All the staff from the check-in and check-out staff, to the breakfast staff, the housekeeping, etc. were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel has easy access off of I-80 and is near a Shell gas station/subway. Any other fast food joints/restaurants are further away; the hotel pool is under renovation and we didn't know that, but we also didn't end up having time to use the pool.
I'm not sure why some folks had issues with this place. I've stayed a lots of hotels that offer free breakfasts, and this place is a solid offering. The décor is pretty modern, and everything was in excellent shape and in good repair. In fact, the hotel seemed liked it might have been recently renovated, as many things appeared to be new. The hotel is located just off of the Ohio Turnpike, and there is a gas station just one block over. The free breakfast was standard continental fair with the addition of a few hot items, like pre-made omelets and sausage links. The breakfast area offered something I've never seen before, which was an automatic pancake machine. Waffle irons are often found at free breakfast hotels, but I've never seen an automatic pancake machine that will make you two pancakes at the push of a button! Too bad the pancakes that came out were pretty strange. We were one of the first ones down to breakfast as we had to leave very early, and I was the first to make pancakes for the day. The first batch came out elongated, and the underside was not cooked. The second batch was slightly better, but the underside was underdone. Maybe the machine just takes a little bit to get warmed up? I didn't have time to wait longer, but it would have liked to have given it another whirl as the pancakes seemed to be getting better with each subsequent batch and push of the button. Although the hotel is near the turnpike, we didn't hear any road noise at all in the room. The hotel was not busy, which probably helped contribute to the quietness. Staff at the desk was very nice and pleasant, and we had a nice overnight stay here on our way through Ohio. I would stay here again.
I stay in a number of chain hotels when I travel for business , including HEI's. This one is average to slightly below. My room was clean but common areas could have been swept and tidied up. Evening desk staff was pleasant and helpful. It seems like it is need of a rehab or facelift.
This hotel is conveniently located just off I-80. It was easy to find. The front desk person was helpful. The room was clean, though lighting was inadequate. The breakfast was average, standard Holiday Inn fare. A decent stay.
We weren't planning on stopping overnight, but driving from MA to WI in one fell swoop proved to be too much. Luckily, we found a place to pull off that had overnight options for us. We checked in very late at night and we were thankful that they had a few food options available at the front desk area. After a full day of driving, a microwaved Kraft macaroni and cheese cup actually hit the spot. Our room was comfortable (especially the beds). The bench in the room looked kind of gross (strange stains), though. There is a pool, but we wound up not using it (back on the road early). The breakfast area was nice and spacious. They had a nice variety of food and even had a neat pancake machine! Hot food was nice and hot. We were double-billed (we paid via Expedia before checking in, but had a bill under our door in the morning), but the morning staff was able to quickly clear things up. Staff was friendly and helpful.
My room was a large, clean, spacious suite. However, the whirlpool in the tub did not work, and there was no explanation given to me. The hotel is conveniently located, but the common area and breakfast were awkward as they were being used while undergoing extensive renovation. A bit pricey for all the inconvenience
We stayed for two nights while visiting Cedar Point in Sandusky. The room & bathroom were clean & the free breakfast was just ok. We were on the 2nd floor & heard kids running upstairs @ midnight. Overall it was a good stay.
We stayed here on our way home to Canada from a Tennessee road trip. The hotel was nice and clean but we came as a Platinum member and were placed on a floor with a group. They were loud and children in the halls until we called down at 1030pm It was taken care of and we had a great visit!!
My hubby and I stayed here overnight on our way to put in bay for the weekend. We called a lot of hotels and they were all booked but we got lucky with this one! We were told the property is only 5 years old and it is beautiful! The entire hotel is very nice and clean and we thought it was brand new. We got a king suite as that's all they had left but it was great! The bed was huge and very comfortable, I didn't want to get out of the shower as it was wonderful as well! We are breakfast the morning we left and it was very impressive as well. Lots of choices and everything tasted really good. We didn't want to leave we liked it so much! We will definitely be staying at more holiday inn express hotels on our future travels!
The room was fine -- could have been a little cleaner (upholstered chair was questionable). Unfortunately, I was in a room close to the main lobby and was awakened by voices at 3:30 am. The most unpleasant aspect, however, was the staff. We had a business meeting in a conference room, prearranged with a call to the hotel. Evidently, that was not communicated to other staff and there was confusion and, frankly, unpleasantness with the front desk person. I ended up paying for the conference room, but feel it could have been handled much better. Will not stay here again if I am back in the area.
