The breakfast was out of most items, including coffee by 8:00 a.m. there were only a few scraps of cold scrambled eggs, and cold potatoes. It took 25 minutes to refill hot foods, fruit and coffee while guests waited around in a line. When I expressed to the the front desk person that the hotel needs to improve planning, this was met with an unwillingness to take ownership on behalf of the hotel, a "not my job" response. Upon my check out, the same person was at the buffet getting food with other employees and returned to the front desk chewing food and was fairly dismissive in processing my room check out. Overall, the rooms are nice, but the service today did not match the 9.4 rating I saw while making the reservation.
Wonderful hotel
Newer property, great location, easy to walk to local shops and eateries, as well as along the river.
Very clean, helpful staff, nice breakfast
I did not like my bed it was too hard and stiff. The mattress was like sleeping on the ground.
The staff went above and beyond to help us with our needs and to give area information. We will never
Wonderful friendly staff, clean environment. Excellent food.
Beautiful hotel, a hidden gem
This property is a hidden gem. My girlfriend and i could not believe what a glorious hotel with such picturesque views could be so affordable. We stayed in two separate rooms. Both where spacious , beautiful and most importantly comfortable. It felt like we where staying at a wealthy uncles estate in the country. The balconies and views where stunning. The food at the Independence was top notch. It was a little on the pricier side. But the portions and quality where worth it. We will look forward to spending more time at The Independence and introducing our friends and family to this hidden gem. Thank you for such a overwhelmingly glorious stay.
Friendly staff. Right on the river.

Good morning Julie! Thank you for sharing your feedback after your most recent stay. Mattresses can be a very personal thing, and I understand that ours may not be everyone's favorite. Although our hotel is only 2.5 years old, most of our mattresses weren't even used for the 1st year of our operation due to COVID. Each one is uniquely made here in Oregon, and 100% custom to our hotel. I'm happy to hear that everything else went well during your stay, and hope that you have a great summer!

Hello Trent! I LOVE seeing posts like this. So many people don't know about Independence, and what a thriving community it is becoming. We love being here, and helping people experience our town. We feel that there are two things that are the most important at any hotel you stay at; service and cleanliness. These are things we preach on a daily basis, and i'm happy that you got to experience us at our highest level. We appreciate you being our guest, and look forward to hosting you on your next adventure.
