Great

Its aight place

Very bad area. Outdated, old and disappointing.

I did not like the food that was served it was mostly the same stuff everyday.

fe and I enjoyed our 5 days vacation at whala, with great service from staff, bartenders and receptionists, especially Ernesto who was great. Did not start off well and was not placed in the building 6 I had emailed requested but put up for one night in building 2 which is the older but quiet side during the night. We then got moved next day to building 6 which is newer but louder at night as this is where the shows stage is located. The music lasted until like 11-12pm, but this was okay with us as we slept later and for $70 usd a night for 2 persons- we got our money worth. The rooms are not the greatest, but building 5 and 6 looks newer with better facilities- but can be louder at night. The food was good and tasty, the cocktails and beer were delicious and satisfied us all week. The beach was okay and there was lots to do in the evenings around boca chica- if you like to drink or eat. We also tried the a la carte Italian which alternates with Mexican food in the same restaurant on certain nights, free for guests- food at Italian was good. Easy buses to Santo Domingo from the park around the hotel, and Ole supermarket about 10 mins walk north is good for local cigars, rum and coffee- no bargaining required and they accept credit cards. If landing at sdq airport Santo Domingo, don’t fall for the Uber scam drivers who wanted me to pay them $30 instead of the $6 Uber charge- better to take taxi for same price. Overall good stay at whala and the small negatives are outweighed

Good location, facilities are dated, not too many activities but good value for the price.

Everything was good... Although they could keep the food warmer, food tasty just keep it warmer .... But overall we had a nice time...

Beach

Pros Great location Private beach Free food and drinks Clean Great staff Cons Have to rent towels for beach area Not enough towels in room and they take them when they clean the room and don’t give you fresh ones until 4 hours after they have cleaned the room

Property was messy but imagine hundreds of people walking around eating and drinking and leaving garbage everywhere. That’s how this resort was a lot of drunk parents not watching their children trying to take back the locals to their rooms to be freaky with them. This is a place to not bring your kids it’s an all day party that starts promptly around breakfast and ends shortly before 2am. Definitely would recommend to single people who want to have a good time for cheap. The room was okay the fan sounded like it was going to fly off and the tv or connection to the internet worked only 1 of my 7 days there. The snacks they offer hotdogs and some meat they try and pass off as beef hamburgers are not edible unless you’re super drunk and lose your taste buds. Snacks should offer something light not stale disgusting foods. The buffet style all inclusive meals were very disappointing I ate on property 3 times while there before I decided it was clear that I needed to go to the pay restaurants within the resort to get a decent meal. The pool is open from 7am-7pm then they start pouring chemicals in even if you’re still climbing out of the pool. They never have enough towels and they don’t change out your bed sheets when you allow them to clean the room. They remake the bed with the same sand filled sheets and take the towels you have from the room leaving you to have to keep calling the front desk to get them to bring you more. They walk into your room without knocking!

The food is not the best but is ok for the price

The people who worked here are great! The staff is attentive and puts your mind at ease. This resort is all inclusive however food is done buffet style and at times can be inedible. Snacks are considered to be their version of stale hot dogs and nasty unidentifiable meat they call hamburgers. I’d suggest they updated their snack choices to allot for something actually edible. It was nice but bring extra money to eat at the two non included restaurants in the middle of the property. Drinks are strong but also too sweet and yes alcohol is a part of the all inclusive stay here. Overall the property is beautiful the location is easy to find but they do have a lot of people who harass you to buy things while you’re sitting on the beach. Security does a good job at making them leave you alone but it doesn’t always work! I’d stay here again.

Ok resort to enjoy the area and stay somewhere all inclusive relatively close to the airport. Won’t blow you away but better than most places.

Bad

It’s was very nice hotel

Low price

Spend my entire stay with no TV..koz they wouldnt give me a remote..I aske like 5 times. Food is, useless and tasteless. There are enough flies to invade a small country in the restaurants. The floor where I was at Stinks. Its as if the owner of this place neeeever stays in it or send people to test their services. They need to hust call themselves a Hotel and leave the all invlusive business to other people.

I never stayed at this hotel they canceled my reservation 3 days before I was leaving and trying to get a representative on the phone to find another hotel was even more impossible. I had to find my own accommodations all I want is my money back from these thieves!
