There was a walk-in customer in front of us that was told, "We have 2 non smoking rooms available. Hurry up because they are going fast." The customer left. We were next in line. I explained we had requested non-smoking rooms through [...]. "Well, we don't have any non-smoking rooms." UMMMMM.....you just told the guy in front of me you had 2 non smoking rooms. Ok so now I am perplexed. We didn't challenge the manager and tried the smoking rooms. Couldn't breathe--felt like being suffocated. There was a chair that looked like someone had left it on the street for garbage pick up. The chair looked like the upholstery had been secured by a drywall screw gun...and the screw was sticking out of the chair. The linen had burn holes. Everything had a yellow discoloration. The towel rack in the bathroom had been bent. The towels and washcloths looked like they had someone else's makeup on them (all 3 nights). However, after the first night we asked for a non smoking room. That request was granted. These non smoking rooms were better. Every time we ran into the manager or staff, they were always asking if everything was alright. Our flight was screwed up (that's another story) and that cut one day off our hotel stay so the manager tried to help adjust our reservation. Also we were not far at all from the airport. The manager suggested the next time to call the hotel directly to request your preferences. The hotel is an older hotel. It may need to be updated. Right next to this hotel is a Holiday Inn Express. It looks newer (evidenced by front, sliding-automatic doors). Might be worth the investigation.
Very nice overall. Clean and comfortable. Easy to find, right off of Rt. 95. Refrigerator in room, but no microwave. Not much nearby -- limited resturants. Sparce complementry breakfast. Would recommend to friends, and would stay again.
We arrived at 11:30 pm after arriving from our flight. The hotel was located right off Rt. 95 and only took us 15 minutes to reach it. The clerk was very accomodating and had everything ready for us. The breakfast buffet the next morning was more than enough for the families that stayed there - and we were quite satisfied with what the hotel offered. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is flying into the Savannah airport on their way to South Carolina.
The room cost me probably $25 more than I expected for the area and about $17 more than their average price. I had to catch a plane from Savannah early in the morning and did not have much time to search for a room. I checked in late, slept about 6 hours and checked out, so I can't say much about the hotel amenities except that the pool area is under construction. The front desk clerk was extremely courteous.
