The location of this hotel is exceptional and is what really sells this hotel. Short walk from metro and right by alleys bustling with restaurants, bars and shops. Also a convenience store and Cafe 1993 (great coffee and beer) opposite. Hotel staff very helpful and spoke good English, giving us advice on best way to get to airport when we left. Room was comfortable and a decent size but a little dated and bathroom was very small but everything worked fine, though the aircon didn’t seem to have any real impact so kept the window open at night. Everywhere else we stayed during our trip provided separate shampoo, conditioner and shower gel but here we got just one bottle attached to the wall which I assumed was hair/shower gel but we used our own so I didn’t check. Was also only one big towel, one small towel and a floor mat provided. Admittedly I assume if I’d asked for more they would have been happy to provide them. Given the cost of the hotel and it’s amazing location it’s great value, though we opted for room only as breakfast was quite expensive.
The staff was fantastic, so helpful during my first trip to Seoul. The location was great, close to three different subway lines and walking distance to four castles, loads of shopping and restaurants and Cheonggyechon. The earlier reviewer's suggestion to ask for a room away from the elevator is a great one. Another suggestion is to ask for a corner room, preferably on an upper floor.
Stayed here one night in a stopover in Seoul. Great location with free shuttle bus around the city. We had the best night’s sleep in a very comfy bed. Enjoyed dinner across the road at Yankees burgers. Breakfast was ok.
We stayed 3 nights at this Ibis and were very pleased with our choice because of the location, close to 2 main subway stations. The Jongno 3-ga station is on the same line of Gimpo airport so no need to transfer! Our room was typically the Ibis style: basic but comfortable and clean. We were on the 10th floor and we got 3 good nights of sleep because it was really quiet. The only minor issue that we had is that housekeeping kept on giving us only 1 set of towels even if we were 2 adults in the room so we had to go to the reception desk every night to get another set :) The hotel is very close to Insadong and Bukchon, two tourist spots that you should visit while in Seoul. There are a lot of local Korean restaurants in that area so it should be easy to get your fix of bibimbap and bbq at a fair price, even after 9pm! After touring all day, we mainly stay in this area for dinner and enjoyed our meals. Our breakfast was not included so we only took it once at the hotel. We felt that it was not worth the price as there weren't many Western options. But again it is often the case in Asia... There is a Starbucks on Insadong-gil street or even better have a cruffin at the very trendy Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in Garosu-gil!
Very nice hotel! Simple, modern and clean. Location is perfect, lots of sightseeing to do nearby. Asked for a room furthest away from the elevator (as I wake up easily from the tiniest noise) and that was not a problem. Hour too early to check-in, however we only had to wait 10 minutes.
When we arrived, we were pleasantly suprised that our room was bigger than the Ibis we stayed in Malaysia. We stayed a total of 6 nights here and went on to do laundry at the coin laundry provided in the basement (cost 4000won for wash+dry). We were very happy as it is quiet at night so we had quality sleep. On our last night though, we noticed that the housekeeping staffs mistakenly threw a plastic bag with my mom's BRAND NEW sneakers inside. As there were 2boxes in the plastic bag, one was actually filled. We were actually quite unhappy that they threw things that are not in the rubbish bins. I mean, you could have check first before throwing right? We complained and got my mother's shoes on the day of the check out but without the boxes and receipt so i cant do a tax refund at the airport anymore. We were still relief though that they found the shoes none the less. Aside from that, I would still consider this hotel for its location next time.
It was my third stay in IBIS Insadong. I booked this hotel again because of the good location in the city and the very good experiences of the past two years. However, this time I got nervous because of the unpleasant experience at the breakfast after my first night (a Saturday morning). That day, there were a huge number of bus tourists present in the hotel and the breakfast area was turned into a canteen with long tables to increase the capacity. Also, the buffet was looted. Staff was very helpful though and did their best but the hotel should either accept less bus tourists (nothing against those people as such, but they all come for breakfast at the same time - if you plan to have breakfast at the same moment as single traveler you're simply/literally squeezed away) or should increase the capacity of the breakfast buffet AND PLEASE reserve an area in the restaurant for guests that do NOT belong to those bus groups. Also, it is a pity that this hotel does not give a price reduction for LeClub Accor members, although they advertise the program.
Great location, friendly staff, great value. The room was comfortable and clean. Front desk very friendly and helpful with directions advice. Great choices of restaurants within walking distance and close to the subway/bus system.
This is the second time I've stayed in this hotel. I've lowered my expectation before I arrived as the first time when I stayed in this hotel was about 4 years ago and it was still very new. The staff attentiveness, great service and responsiveness is something that have not changed and always makes me feel valued. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed with was the free automatic massage chairs (which has been reduced to just one and it's not at it's best condition) in the laundry room where I used to spend relaxing 45 minutes to an hour while waiting for my laundry to be done. Finally and most importantly, I would like to highlight a very pleasant experience which is worth sharing. I checked out of the room on the morning of 14 Mar 2018 and left Seoul for HK where I reside. At about 1am HK time, I realized that I have absentmindedly left an envelope of Korean cash worth about USD 650 in the hotel safe which was left unlocked when I checked out. I then quickly called the Front Desk of the hotel and the staff - Minjung told me that the room that I have checked out has been occupied by another hotel guest and there was no report of my money been found by the housekeeper when I checked out. He however, assured that he will check again the following day to confirm it. I was disappointed upon hearing that and also convinced myself that the money was gone. The following afternoon, I received a pleasant surprise from the same staff - Minjung that they have found the envelope of money left untouched in the safe and will arrange to hand the money back to me. Thank you so much for this great surprise and also for all the beautiful memories that you have given me during my stay in Seoul!
Nice clean affordable hotel close to Insadong Main Street, the Palace and Jongno 3 Sam ga and Anguk stations, decent size rooms and good wifi. They also provide free shuttle to airport bus stop and shopping market areas at set times. There is also a self serve laundromat in the basement. The only negative is the price of items in their cafe, the equivalent of AUD $9.00 for a cafe latte is ridiculous.
