This hotel is ideally located right off of the walking path. Easy access to buses and Fira. The front desk staff was kind and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was great. They have a special Greek breakfast item that they bring to your table each morning, which I thought was super cute. Only negative was that the chairs at the pool were not comfortable for lounging.
Just a perfect location and you can't ask for a better view here in Santorini! The best part are the friendly folks at the reception - George and his wife. The food was just ultimate and even the options they provide you with for excursions, activities and transfers are highly impressive. We stayed at the Monodikos Villa and it's a dream - I would highly recommend this to the couples going to Santorini. I still remember the ones we took the Villa from on our first day - they never wanted to leave and same was the case with us! Highly recommend this for the view, quality of food and the people who receive and serve you!
We had a great experience at this place. Great location, close to markets and restaurants, wonderful view of the caldera, comfortable rooms, varied breakfast, and great professional staff. Only caveat, it was for our last night's stay, that unfortunately the shower water did not heat up. Would return without question!
We stayed at Villa Illias in August. The experience was alright with both pros and cons. Pros View -The view from the pool deck was amazing. Beautiful during the day or night. You can't get much better. Location -Situated between Fira and Imerovigli -Not a far walk to Fira. It's a beautiful walk, but be prepared for steep inclines. You will surely get a workout. -Located right along the famous hiking path -Near a reasonably priced convenience store (get bottled water at this store) -Near a good and reasonably priced gyro place Assistance -The people working at the hotel were very responsive prior to our trip. They made dinner reservations for us and arranged a car rental. They even rescheduled our dinner reservations when we arrived. Airport/port transportation -The hotel can arrange airport and port transportation. Transportation was timely and reliable. Can't remember but I think it was 20E Cons Room -The room we stayed in was incredibly small. I have traveled all over Europe, so I know that Europe has small rooms, but this was exceptionally small. Two suitcases and two small carry on bags do not fit. I kept getting hurt in the room because I could not fit--Bumped my leg on the bed multiple times. You don't spend much time in your room, but we did not enjoy the time we did spend in there. -Room did not even have a full length mirror! This was very annoying as I could not even see how my outfit looked before walking out the door. Breakfast -Breakfast was simple and appreciated but not much variety. I looked forward to their "item of the day." However, on our last day the "item of the day" was not delivered until after after we left, which was at 10:30. -There were fruit flies on the fruit. Gross Pool -A hotel with a pool seemed like a good idea. However, the water was absolutely FREEZING cold. We learned that this is the normal water temperature. This makes a pool pointless. Assistance -The hotel workers were not always precise with their directions. Directions to the bus stop?-- Up the hill by the church, Luckily we found it. It would have been nice to know how far up the hill, the backside of the church, and what the bus stop sign looked like. Would I stay here again? Maybe, if the price was right. Would I stay in the same room again? Never.
I cannot explain how pleased I am to have chosen to stay at this hotel as the views were the best even from our balcony. It is ideally located near to the main town Fira and also near to Imerovigli. More than anything you don't have to break the bank to stay here and the staff here provides the best possible service. We stayed at the family studio room and it had all the essential items. Rooms are neat and tidy and breakfast was wonderful during our stay. The hotel provides 5 star service at 3 star prices. Having travelled around the whole island, my best pics are from the hotel itself...I seriously cannot endorse more and recommend the hotel to the personnel keen to come to santorini.
This place is situated right in the middle of Imerovigli and Fira, making it a great place to stay if you want to explore the island. The bus stop to Oia/Airport is 5mins away, making it easy to lug all your luggage around without going down too many stairs. The rooms are really lovely, though the one I stayed in was small. It had a great bathroom though and was poolside, so had to be careful not to fall into the pool. Maybe not good for kids in that respect. The view is insane and easily will make your heart melt. The pool side area is lovely with lots of space to sit and a bar. The Villa is more of a villa rather than a luxury suite, but they do accommodate for those options. The sleep i and there was amazing - really good. Breakfast buffet was good, they have specials everyday. There is lots of restaurants in the area and a few mini markets for cheap beer etc. Overall, would def recommend to anyone who is going there and doesnt want to break the bank on luxury suites.
Location is perfect. 20min walk to the town Fira. Restaurant and shops all around. Mary is very friendly and informative. The view is beautiful , right in front is the volcano and best scenery. Room are very clean. Breakfast is great.
Came here in late October for our honeymoon. The staff treats you like royalty, breakfast delivered to your room daily, wonderful view from your private balcony, easy walk to Thira, highly recommend this place even when the weather doesn't cooperate!
We have had five nights staying at the beautiful Villa Ilias Hotel in Firostefani on Santorini. If I came back to the island, I would not consider staying anywhere else. It is a small family run hotel and you are warmly greeted and treated like friends by George and Mary. It is in an amazing location and our bedroom window looked down over the plain on the west side of the island but also over the white and blue architecture of Fira and into the crater - a view that it was impossible to tire of. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the included breakfast is a delight with a good range of dishes and a special different treat every day. The pool, deck and bar are beautiful and we quickly felt right at home. We will look back on our stay with much affection for the hotel and its people.
We had 3 enjoyable nights in the rooftop Monadikos Suite as a family of 4. The apartment was narrow and cosy but this was more than compensated for by the balcony view over the caldera and private spa pool. A great spot to enjoy the sunset. The villa is located at the top of the ridge so no steep steps down to negotiate although a couple of flights up to the roof. George and the rest of the team were excellent hosts, arranging taxis and providing restaurant recommendations. They provide an excellent breakfast with an additional "treat" each morning of a traditional Greek dish. The filo pastry filled with cream was especially good! There are restaurants and a market close by. Its about a 10 minute walk to Fira on pedestrian trail and there is a bus stop 5 mins walk away for Oia. The walk to Oia along the coastal path takes about 2 hours and offers great views. We found booking directly with hotel an easy and cost effective option. Highly recommend.
