affirm that this is one of the best hotels in Romania.
Manuel made me feel extremely welcome on arrival and started a great weekend. Bogdan at the restaurant was an awesome host for dinner and made some excellent ratings. Timea made great drinks and made for a relaxed evening. The room was standard and was as I expected it to be.
We had a room on the 5th Floor which had a nice view of Western Sibiu and the mountains in the distance. The room was OK but fittings were somewhat hit and miss - there was reference to room safes, but our room along with many others did not have one. This seemed to sum up the attitude of the hotel. Dinner, a fixed three course meal again, was forgettable, as was the service. Breakfast was OK, just, but charging about $4-5 for proper coffee was ridiculous. Check out was somewhat of a shambles because there were too many people for the number of staff.
We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and very clean with attentive staff in the breakfast area and reception. Though it is further than other hotels from town centre it is only a 10 min walk. Also we found some nice restaurants (Gardenia Sibiu) and pubs nearby.
I stayed one night at Golden Tulip Ana Tower Sibiu - only one of the two that were booked initially (I had a voucher from the travel agency, but this was useless...). Well, these days, overbooking becomes a way of life for many hotels in Romania, unfortunately. The reception called me a taxi, and I had to pay - and next day, I had to write another paper and to attach the receipt, in order to get my money back. Of course, the tip for the driver was not included - even if it wasn't my fault for their mistake. (During the same trip, I saw better days in Bucovina, where I simply received the number of the taxi driver and the hotel paid him directly - a more decent way to help the travellers, my oppinion). Room - large, clean, with a nice view. Bathroom - also clean. Hot water, shampoo, body lotion, shower gel. Breakfast - good enough and large selection.
The rooms are modern and if you can obtain a room on the floor between 9 and 11 it will be great. It is also close to city center but city is small anyhow. The food prepared as a buffet is horrible. The breakfast is also bad and I avoid to go there.
We were in room 108.. although it was over the front door of the hotel, we were able to have the side window open at night as there was virtually no outside noise! There was air con which was quiet and effective. The room was large and light, good comfortable beds, lovely quality duvets so we both slept very well. The kettle on the beverage tray didn't work and there were only 2 teabags.. fruit and one opened! and 4 sugars... no coffee or milk. There was quite a large mini bar in the fridge. Plenty of hanging and storage space, a safe, very nice dressing gowns, and nice towels in the bathroom. The water was always piping hot and the shower very good. Good connection for wifi and free. Breakfast in the very nice, wonderfully light dining room on the 11th floor was very good - good range of items, all fresh, plus fresh fruit... we didn't find find much of that in other hotels on our tour - so that was a bonus! Rolls, yoghuts, cooked items, cold cuts, pastries.... You get super views over the city from the dining room and the red sunrise one morning was a real bonus to watch! The hotel is a short easy walk into the old town. We enjoyed our short stay very much.
The hotel is situated a short walking distance from the old town. Our room is pleasant, bed and shower very good, breakfast has lots of selections and pleasant, friendly staff. We were surprised not having a safe in the room. We were also surprised to give laundry in the hotel and getting it back wet. Apparently they don't have dryers, but this is something that should have been indicated on the laundry list. Now I have all my stuff spread out in the room to dry.
