Old & dusty furniture with broken chair, no bidet in the bathroom, dusty floor, small room, no ironing service provided or even a single iron in the hotel. Only old kettle provided without teabag or sugar. No closet to keep your clothes, only few hangers with coat stand. Only one small bar soap provided.
Affordable place. Accessible to every mode of transportation. Very accommodating hotel staff. What I also like is the clean rooms. Has a free Wi-Fi too. What I dislike is that it has no smoking area. My sister and I were non smoker so it's difficult for us to sleep beside a room full of smokers. We can smell the cigarette on the other room. We have no option but opened our window to prevent from suffocating. I will only rate this average.
Stayed here for a week with a couple of friends while training in the area. It's pretty basic but the room was clean (a bit worn in places) the bed was comfortable and the front desk staff were helpful. Room decorations are a bit random. No hanging space in the room, other than a couple of coat hooks. Bathroom does feature a Jacuzzi - although bath itself is a bit small. There is a laundry service available if you ask at the front desk. Suggest you take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the area, even a pizza hut (although I never went to it).
This is a real clean bed only. There is no real Internet (WIFI) in your room. Internet dedicated to support lobby. I can not remember any thing about breakfast. Staff : friendly and spoke english. Hotel location not too bad.
Staff: Friendly and some spoke English & Chinese so it helped alot. Rooms: We got a themed room, I personally didn't like it because the room was painted dark red and made it feel cramped and depressing. Also there was a computer in the room but no internet or wifi. Location: Not too bad for the purpose of our trip, short walking distance to Gangbyeon station. Though next time we will be staying at a hotel closee to the shopping districts, Dongdaemun and Myeongdong. Summary: All in all, a pleasant stay, friendly staff, not bad price. Pretty much all you can ask for.
Really nothing special. CONS: No wi-fi in the room, only internet via cable. There was a pc in the room but the monitor didn't work. It's not possible to add the breakfast because it is separate from the Hotel. The last day two small black worms came out from under the bed. Staff speak a very basic english and it's not possible to ask them more than basic things. This area of Seoul doesn't offer any attraction. PROS: staff is kind and really available. Line 2 Metro is very close (but long trip to reach the city center), as Dong Seoul Bus Terminal.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever visit. The staff was extremely nice and accommodated us with most of our touristy needs. The rooms are spacious and really clean. The thing we found really intriguing was that they used homemade sewn linens-really comfortable! I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an affordable stay in one of the most vibrant parts of the city.
Stayed there for 4 nights because it was close to Olympic Park. Hotel was very average, small and pretty clean. Had to go to lobby to get wifi. All staffs knew english very little so it was hard to communicate :( Good thing was surrounded by restos and convenience stores, 5 min to Seoul Metro.
Was at Dong Seoul hotel from 30 June to 8 July 2012. Pros: + clean + strong working air-conditioning that is in-room controlled (do note to turn off air-con when you go out) + good water pressure in shower. Although one has to stand in the bathtub to shower, it’s not a problem as the bathtub is of a non-slip material. + 3 mins walk to Gangbyeon subway station + 7-Eleven, G25 across the road and a 24-hr eating place which I didn’t try + 24 hour PC café nearby (though people do smoke in the café) + Check-in and check-out was less than 5 minutes. (nothing in the mini-bar anyway except for the mineral water which I think is free) + KAL limousine airport bus drops you off near Gangbyeon station (on the side of Technomart, I think) and picks you up on the other side of the subway station, the side where you can find 24-hr Tom & Tom’s coffee house and a long stretch of bus stops. KAL airport bus pick-up point is somewhere in the middle of the inner bus lane (next to KAL signboard), and bus ticket purchase booth is near the bus-stop. Cons: - Inconsistency in cleaning standard. On some days, the cleaning of the room wasn’t done as thoroughly, maybe because of different housekeeping staff? But generally still ok - Information on Hotels.com is misleading. In my booking, it says the twin room has wireless and wired internet (with computer), but that is not true. Free wifi is only available on the ground floor. The Double rooms on levels 2 and 3 have computer and internet (but with open bathroom concept), but ALL twin rooms do NOT have computer. There is a cable, though, so if you have a laptop, should be able to connect to internet. BUT the information on Hotels.com booking is not clear about this, so I booked with the expectation of having a computer but there is none. - Please note (in case you’re concerned about privacy) there is a 1 to 2 cm gap all round the bathroom door, there is no lock on the bathroom door, so it’s like a swinging door on its hinges. - There is only one door access card even for 2 people in twin room, though you can borrow the room’s Master card from Reception if your room-mate is out with the access card. Neutral point: * Reception can speak basic English but can’t understand requests that are too complicated. Good enough for me but my friend finds that the Reception is not as helpful as those in other hotels/guesthouses. I requested for an ironing board but the guy at Reception forgot, so I requested again on 2nd day and they remembered to do it by my deadline which was end of the day. Reception will try to help if they understand and can help, but not overly enthusiastic. * Hard bed and thin pillow, but not an issue for me Good if you don’t mind taking subway for 20 to 30 mins to get to town and major shopping areas. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I cannot find a clean and reasonably priced hotel nearer town.
Hello, We had to come to Seoul as my 15-year-old sister needed treatment from a doctor in Seoul for the cancer she was dealing with. Unfortunately my sister didn't make it; but through this experience I'd like to share my rating of the Dong Seoul Hotel. We spent hours, days and weeks trying to find accomodation in Seoul during October 2011 but were unsuccesful every time; all we could find was this Hotel - which happened to be in the exact same building as the Clinic my sister was to be treated in. We had no idea what the area was, or where in Seoul it would be. We literally went in blind. In the end, a fantastic experience. The staff helped out as much as they could understand (very little English) and the meals at the restaurant downstairs (well, the Beer Chicken) was great. There's many restaurants near by (if you can speak Korean) and there's a massive 12-storey shopping centre [Technomart] - in there is a Turkish man selling Shwarma/Kebab who speaks English and will help you with pretty much anything. If you want, tell him the guy with the sister who died of cancer in October sent you - maybe I'll get a free Kebab if I go back again. As for the Dong Seoul Hotel; it's splendid. A very clean room; gets cleaned daily. Airconditioning. And it's situated right ontop of the train and bus stations - yet from the seventh floor you can't hear a thing! One last tip here: bring your own cushions because their ones are impossible to sleep on! Ok, ok, one last tip! If you can afford it, ask for a "suite" as the normal rooms are VERY small and the suite at least has a lounge area before the bedrooms yet are still priced quite well. Enjoy.
