4/10 Poor

Portion of letter sent to owner…. Since he has not responded to us!
“Randy- after 30 hours of no power, water and a dangerously poor source of “heat”, we opted to take a chance on getting out of the driveway (which was treacherous BEFORE the rain and ice) and getting down the mountain to a warmer, safer place even though we paid to stay another night. We left the cabin in excellent shape considering the circumstances. Normally we would wash towels and run the dishwasher but we couldn’t because of no power. We had actually washed a load of towels and lost power before they could be dried so they are in the washing machine. I’m not one to slander people and will not start now and I will not post a negative review but if I might kindly make some suggestions as one who has stayed in several Vrbos …
First of all we have NEVER paid the price we paid for this one and and yet we have always gotten FAR more kind and thoughtful complimentary touches in less expensive units! While your cabin is nice and it was very clean, a few Complementary bottles of water would have been nice especially considering the poor condition of the water in the unit itself. The iron content was really bad. We could not drink, cook or make coffee with it. And We have never stayed in a rental that did not offer at least a few coffee or tea pods and/ or coffee pot filters. Also, we have never stayed in a rental that left one teeny tiny bar of soap as the only complimentary toiletry. The fireplace in the Bedroom I am certain was for ambience but FYI no heat ever came out of it prior to power failure. And then the only source of heat that you had in that unit when the power did go off was dangerously inadequate! We had to sit and stay on the hearth to get any warmth. Not to mention that there were not even any spare blankets … also a “first”!! There were no shovels or brooms to clear snow. We found a board and borrowed a broom from the unit next door To help clear the Driveway. In addition, We have always found Spare matches or lighter, Emergencey flashlights, board games and playing cards to be the norm but none in your unit.
We certainly appreciated the gas grill (but it has a broken handle and doesn’t heat well) and the water in the hot tub came in handy for flushing the toilet. We made the best of a difficult situation and we really are not spoiled or picky people. We work hard and appreciative! We kept thanking God for his blessings even as we were freezing and stranded….” And knowing our dire straights, owner never checked on us!
