Met my friends, who are a family with a young son and come back every year. Was my first time at the hotel, but was overwhelmed with the warmth of the staff and the owners. We had a truly magical few days and have some wonderful memories.
Picked the Scorpios Hotel based on previous reviews and it was everything promised and MORE! The location is perfect for relaxing. Out of the way of the hustle and bustle of main tourist spots of Fira, Kamari and Oia the Scorpios Beach Hotel is a little oasis to return to after sightseeing amongst the throng of tourists and cruise ship tours. The hotel itself is made up of self contained apartments set out like traditional Greek accommodation, exceedingly clean, air conditioned and serviced daily. The pool is great for relaxing with a cracking little poolside bar/café serving food and drinks all day. You also have free access to the beach facilities just across from the hotel (Monolithos beach in my opinion is far superior to the one in Kamari). Finally and most importantly what really makes the Scorpios Beach Hotel the perfect place to stay in Santorini (and what will ensure I will definitely return) is the staff. I have experienced a more friendly and accommodating group of staff in any other hotel I have stayed in. Literally nothing is a problem for them and everything is done with a smile. I am sorry that I didn't get everyone's name ( you should all be very proud of the job you are doing to make us tourists feel welcome) but want to make special mention to Pedros (who drove us about the island when we required him and picked us up on time every time with a smile and recommendations of what to do and see and where to eat) and CeCe (who looked after us every day at the pool, serving drinks and food with a real joy). Thank you everyone at the Scorpios for ensuring that our first (and will certainly not be our last) visit to Santorini was memorable and I would not consider staying anywhere else now on this beautiful island!!!!!
We recently visited Santorini to attend a family wedding, due to financial constraints we decided not to stay with the main wedding party in Perissa, but opted for Scorpious Beach roughly half an hour away. This was definitely the right choice. Even before we arrived I contacted the hotel to discuss some arrangements for the wedding. The hotel manager, Susanna was amazing she told us not to worry about anything as there would not be any problems. This was a great relief as my wife and daughter were bridesmaids. On arrival in Santorini we got a taxi to the hotel which cost 25 euro's however if I'd thought about it I should have contacted Susanna who would have sent the hotel mini bus to collect us for 15 euro's, but never mind I'll remember this for next time. We arrived at the hotel to a very warm welcome from Susanna and other hotel staff, check in was straight forward and we were shown to our room/apartment. Which was spacious and airy ideal for what we wanted so no disappointment there. The pool area was quite small compared to large chain hotels but this appealed to us and was ample for our family of 5. There is a bar area by the pool where the staff will serve you drinks and snacks. Breakfast was a cold buffet style with lots of choice even for our 5 year old, this was served in a breakfast area on the first floor above reception. We opted for half board so our evening meal was also included. This was something we were not used to, normally you would go to the dining room and have a full range of foods to choose from, but here the chef Raphael let you know what he was preparing the night before, therefore you knew it was freshly produced. The evening meal was served on the veranda at the side of the pool and consisted of three courses. A traditional Greek Starter, the Main, again a traditional Greek dish and a desert. I must admit we were a little concerned at first with the lack of choice but can honestly say that we never went hungry and we enjoyed every meal we had throughout our stay. Rapheal even catered for our 5 year old who is a picky eater at the best of times. There were other staff helping at meal times unfortunately we didn't get all their names, but there was one young lady called Sissy who would always go above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, even though some nights she was rushed off her feet. She had time for the kids and made special friends with our youngest. Our room was checked every morning by the maids, and towels were changed if we left them on the floor, I must say our room was always spotless and the two ladies always spoke and were very friendly. As far as the location of the hotel, the beach is a short walk across the road, it is a little out of the way of all the more busy areas on the island however the hotel has a minibus with a very friendly driver called Pedro. This guy was always smiling and again always went out of his way to help, he drove us to the hotel we needed to get to for the wedding and even stopped on the way so we could take photos of the view. He has scheduled runs on a daily basis to Thira and Kamari for a small charge, cheaper than a taxi. I'm sure if there was somewhere you needed to be and he was free he would be able to take you. Again Pedro made time for all the kids but I think his favourite was our youngest who became his best friend by the end of the week. All in all I have to say this will go down as one of our favourite hotels, I would highly recommend it and we will definitely return to hopefully see Susanna and the rest of the team. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable :)
Regardless of this hotel being on the other side of the island from Oia and Fira, it is a great value for the price you pay. Clean, spacious rooms and the staff (specifically the lady at the front desk) is quite helpful and accommodating - our flight landed very early in the day but she had a room ready for us to check in. There is a bus stop within a 5 minute walking distance from the hotel's front door that will quickly take you to the main areas all over Santorini. There is also a beach right in front of this hotel's property - my wife and I enjoyed the sunrise views but didn't get a chance to go in the water. Great Stay!
