This is a great choice if you are going to Santorini. Firostefani (where this hotel is located) has the perfect location between the main town of Thira and the most gorgeous town of Imerovigli. The view is one of the best from the Caldera because of it being at the top of it all. So don't worry about people looking at you when tanning by the pool. Diverse breakfast and super helpful staff at all times. The only thing would have to be that the pumps for the pool made some noise when sleeping (our room was at the pool level). But it was not a major problem and I couldn't recommend this hotel more.
We booked here without knowing Santorini, and it really is the perfect location - out of the hustle and bustle of Fira and great views over the caldera. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the views from the pool are great. The breakfasts were good with a daily 'dish of the day', and poolside drinks in the evening were lovely. Our room was small but adequate and pricewise it's good value considering the location.
My husband and I recently stayed in the best room in the house for our honeymoon and it honestly couldn’t have been better. The balcony is huge and private with uninterrupted panoramic views of the caldera. Even our shower had amazing views (see photo). There was no need to travel to Oia for sunset when you have the best view on the island from your own balcony! The pool area was perfect for a nice cool swim and a cocktail or wine, also with spectacular views. One of our favourite parts of each day was visiting George the bartender who looked after us so well with food, drinks and conversation. He even delivered a fantastic spread to our balcony one evening for sunset (see photo). George and Christina in reception were also so lovely and hospitable ensuring our every need was catered for. We enjoyed trying to learn new Greek words and practice with them each day and they were very encouraging. Breakfast was fantastic and Costa made delicious barrister style coffee, nice and strong. We visited the towns of Oia and Fira during our stay and we know we made the right choice staying at Villa Illias at Firastefani - it’s a great spot! We will be back to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.
We had a lovely stay at Villa Ilias and can't recommend them enough! The surrounding are beautiful and its location is wonderful: in Firostefani, away from all the hustle, but close enough to beautiful restaurants and with a wonderful view over the sunset and just a short walk to the centre of Fira and also Imerovigli. The view over the Caldera is amazing from the rooms and also from the pool! It is also very private. By the way you do not need to go somewhere else for a wonderful view over the sunset! The rooms are modern, clean, spacious and very nice. The breakfast is AMAZING, they produce and bake everything themselves and everything tastes wonderful . But the best about this place is the staff and owners - they are amazing people, who help you with everything! They arranged for an ATV, they give you great advice about what to do and what to see on the island, arranged for our transfer to the aiport and so much more. They are so friendly and wonderful people. Thank you so much for having us! We felt so welcome and we did not want to leave! We will definitely come back!
Look no further. This is the PERFECT place to stay. It is clean, modern, has breakfast and parking, the owner is professional and kind, and the sunsets are perfect. It is quite and in the perfect location to restaurants. Situated on a picturesque walking path, you will not be disappointed. Stop looking at other properties in this city which can be overwhelming. This is the one. There are also two church tops right next door which allow you to take the perfect Santorini picture. We dresses up in our Sunday best and took amazing morning pictures of the children and of the family.
After spending hours researching where to stay in Santorini we couldn’t of been happier with our decision the minute we arrived. Christina greeted us like it was her own home. The view from villa ilias’ pool is INCREDIBLE!!!!! We didn’t even bother to go anywhere else. Christina recommended some great restaurants and we also took her suggestion on doing a tour at Agrygos Winery Estates (HIGHLY recommend- beautiful and very reasonable winery). George the bartender is one of a kind. You will have some great conversation with him and he makes one hell of a drink. You can see his passion for hospitality. The staff were unreal. The rooms although small, were nice, clean and perfect for a couple night stay. We will remember this stay and will definitely be coming back when we return to Santorini!
We were so happy that we found this place in Santorini. The location is perfect and the view from our balcony was amazing. The spread at breakfast was huge and every day they make a special homemade Greek treat to try. This is on top of the gorgeous pastries, jams, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, bacon etc etc. would definitely recommend Villa Ilias if you want a place with a great view of the Caldera without the huge price tag.
Can't say enough good things about Villa Ilias and would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Santorini. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The views are absolutely stunning and blew me away from the first moment. The location in Firostefani was perfect for us. The breakfast provided was good and helped get us fueled up for our day out on the island. Christina helped book and arrange all our activities and transportation which was very convenient and made the trip much less stressful. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side, but they were completely sufficient and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. There are some amazing restaurants within a minute or two walking as well as other little shops like a mini market and souvenir shop so Firostefani has everything you need in a small area if you don't want to take the long walk to Fira. Bottom line, stay here and you won't ever want to leave.
I carefully researched hotels all over the island for our Santorini trip and chose to stay in Firostefani at the Villa Ilias and I am so glad I did! Absolutely nothing disappointed, it was just gorgeous from beginning to end. I needed two rooms ( 17 and 20 year old children were with us) so money was an object and I think we got the best value for ours. The view from our rooms, the balconies and the pool terrace was breathtakingly beautiful. I will never forget it. It was so relaxing to sit by the pool and gaze out at the caldera. At first I was worried that there were what looked like deckchairs and not sun loungers but I needn’t have worried as they were so comfortable and designed so you could relax. The pool was perfect for cooling off. Most hotel pools on the caldera side are quite small and I thought this one was a nice size. The bar at the pool was wonderful and George made the best cocktails ever! He was so friendly and entertaining and the children asked me to make sure to include in the review how brilliant George is! He made it extra special. We had a lovely welcome, in fact everyone there was friendly and the service was just superb. The hotel arranged our airport transfers which was really convenient. The rooms are not huge( particularly the bathrooms) but they were perfectly adequate and super clean with an authentic feel. We enjoyed the breakfasts every morning ( coffee was delicious!) and there was a good selection, plenty of choice and the daily extras were a nice surprise ( even though they made me feel v greedy)! Firostefani is the best place to stay in my opinion, it’s not too busy but has plenty of atmosphere and it’s an easy walk to Thira or to Imerovigli and it has the nicest places to eat ( just a few steps from the hotel) We stayed by the pool on the last day and used a shower room at the hotel to get changed, but it was very hard to drag ourselves away from the terrace! We were so sad to leave , we loved every moment at Villa Ilias. Thanks to everyone there for a beautiful holiday.
A friend and I stayed at Villa Ilias in late June when we were there for a best friends wedding. I’ll start out by saying this is a fantastic hotel, with an absolutely stunning view. Christina was very helpful in accommodating us and ensuring that we were totally taken care of - thanks again Christina! The pool (breathtaking view overlooking the caldera) is a GREAT spot to hangout, especially with George at the bar serving up some fantastic cocktails. Breakfast in the morning was also incredible and some of the best I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone - wether you are couple looking for a romantic getaway, a group of friends or a solo traveler on an adventure. You simply cannot go wrong with Villa Ilias!
