10/10- this hotel has literally everything under control! My partner and I checked in initially for 1 night for her birthday, I extended this another 2 nights. The attention to detail is unmeasurable. I asked our waiter/go to man (Alfonzo) if he could arrange some music of my choice/ lighting and a table arrangement to help celebrate my partners birthday- he couldn’t of got it more right! 👍 The morning after kitchen had closed after breakfast 11.30am - the staff were more than happy to re-open to cook up a superb breakfast- no questions asked. Throughout the days spent by the courtyard pool the staff were always on hand, fresh drinks, bites to eat, fresh towels along with running up stairs to turn the hot tub on to ensure it was ready in the evening. We enjoyed the spa treatments, again superb service and very reasonably priced. The hotel is kept immaculate by the great housekeeping staff. We had the hotel almost to ourselves it seemed and everything at our disposal. A special thank you to Alfonzo who really went above the regular level of service, a credit to the hotel! ⭐️ Would stay for longer next time without a second thought!
We stayed for a 2-night weekend and couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel has a wonderful, ever-smiling staff and they go out of the way to please you. I asked for a thermos of hot coffee in my room in the morning and they willingly obliged, although there is technically no room service. Our room was on the 3rd floor - quite a hike up - but we had a wonderful view of the cathedral and the government offices on the main square. High-count cotton sheets, towels and L'Occitane ammenities in the bathroom made it feel luxurious. The hotel location is right where you want to be - 2 blocks from the restaurants, bars and cafes....yet on a very quiet street. We will return.
We only had 1 night here before our lost city trek, it would have been better to have had a bit longer as Santa Marta had such a great atmosphere and the hotel was lovely. We had room 9 ME - Maurice Ernesto a deluxe room which was very spacious and comfortable. We had a welcome cocktail provided to us in our room, the bathroom had supplies of L'Occitane toiletries and the service was great. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty, located a short walk from the sea and also a short walk the other way into the center where all the restaurants are.
Hotel Boutique Don Pepe is truly not to be missed. Every detail is carefully thought out. We especially enjoyed relaxing massages, delicious breakfast, surprise tropical smoothies, strolls by the water front, and the highly attentive, kind staff. This hotel also offers access to a lovely private beach for swimming and enjoying freshly prepared seafood. Thank you Juan Vives (owner) for your hospitality and infectious love of this beautiful spot. We will definitely stay here again.
Everything is perfect. The owner is in charge of everything. The staff is super friendly. Every corner have an history. Super romantic and the food is delicious. The arrange a romantic table for my anniversary as a courtesy for my husband an and me. Very nice gesture from everybody. Love the place!
Hotel Don Pepe was like an oasis after a gruelling 4 day hike to Ciudad Perdida, not only was the bed the most comfortable thing I've ever managed to get myself on, but the room was huge, the temperature just right (even though is was very hot outside). The spa was a god send and the massages were perfect for our aching muscles. The staff were super attentive but not in your face, helped with taxis the following day. Not only were they perfect in every way but I had foolishly left our passports in Cartagena, they arranged for collection and stored them in their safe ready for our arrival, they managed everything perfectly. The hotel itself is a beautiful colonial building with a couple of roof terraces and views over the city, there's also I courtyard pool to cool off if needed. Our stay was just what we needed and helped cure our aches and pains.... The only slight negative was the hot water was lacking but it just took one phone call.
This is a beautiful colonial home, renovated by the owner Don Juancho, who mentioned to us, he had done all the work without removing walls!,so this home is a real gem. The magic of the hotel is the service, the team here aimes to pumper as opposed to service; they go out of their way to ensure you feel as if you were the most important guest here. We loved the restaurant, the chef is just fantastic every dish we had was awesome and delicious. The lady at the front desk is king, nice smiles all the time and like the rest of the staff is wonderful. Don Juancho the owner, truly makes you feel as if we had been friends forever, he shared his love for photographing the sun and the moon, and by the way WOW!! He is a kind gentleman who exemplifies the behavior of the team at the hotel, a family feeling I would recommend this hotel, to anyone, without any reservation. If find yourself traveling to Santa Marta, you own it to yourself to be treated like royalty. Thank you team Don Pepe, you are the BEST!!!
As I write this review about a week after I stayed at this property, I'm literally craving the most delicious pancakes, made to order, every morning at this property. That was only the beginning. Every person who worked at this hotel provided superior service. They really cared about me as a guest and the needs of my stay. The bedroom was beautiful and it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Even more than my very own bed with a ridiculously expensive mattress. The location was great as a home base for exploring the many restaurants (try Lulo and El Balcon, very close!) and the ocean was just a block away. Great location, great pancakes, great service, great bed.
I can't explain in a quick review how the hotel exceeded our expectations. The architecture, the rooms but most importantly the service. They guided us to great restaurants, adventures and took care of us as if we were part of their family. It is what a boutique hotel should strive to be. Thanks for a wonderful trip.
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Don Pepe upon our arrival in Santa Marta and then again a week later after concluding business elsewhere. The owner not only recommended a delightful restaurant he also had his knowledgeable an articulate driver tour us to interesting local areas at no charge! The entire staff are simply the Best! I gifted a pair of shoes to a staff member then discovered in Cartagena that I’d forgotten to remove my $500 custom made insoles! We contacted The Boutique Hotel Don Pepe and the insoles were sent via a private car at no additional expense to us. This definitely is a hotel with Heart! Gracias por todo Don Pepe!