We stayed 2 nights here, got a studio room which had a kitchen, the room size is probably the largest you will see in Santorini, the room is very clean, well maintained with a big balcony. While only 2 of us stayed, the room could have easily accommodated 5 people. The staff is very courteous and helpful, pool is fantastic, its right opposite to monolithos beach, however, a 15 min bus ride away from Fira. The bus stop is right outside the hotel, so that way convenient. If we go back to Santorini, will stay here again for sure!!
In the hotel we were very warmly welcomed. staff is very helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. Quality of sleep very good. The breakfast is for Greek situation is very good. Offer fresh fruit at breakfast is good. Across the street is a long beach with a playground. On the beach there are also some trees. If we go again on holiday we choose the Scorpions beach hotel.
We arrived Sept 24 for a weeks relaxation , initially we were impressed , having arrived late we wanted to sleep but we found the first room very noisy due to what sounded like a generator running all night .The next morning we asked to be moved due to the annoying noise , the owners denied there was a noise but they moved us anyway to a new room , very accomadating . The next day we discovered that the hotel is next door to the main electricity generating plant for the whole island , why didn't they just admit it instead of denying there was even a noise . The biggest problem we found was there was very little choice in the way of drinks and the constant running out of basic breakfast items I.e eggs , coffee , pastries . By the end of the week there was nothing at all in the drinks fridge , virtually no choice of beer no spirits , baileys etc and by the day we left they couldn't even supply us with 2 cappucinos ! We felt short changed because we had paid the same rate as some guests who had stayed in high season but did not get anywhere near the same level of facilities as they probably had , we found out that the hotel actually closes for the season in mid October . The day we left there was a party of 46 elderly guests arriving , I dread to think what they were going to be given to eat or drink. The owners to be fair were always pleasant and polite even giving us a lift to the airport to collect our hire car to save us the taxi fare , it's a shame they ran it down to the bare bones it did really spoil our stay it could be a really quaint , quiet family hotel with a little more investment . The village itself is really quiet with only 3 restaurants and 2 other hotels but we hired a car and found most of the island easily accessible from here. We ate most nights at Captain Loizos in the village as we were farmed out there for our evening meal as part of our half board , the food and staff in here were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you ! Avoid the pizza restaurant though , food was ok but atmosphere ......none , it was run by a guy who resembled Mr Bean ! Overall I wouldn't return to the hotel , the island is beautiful but would probably recommend staying in Kamari , everything was much more at hand and there seemed to be a vast choice of shops ,bars and restaurants here. We found Fira and Oea , the two main resorts very picturesque and worth a visit but even this late in the season VERY busy with cruise ship passengers visiting each day , I wouldn't like to visit here mid season it would be unbearable in the small confined streets Conclusion : Santorini is beautiful and worth seeing but choose hotel location carefully and time of year .
Don't be concerned by the large chimney you see next to the hotel, it is defunct & the small factory below it decommissioned. Although 200m the other side is the Island's main electricity generating plant, which at times offers a rather annoying buzzing sound. Generally the sound of the superb AC in the very sizeable bedrooms masks it. So not a real worry. You are very close to the airport, if a plane takes off it can be noisy. We spent most days exploring the island, so were not affected by this, but if you are going to laze by the small but lovely pool, I guess it can be a bit noisy. The staff are all a dream to be served by, willing & always keen to help. Having been a little critical. I still think this is an excellent place to stay if you want to travel the whole island. There is a bus stop just 50metres from the front door, be prepared for a shock as all the buses are modern top quality coaches, mostly Mercs, Fira is just 15mins & all other towns just a short, pleasant coach ride away. The Aegean just 20 metres across the road is very warm & Monolithos beach, very pleasant once you get used to the black sand, which most Brits may find a little disconcerting, as we are spoiled with golden strands. Well done Suzanna & Stephanie for keeping the staff so well organised & polite. Breakfasts, were continental & good quality, very pleasant open air & indoor breakfast eating areas. Good draft beers available with small but interesting menu around the pool area. If you like a quiet unfussy place to stay away from the hoards who just come to see the sunset over the Caldera, this is it. Just Superb Taverna only 60metres from front door. Bon Voyage!
Myself and my Partner have just returned from a week at this Hotel. We loved it. The room was amazing, and the Staff were so lovely and helpful. We were Half Board, and we were really impressed by the quality of the meals. The only downside was the beach which is free to use for Hotel Guests, but the beach just next door is lovely.
