The view from this cabin is spectacular! My husband and I, along with our 18 year old daughter and her friend, stayed 7 nights. The first drive up the mountain was a bit nerve-wracking, but after the second or third trip, it became much easier. The advice in the listing to not arrive after dark the first time is good advice-the road is twisty and a bit narrow and steep in places. After getting comfortable with it, the total drive from the bottom to the cabin takes around 7 minutes. There was enough parking at the cabin for our oversized F150, but I don’t think another vehicle would have fit. Two smaller vehicles might fit. My husband and I slept in the king bedroom downstairs, and it was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The girls stayed upstairs, and I’m assuming it was just as comfortable. The upper floor is spacious, and my husband had a lot of fun on the video game console, which had many games from our youth (Tecmobowl was his favorite!). The check-in process was very easy, and communication with the hosts was excellent. They were very responsive to messages. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes, pots and skillets. We made spaghetti one night, and I had to get creative with aluminum foil to make a pan for baking the garlic bread, so if you plan on baking anything you will need to bring your own pan. The cabin has everything else you need for cooking- spatulas and spoons, can opener, toaster, microwave, ice-cream scoop, coffee-maker, utensils. Eating out every meal gets pricey, so we were glad to have the option to cook for ourselves. There’s a Walmart, Kroger and Publix within a 30 minute drive. We could not find any restaurants that would deliver up the mountain, so come prepared. Dollywood is a short drive from the bottom of the mountain, and Gatlinburg is also only a short drive away. Our GPS kept trying to take us up a very steep narrow road (Timber-something) with loose gravel as a “short-cut” when leaving the cabin each day, but we ignored it and proceeded down the way we arrived, and it only added a few minutes to each of our trips. There is a baby gate at the top of the spiral staircase, but no lock on the door to the upper deck, so i would be uneasy leaving smaller children unattended upstairs. The hot tub was heavenly after a long day of walking. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
