We had booked to stay at the petit hotel rural for 4nights at the start of our holiday. And from the first night we were deeply disappointed, the air conditioning unit in our room didn't work so we spent our first night very hot and not didn't really sleep. After waking not so refreshed, we reported our concern to the lady on reception who informed us that due to it being Sunday they would not be able to get any one out till Monday. So we had another very hot night. Then with the hope they had called the person to fix the unit my partner was taken into our room and told by the management that there was nothing wrong with it and it didn't need fixing. Despite the management saying it did not need fixing an engineer had to come and miraculously it was ice cold on the 4th night. We would have preferred honesty that it was broken and a genuine apology!! I feel very let down with the whole place, it was dreadfully understaffed, and the whole place looked like it could do with some tlc and a good clean. I feel for what we paid it was over priced for what we received. Would not recommend it.
Before I start this review the women who work here that wear black are excellent and friendly but are overworked and need more help. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and were very disappointed with every aspect of our stay. As other reviews state it has the potential to be amazing but is the complete opposite. The hotel is under the final flight path for Palma airport and is very noisy with planes passing every few minutes (see pictures taken in space of ten minutes). The room comprised two small child size single beds with hard tired mattresses, dirty wardrobe and dirty bathroom with a tiny shower and yellow stained toilet seat. The shower was so small I could not wash inside. I am only 166cm tall and men's size medium but did not fit. The hot water was intermittent. The rest of the shower was yellowed plastics and black mould (see pictures). The toilet seat was stained yellow with ? The top of the mirror in the bathroom and cupboard were dirty and dusty and had not been cleaned for a long time (see movie clip). The wardrobe inside the room had not been cleaned and when I placed my clothes in the draw they were marked. When I wiped them out with a damp towel it was brown with amount of sand, dirt and dust (see picture). The air conditioning in our room did not work and when we complained nothing happened and we were told it is normal in hot weather that they are overworked. We were given a fan which when we plugged it in fused the electrics in the room. As a last resort we called hotel . com to request refund or cancellation but due to lack of staff no one answered. On our last day they finally had an air conditioning engineer fix the problem. No admittance of the fault was offered or apology but were given a free evening meal (see later in review). The grounds were dirty with cigarette ends that were not picked up for the duration of our stay. Dead leaves and rubbish was not swept up. Only two of the four exterior lights worked. The tennis courts were a mess with lowered net and peeling paint on the walls. Rubbish was overflowing from trash cans outside the gate in the car park (see photo) with rotting food and flies. There was also pigeon dropping everywhere and this was not cleaned up. The pigeon also regularly defecated in the pool and washed in it. The pool was filtered or cleaned. There were heavy black water mark stains around the edges and the tiles were back at the edges. We tried not to go in unless to cool off very quickly and we would not want children playing in it all day. The sun loungers were also dirty and needed a wipe with a cloth. Food and drinks were not cleared away from tables around the pool and left all day in the sun attracting stray cats and more pigeons. The stray cats that were around at meals were severely neglected and had cuts (see pictures). Breakfast was average with cheap orange juice, cheap cheese, cheap ham and chorizo and machine coffee. The evening meal we had was awful and thankfully it was free as part of the offer to compensate for lack of air conditioning in 34+deg C heat. We had potato soup, a piece of badly cooked rubbery white fish with wet spinach and frozen roulade desert. If we had had to pay they wanted to 57 euros for this. We had far superior excellent fresh food in Sineu for 40euros. There were no free bikes as advertised and all we could find were old wheels in the gardens. The wifi is very low quality and only works immediately outside reception and pool area but drops in and out. Getting a drink from the bar is nearly impossible due to lack of staff which is a necessity as there are no fridges or mini bar facilities in the room to get bottle water or keep your own from the supermarket. This is by far our worst stay in a long time. Our next night stay was at an amazing converted convent for only 40 euro a night compared with over a 100 euro a night charged by petit hotel son jorda. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.
Very quiet location about 5 km from Sineu, and 20 minute drive from Palma Airport, had a lovely area at the front of the hotel with seating where you could have breakfast and evening dinner. The pool was not very big but perfect for cooling off and big enough to have a swim, and great for just lying reading a book in the shade next to the pool. The staff were fantastic very friendly and helpful. Just the place to get away from it. If you want to go anywhere you really need a car or bike as there is nothing local to this hotel everything is at least 5 KM away. Lovely towns nearby and plenty of markets going on during the week and the coast is easily accessible with a car. Not a great place to take the kids as it does not have masses to do, it has a tennis court and a TV in the main area but I never saw it on - bliss for me! It has free WIFI but this is not accessible everywhere, by the pool and in the main lounge area, but again this was a good thing in my opinion! Very well looked after hotel with lovely garden and courtyard areas.
