Great location but not worth the price

Power was out on the first night of stay - super annoying and had to switch hotels. Upgraded our room so we weren’t staring out at the parking lot ( most rooms do) and the room was stark bare with 1 odd picture adorning the walls and only decaf coffee in the room

This was hands down the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced, and I would never recommend the Mar Monte Hotel to anyone. When we arrived for check-in, we had two very tired, crying babies with us. Our room was not ready, and instead of showing even the slightest bit of empathy or professionalism, Nick at the front desk was incredibly rude and dismissive. He didn’t care about our situation, didn’t apologize, and made what was already a stressful moment even worse. As if that wasn’t enough, when we retrieved our car from valet, it was returned to us with a flat tire. We had to call AAA and have the car towed to a tire shop — an unbelievable and unacceptable inconvenience, especially after paying nearly $1,000 a night for this stay. The Mar Monte Hotel is not worth a single penny. Between the rude staff, the lack of basic hospitality, and the complete disregard for guests, this was by far the worst hotel experience of my life. Save your money and your sanity — stay anywhere else.

Mildew smell

We were initially put in a room in building 1 which smelled like mold and mildew. Upon complaining about the strong odor we were moved to building 3 which was better. However, still a slight mildew odor. The pool is small and overcrowded. Great location across from the beach and the staff was accommodating.

Staff was very dismissive. Common areas are all updated but the rooms are terrible for the cost. Our ocean view was blocked by multiple trees, should not be considered an ocean view room. Advertise bikes and beach chairs included in resort fee but have very limited inventory. Cleaning crew started making noise very early around 630 woke us up. Not a great experience for celebrating our wedding anniversary

It was out third time here and a great hotel but this time we paid extra for the "ocean view" room which ended up being above the pool with an obstructed ocean view. The kids and music at the pool kept us awake from 7am to 10pm and was not relaxing at all. Definitely not worth the extra money for the upgrade and had us leaving very disappointed

The property was lovely and directly across from the beach. They offered bikes and beach chairs to use. They have coffee in the morning in the lobby, water at pool and in the lobby and in buildings next to ice machine to fill your own bottles. Both the pool area and the open air seating off the lobby has nice chairs, couches and fire pits / fire tables to hang with family and friends. The staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the large size and beds were very comfortable. We will definitely return to the property!

A couple of restaurant staff were not the most enthusiastic to please guests. Valet guys were great. We asked for an additional chair(3 guests) and only 1 chair was provided. The front desk was going to send up a second chair, but nothing ever arrived and no call back. Kind of disappointing

We come to Santa Barbara often and our favorite place is the Mar Monte Hotel. The woman, Caroline, at the front desk made it even better for us by helping of choose a room that was perfect. She was so kind and efficient and friendly. Thank you so much. We'll be back!

Nice lobby-lounge, pool area with poolside bar/restaurant, and workout room. Hotel is located across street from beach - this place is a fantastic value. Rooms are nicely appointed but on the small side. Although with all the great things to do outside - you won't be spending a lot of time there. Our family of four enjoyed our stay.

Romantic and lovely place on the beach! Staff and accommodations were amazing, with extremely comfortable rooms and unique bathrooms. Highly recommend and look forward to returning soon! Love this place!

The staff was very attentive, personable and knowledgeable. The pool area was perfectly relaxing. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would say needs improvement is that they need a kids menu. Our room came with a credit for breakfast and it was hard to find something for the grand children.
