I am only giving it three stars because of location (excellent), cleanliness, and room size. Nothing else deserves a star. Overall, a below average stay made average only by its location. The building houses rooms as well as some businesses, which made it impossible to rest after 8 am due to noisy foot traffic (not heavy traffic, just noisy because of the wooden floors). We had a large suite with a king size bed. Decor was non-existent, with the pictures in the two picture frames no longer centered. The shower could be considered an instrument of torture due to sudden changes in temperature from hot to ice cold during the shower. Breakfast was included in our case, but it was mediocre at best, and the customer service... there was none. The lady, Emilia, asked for our room number and while we were having breakfast checked us out and called our name out loud in the tiny dining space to hand us the paid invoice. Uhhh, she already knew which of the 5 tables we were sitting at, so the violation of privacy was unnecessary. The salt and pepper must be expensive, as there was only one shaker set for the room; people just had to keep asking the next table over to pass them. The lady just took it off our table without asking if wee still needed it to pass it to somebody else who also needed it. The food selection was ok, but by far not the best we had during our two week trip. If you want a bed in the best location, as that's all you care about, this is not bad. But you can get the same for a fraction of the cost. One more note: booking was guaranteed, and we confirmed with them via email. Then, over a month ahead, they tried charging the credit card more than once, under a different name . We had it set with the bank to allow the specific hotels during a range of dates, so the charges were declined. We had to try to figure out who this company was trying to charge our card. They eventually confirmed it was them, and the response was "because we can". As a business person, which we are, just because you can doesn't mean you should. Just bad business practice, but to each his own.
Stayed a couple of nights here. It's a great location above Liars Bridge and on Piata Mica. When we arrived on the Saturday there was a lovely local market in the square. Location is perfect for exploring the city. There was no parking, so suggest finding somewhere to park before getting to the square where you have to pay. The street leading up to the square had plenty of free parking and only a short 5 minute walk. Check in was easy enough and very friendly. Our room was on the 2nd floor via an old wooden spiral staircase, no elevator from what I could see. The room was quite spacious and traditional with beautifully painted furniture and a view of the big church at the rear. It can be quite noisy of a night with the window open but it didn't effect our sleep too much. Breakfast was quite basic but adequate. A choice of eggs, toast, cereals, cheeses etc. We found a lovely bar on the other side of the piata - Nod. Served lovely cocktails. This is a great choice for Sibiu if you looking for some more traditional and quirky. We had a great stay
I stayed in this "hotel" (more a b&b, to be honest!) many times. Last time in April 2017. At the moment it opened was quite good comparing to what Sibiu had then to offer. Now, upgrades are long overdue. For instance, the window to my room could not be secured, as the bold had no dent to go into, Fixing? They put a pillow between the 2 sheets of window! Also, 5 minutes after checking in I was called from reception by Delia if I could pay the room then, not at the checkout, as her colleague will be busy next day with breakfast!! And the worst was the breakfast, with bad coffee, medicine- tasting orange juice and the cheese cut with an onion stinking knife!!!
We enjoyed our stay in the heart of the old town of Sibiu. Our apartment at Casa Luxembourg had a view of Liar's Bridge. It was very well equipped. I especially enjoyed the large bathroom with the soaker tub.
Hotel was in a historic and very central location right in the center of the old town. Our room was quite large with a kitchenette which is great for families. Everything was at our doorstep including the city's main attractions and restaurants.
This place in the old town, just outside the main square, with plenty of eating/drinking options nearby. The whole old town seems to be a paid parking area (2 lei/hr), so if you arrive by car as you approach you’ll have to pass through a boom gate and collect a bar coded ticket. You have 10 minutes to offload your stuff near the front of the hotel, then park your car outside the old town, 150m or so away. We left the car out the front for about 6 Euro overnight. If you do this, as you’re leaving scan the barcoded ticket in the nearby parking machine, pay the charge with local currency, then use the same bar code to exit the boom gate. Rooms are huge (like a 3 room apartment) and basic, but have all you need for a night. Bring only what you require as there’s no lift and our room was on the second floor up a curved staircase; not something you’d want to drag heavy luggage up. The interior is mainly timber, so you do sometimes here other guests moving about, but little external noise. Pleasant, helpful staff, but note that reception hours limited.
We chose this place because we wanted to be in the heart of the city, close to old town area. Initially we were afraid that it would be noisy because of the location, but it was not at all. We stayed for 2 nights here and we had lot of comfort and quiet time. Location is quite hip. Practically you are in the very heart of the old town with everything at reach (both touristic attractions, restaurants, clubs and shopping area. Our room was very spacious with lots of books and albums. It felt very homey. Loved this feeling. Breakfast is good, not very diversified, but it worked for our 2 nights stay.
Heads up to anyone driving, I am going to give some detailed parking info at the end. I stayed here for two nights. The check-in was smooth (after finding the place and parking!). Shown to my room on the second floor. Prompt to give recommendations for good restaurants. Room was a single room, but the bed was a double so I'm sure it is sold as a double as well. The room is a decent size, but I think it would be crowded for two people. The bed is pushed against one wall and there is only one chair. Bed was comfortable and pillows were too. Plug right next to the bed, but no bedside table so everything was on the floor. Radiator located right behind bed. I had it up to 5 (highest setting) and the room never felt overly warm. That may be problematic in colder winter months. There is a mini fridge with enough room for you to throw a drink or two in. Coffee and tea provided, but no black tea. TV was flat screen and had English channels. Bathroom was large size with a stand alone shower (no tub). Here is where things went a bit wrong: In the morning you have to let the water run for at least 5-7 minutes on the hottest setting in order to start getting warm water. It will get progressively hotter. However, the shower did not drain quick enough...so you'll have to shut it off a few times because it will start spilling over on to the floor. Not a really fun way to shower. I'm particular about showers, they need to be hot, have good pressure, and drain properly (it's gross standing in dirty water). Shampoo/body wash combo was provided with a dispenser in the shower. Check-out could be improved. At 8 AM there was a sign that said "be right back" with a number. I called it and she was in th restaurant. If I had not called (or didn't have a phone with me...many travelers don't) I could have been standing there for a while. Perhaps a sign with "come to restaurant" would be better. Wifi was good. I was able to Facetime without problems. Location was also great! Parking Info: OK, if you have your own car with you. The hotel is located off the small square. To get close to it with a vehicle you have to go past the barrier where you will collect a ticket. You have 10 minutes free in the square, otherwise you are paying 2 lei/hr. There is plenty of parking up there though. I'm cheap, so I found free parking the next day. Basically, any spot out the streets outside of the square are free. So if you don't go past the barrier, you have free parking. I was able to find something about 5 minutes away on the second day.
The hotel is located at Piata Mica, which many restaurants & cafes within a stone's throw away. Our room is big & spacious, albeit with twin beds instead of double bed. Nonetheless it gives a nice view of Evangelica Cathedral. Do note the receptionist operates only between 10am to 9pm. Call up & drop them an email if expected arrival is out side this timing.
We arrived at 1am and we went straight to our rooms. We were part of a group and we all had lovely quirky rooms. The only downside was there were no lifts so lots of steps! The next morning we went down for breakfast and although it was fairly basic the staff were really helpful and anxious to make sure we had all that we needed. For this reason I raised my rating to very good. otherwise i would have given it average.
