We spent one night on a stopover with a coach trip and I wasn`t impressed when we arrived. However we were pleasantly surprised overall. Our rooms were compact but very clean with tea/coffee making facilities, comfy beds and en suite. Plenty of towels and even toiletries and very hot water for a bath or shower. Rapid check in for a big group. Situated alongside the river Seine and the busy road it was somewhat noisy, but that is the price you pay for a budget hotel so close to the centre. A short walk through cobbled streets lined with glorious old buildings took us to a busy market square with lots of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was rather a scramble as it was so busy, but there was plenty of choice in the continental menu and trays were replenished quickly. Rouen has a fantastic history and being a short stroll away from our hotel allowed us to see the major attractions before having to move on to our next stop. The lift is small and slow. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they even loaned me an adapter for my styler!
A group of us were on a battlefield tour of France and Belgium and were booked into the Kyraid Hotel .for 2 nights ,The room was tiny and we were had to squeeze ourselves between bed and desk . There was supposed to be a kettle in the room which was missing and no pillows .We had to ask 3 times for this to be supplied and got them on the second day .The receptionist was rude and dismissive when we asked for some milk which she declined to supply . The dinner was dreadful on both nights with chips each time ,If you wanted tea or coffee that was extra cost .The only good points i found were the 3 young men serving in the bar and serving food ,Willing to help and serve with a smile and a laugh .. If you like good food ,and a nice room ,avoid this hotel .
One night stopover. Room was small and basic but clean. Good location and a choice of outdoor or undercover parking which was good for us as we were traveling by motorbike. Tip: Take the stairs if you're not a fan of lifts as theirs is a little clunky!
I reviewed this hotel back in 2013. Unfortunately little has changed. Looking back I commenced the review with ' close to the Seine but no scenic idyll.' Alongside very noisy multi lane roadways. One small lift or stairs to all floors. The Hotel has the merit of being a 10 minute walk to the city center. Much of this walk takes you through fairly grim looking streets until the center square has been reached. Our double room (3rd floor) was, as before, compact but clean however one of the wall lights was hanging over at a severe angle and loose to the wall. The bathroom was small and clean. Oddly the hot tap adjusting handle was partially covered by a shelf making access to it awkward. The corridor smelt of smoke at times, indeed friends found their (non smoking) room smelling strongly of smoke and were moved. This experience is disagreeable and unacceptable. The most disappointing aspect of the stay were the meals. On coach tours we do not expect fine dining, far from it. Compared to similar rated hotels I have experienced the menus were basic and bland. It was noted that many plates returned to the kitchen partially laden with uneaten food. The repetition of ham in some form or another was noted by all and mealtimes comprehended with apprehension. The staff were smart and friendly however at times the receptionist had to double as a bar steward moving from one location to another, perhaps a shortage of staff ?. Note: Walking back to the hotel after dark revealed that 'ladies of the night' frequent the area including a location close to the hotel. They do not pose a problem to passers by.
Have stayed in Kyriad hotels before and was disappointed with this one. Parking very basic, trip hazards. One room smelt of tobacco smoke. The beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked, but few instructions.
Hotel was basic and cheap (paid £39 per room for one night). It is about a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and restaurants. Hotel is located on a main road however the rooms were well soundproofed so we did not here any traffic. Free wifi worked well. For the price I think this was good value for money: free car parking at the rear of the hotel, hotel is in the city centre so a car is not needed, tea and coffee in the room, hairdryer etc. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as this seemed expensive at €9 each so walked to a nearby bakery instead.
Don't expect anything fancy. It's a hot room with a bed, and an underpowered shower. Lots of road noise. Loud intermittent vibration, presumably from water pipes. Ideal as a brief one night stopover where you just want somewhere to sleep and spend as little time as possible. On the plus side, staff seemed pleasant and friendly.
On a positive this hotel is in a good location for the old town and quay.My room was quiet and clean, although small and the staff were pleasant. The food in the restaurant was ok but go into the old town as there are loads of lovely restaurants and cafes for breakfast as the breakfast at the hotel has a poor selection. Rouen is beautiful and as a base the hotel is fine but basic.
Stayed in this hotel for 1 night. Very plain and simple, a place just to sleep over. Far from the train station, to which trains from Paris arrive. Walking distance to the city center. For internet connection they give these small pieces of paper with passwords which sometimes were not working. On the floor where we stayed there were painting works. Reception is friendly, when we need a taxi, the reception lady organized it in 5 minutes. But I would rather pay slightly more and stay in a more pleasant environment.
Travelling to Paris, made a pitstop in this hotel. For this price, the quality is very high. Good beds and luxurious bathroom. Lots of coffee in room. Only downside: towels smell terribly acidic. But for this price you can't complain.
