We are doing 7 cities in 7 lights and this is the cutest, friendliest place yet. We stayed in Hedwig’s Perch. My daughter liked the room so much she is plotting how to redo her bedroom just like it! Thank you for such a memorable and restful stay!!

Location was decent but some distance away from the riverfront dining and shopping. I had to make two calls to staff because the room was stifling when we got there. Opened window after AC was turned on.

We were greeted by staff when arrived and necer saw anyone again the lobby and room were very attractive. We were not sure how the bathroom worked it was the next door over and i did hear it used by others but never noticed anyone around when i was in there. No one else showered in the bathroom next to the savannah room.

The property is overall clean and there is great attention to detail in decorating. They have prepared a very good guide book. The poor ratings are due to the following: 1. There was a strong commercial bug spray odor in the room. There is a kitchen on the other side of the bedroom and bathroom wall. 2. The loud noise level from the street cars prevented us from sleeping, the train goes by in the morning. They provided ear plugs conveniently in the room but that did not help. 3. The temperature is adjusted by the owner. 4. The mattress was extremely soft and bad on my back. 5. The walls are thin, we could hear every move by guests staying above our room. 6. Smoking is allowed on the premises, but this is a designated outside area. 7. They do not offer a breakfast but have a shared kitchen arrangement with other guests. This property appears more like a hostel not a B&B and due to communal areas, not like an ABNB. We reserved for two nights and left after one night due to not being able to sleep due to traffic noise through the night. We sent an email to the owners before 11 am and explained why we had left and would not be back. We paid over $300.00 a night. We were not reimbursed for the second night.

We stayed in the star tower room. It was a cute small room. It was on the side closets to the street so the road noise was pretty bad but they provided us with ear plugs. The bed was a swing bed hanging from the roof which was pretty cool but if your sensitive to movement maybe try a different room. Overall it was a nice stay and theres a lot of walkable restaurants near by.

However very confusing check -in as directions as to which door(s) to use were not well explained- it was raining heavily when we arrived and we were soaked by the time we figured out how to get to the right door -parking is a mess as the street behind the inn where we were instructed to park is under construction- called # and woman seemed unsure of answers-

Genuine Victorian throwback

When growing up, my family used to summer at the Crestmont in an Eagles Mayor PA. It was a turn-of-the-century haven for Philadelphia. This place had exactly the same feel; the same windows; beds; doors, etc. The foyer had an eclectic feel: there was a BMW chassis at the check-in. It didn't take away from the place but I don't think it added to it either. We got one of the larger rooms with the sitting room and it was wonderful. All modern conveniences worked well. The old pushbutton on/off switches is worked well too. Parking is easy; it is circuitous from one end of the property to the other. Once established, it wasn't an issue. Arrangements were simple and the renter was responsive. Although we had no in person contact with him, we also have no reason to do so. There are outdoor living areas which are nice. There are common areas where various guests could gather if they liked to do so. Some may be put off by the older beds: they sagged a bit, but I think that was in keeping with the place. It didn't trouble me. I would like to see some of the outdoor trim repainted. If the current owner has just moved into the place and needs to create revenue in order to make these improvements, I understand. I would not like to come back in five years and find out that some of the trim is peeling. I don't get that sense however. What has been done, has been done with care. I think the touchup for the trim will come when time permits. The price is right; great departure from the norm.

Great stay, place was very clean. There are several great restaurants in walking distance. The house is a bit noisy but ear plugs were provided. Another guest took our ice packs in the freezer which was a bummer. We couldn’t find the markers to place our name on our belongings in the refrigerator.
