I loved my stay - my only complaint was even though my room had a private bathroom, you had to go through the communal living room to get there, which was not convenient. The place is beautiful and the owner is great.

Wonderful Stay

While a little difficult to find, Xiwoo Hanok really gives an authentic feel to staying in Seoul. The 3 room Hanok had enough space for two people and while traditional, still had many comforts of home.

Traditional korean charm

Stayed for two nights and was very happy with the accomodation. Traditional guesthouse with all the charm that one would hope for. The rooms are small and you sleep on a futon which I was expecting and ws very happy with. On suite bathroom addition was nice and unexpected from a local guesthouse. Need to do some streatching before you go as neeling on cushions at the traditional table for breakfast can be a bit unconfortable for the non flexible like myself. The guesthouse is located near many major attractions and there are a lot of local food lanes offering some great variety, albeit a bit challenging as there are no translations or pictures.

Really nice in Korea

The guesthouse is close to everywhere. Taxi on the road and subway is 10min walking. Traditional market is on the way. The house itself is a amazing, very pretty and comfortable. The host is very friendly and lovely. She even prepared the charge convertor for people from other countries. Everything you need is in the room and the host will come to clean everyday. Cons: Some details of the room and the house are not that clean. but overall the cleaness is 8/10. the traditional house is bad of blocking voice. So if the other guest is nosey, you can hear it. Overall, I will come back for this.

The owner was extremely nice and helpful, the house was renovated for comfort as well as aesthetics. We would stay here again for our hanok experience! It's modified enough for people not used to hanok life but yet maintains the charm and beauty of hanok.

A great stay!

My stay was great! The host was out when we arrived but we had no problems locating the key and we had a fun time exploring the amazing property. Theresa's house is a traditional hanok set near one of the main palaces in Seoul and is so quaint and well-preserved. Despite it being a traditional hanok, there were modern conveniences and the bathroom was clean and very modern. A very pleasant stay indeed and thank you for the hospitality Theresa!

시우 한옥 게스트하우스 절대 가지마세요!!

가기전 대표님과 몇번 통화를 했는데 전화상 너무 쌀쌀맞은 느낌을 받았습니다. 또한 그쪽에서 필요한 사항이 있을때는 전화도 하고 답변도 신속했지만 제쪽에서 요구사항같은게 있어 전화하면 잘 받지도 않고 확인하고 전화준다고 한뒤 깜깜 무소식.. 도착해서 첫대면 후의 느낌도 전화느낌과 거의 같았습니다. 그런대로 숙소의 시설같은건 괜찮은 편이었는데 조식이 9시라고 시간엄수해 달라고 문자로 연락도 주었었는데(9시면 너무 늦은 아침) 시간이 되어 숙소 맞은편읜 까페로 식사를 하러 갔더니 문이 잠겨있어 붙여있는 번호로 전화를 했더니 이제 출근 중이라는말과 9시 30분에 오라는 말뿐... 13명 가족모두가 고픈배를 부여잡고 기다렸는데 9시 30분에 전화와서 10분더 걸릴거고 전화를 주겠다고 했는데 10분이 지나도 전화가 없어서 걸어봤더나 오라고 해서 갔습니다. 그런데 곤드래밥이라고 준건 다 식어서 덩어리져 있었고 기다란 접시에 공동으로 먹으라고 조금 올려져 있는 반찬은 차디찬 야채전 몇조각, 통조림에서 막 꺼낸 장조림, 시장에서 사온 오징어채 조금과 차디찬 장국이 전부. 너무 황당해서 한젓가락 먹어보고 13명중 11명이 그냥 숙소로 왔습니다. 하우스 주인에게 항의 전화 했더니 온갖 핑게와 확인후 전화 주겠다고 했는데 퇴실하고 몇번을 전화해도 전화를 안받았습니다. 오후 1시쯤 문자를 보내서 항의하고 식사를 못한사람 환불을 요구했더니 준비한사람 재료시 노력은 감안해 달라는 말을 하더군요 결국에는 수수료빼고 뭐 빼고 77,900원을 환불 받았습니다. 참고로 편의점 도시락보다 훨씬못한 조식이 인당 만원입니다. 아뭏든 끝에는 귀찮고, 자꾸 요구하니까 마지못해 '그래 미안해' 이런투의 문자하나가 끝이었습니다. 아침에 늦게왔어도 그시간에 압력솥에 했으면 충분한 시간이었고, 차라리 햇반이나, 슈펴에 늘려있는 포장된 국 사다가 전자레인지에 데워줬으면 훨씬 좋았을 것입니다 그러나 그 무엇보다도 주인의 태도가 너무너무 화가 났습니다. 하루 70만원이 넘는 숙박비가 너무 억울하고 아깝습니다. 만일 이글을 보시고도 가시는분은 조식은 절대 하지 마세요~~~ 그리고 주인의 쌀쌀맞은 태도나, 황당한 대응에 기분안나쁠 자신있으면 가시는게 좋을거 같습니다.

전반적으로 좋앗고 깨끗하고 만족스러웟다. 침구는 세탁한 티가 낫습니다. 하지만 거실로 통하는 문이랑 창문의 블라인드에 틈새가 잇어 안이 들여다보일수 잇어 신경이쓰엿습니다.

불쾌했어요..

한옥 특유의 느낌을 살려서 만든 집은 나름의 독특한 경험을 하게 해줬어요. 하지만 환기가 안되어 냄새가 심하고, 화장실을 가려면 바깥으로 나와야해서 불편했어요. 이건 한옥의 분위기를 살리기 위한 것으로 참을 수 있었어요. 하지만 주인 태도에 문제가 있어요. 외국인한테는 뭔가 안내를 좀 해주는 것같은데 오히려 한국인은 무시하네요. 와이파이, 시설 사용, 조식 등 안내가 전혀 없었어요. 열쇠만 주고 알아서 하라는... 무엇보다 가격이 문제네요. 호텔스닷컴에서 168,000원에 16,000원 세금도 별도로 내고 예약을 했어요. 갔더니 '안방'을 주더군요. 하지만 실제 안방의 가격은 14만원이에요. 완전 바가지쓴 기분이네요. 제일 좋은 방인 '마루방'도 16만원이니 적어도 마루방은 주었어야 했어요..

Nice Korean guest house!