We really enjoyed being in a central rural location, especially as we were on bikes and there are so many routes you can do from there. You must have transport of some kind...as there is nothing to do other than relax. You also need it for meals in the evening. We did try the dinner one night...it was Basic, but good...a little overpriced...so other nights got on our bikes (Sencelles or the swimming pool at Lloret (recommend). Lack of staff mean getting even a drink is hard and they have ridiculous notices about only consuming and using the in-room fridge! for hotel bought supplies. Here's a suggestion. How about an honesty bar? It works in other places. I have some moans, but don't let that put you off. It is a nice place to stay. And the staff are lovely. Biggest gripe - breakfast starts at 8:30am. Too late if you are doing a cycling tour in the summer...and must also be if you have young kids. Andreas did offer to start at 8:00 for us, but unfortunately this did not materialise. We only ate breakfast there once in 4 days - it's OK. Next gripe is the uncomfortable cheap mattresses. But that might just have been our room. The rooms themselves are fine...nothing special, a bit outdated. Hotel could do with fixing the shower head to the wall with the second screw that the fitting allows for, then you won't have water spraying all over the place.
We really enjoyed a very peaceful break at the Son Jorda. The staff were lovely, the pool area was spacious with beds both in and out of the sun.and the bike hire was included. However, you got the impression that there was room for it to be an excellent hotel. The staff were very helpful...but few in number and difficult to locate. There was little information about the local amenities - something that was very important given that there is nothing else in the village and (if you don't eat at the hotel) you must go and find somewhere to eat elsewhere. Dinner at the hotel was lovely but you had to ask for it at breakfast and we weren't told what was on the menu (it is a set menu) and what time it was served. In short, it was all there but you had to ask for it. Use of a car or bike is essential to stay at this hotel. The hotel is well located for biking and there are plenty of cycle paths and quiet roads in the area. The bikes that are available at the hotel are basic city bikes but they were not well maintained when we stayed. Away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside towns this is a quiet and peaceful destination but still within an hour of all the coasts.
Lovely intimate hotel in the sticks hence the 'Rural' Son Jorda. Perfect for us as it was quiet but a central location in Mallorca to travel to all compass points. Under the flight path to Palma airport but that was not an issue for us. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is not really geared up for evening dinners, although you can eat there. The town of Sineu is just down the road with a nice offer of restaurants. Good value for money and we would definitely go back there.
Unfortunately I can't review this hotel as although we booked and got a Confirmation, when we got there they didn't have our details and were full. We were supposed to stay there with friends who arrived the day earlier, using the same booking system. Although they were very apologetic and the owner/manager got us somewhere else to stay it did spoil our holiday. These things happen and according to the manager had only happened twice in 15 years and they did their best to rectify it as much as possible.
Stayed here for 4 nights as part of our cycling holiday. It is very rural and without a car or bikes then it may feel isolated. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere though after a day's cycling. The pool is lovely and the staff were on hand to serve drinks. We ate at the hotel every night. The setting was nice on the terrace outside the hotel. The food was traditional and a set menu which we enjoyed. There was a buffet breakfast with a great selection of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal bread and pastries. The room was spacious, basic but clean and tidy. The bed could have been more comfortable but overall more than adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful. The setting and the building itself is traditional and very beautiful. Overall a nice place to relax in rural Mallorca.
Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of June with a friend. Booked very last minute and wasn't sure what to expect. Needless to say our stay really surpassed all our expectations. Rooms are basic but have everything that you need and great air con. The poolside is BEAUTIFUL and we had it pretty much to ourselves whilst staying there. The team that run the hotel are great - really really friendly and can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. We were half board and we thought the food was great. So lovely to be able to sit outside and eat breakfast and dinner!! We didn't have a car (which was fine for a short stay) but Ruberts is quite remote so would recommend getting one. Definitely a winner!
Faulty towers? The photos on the website have a been fantastically amended e.g pool a lot smaller etc!. The reality slightly different. The building are beautiful and historic lending themselves to a fantastic setting however the rooms themselves are dated but if you are content with somewhere to lay down your head its adequate. If you don't like wildlife this is not the place for you ants and pigeons seemed to be very much part of our stay. Pidgeons nosesily lived outside the bathroom window which was fine but you did need to rinse away the army of ants before getting in the bath. The place is peaceful bar the aeroplanes overhead as its directly over a flight path. Service during the day is non existent so you need to buy for own drinks at the shop, dinner is a set menu only (no sign of a vegetarian option) that you have to book at breakfast the morning before contrary to what we where told at check in! I suggest checking out some of the amazing culinary delights other parts if the island offer. if you want something in the middle of nowhere and is rough and ready this is the place for you. Would suit older couples or young family looking for a non tourist trap. The hotel has such a fantastic setting excluding the planes it's such a shame more is not done with it to improve it just a fraction without upsetting its rural ambience
