I like the Campanile group of hotels - they are not pretentious, just good value, clean and comfortable. The restaurants are similar good value and choice. I particularly like the secure parking areas especially as the car is loaded with clothes etc.
When looking for a night stop before catching the ferry, St Malo has so many hotels it is difficult to choose if you don't know any of them. I liked this one because it was fairly close to the port had secure parking and had a restaurant. My room was very good with a comfortable bed and good quality linen. The bathroom looked newly re-furbished with a shower screen round the bath, so many only have a curtain, ugh, and a luxurious choice of shower heads, better than mine at home and fluffy towels. The restaurant had also been given an update and my meal was perfectly cooked and presented, and the house wine was very pleasant. The staff were helpful and friendly, in fact I hadn't realized I had dropped my credit card in the car park until I received an email from them when I got home telling me and offering to send it back to me. If there was anything to have a moan about it was that the walls were a bit thin and I could hear the people walking about overhead but even that was a minor problem.
We stopped here the night before our ferry back home to the UK. It was an ideal stopover -- clean, comfortable and close to the port. There's a restaurant on site which serves a good evening meal and an excellent breakfast. I would certainly stay here again.
With the Campanile group of hotels you know what you're getting before you get there. They're simple, clean and you usually get an acceptable meal and breakfast but these are extra. Don't expect room service or any other luxuries that come with a more up market hotel, but the basics are there such as in-room TV , coffee & tea making facilities. I also like it that you get secure parking. The locations are generally not in the most convenient position but this is reflected by the price you pay. I use the Campanile hotels for an overnight stop to or from a ferry crossing. They offer good value. This particular one is no exception.
We got a very reasonable room rate, just staying one night as we got off the ferry on our way through France and so weren't expecting too much. The place is a classic "motel" construction, but when we got inside were pleasantly surprised to find that the rooms had obviously been refurbished. Rooms were quite small, but hey you only need a bed and a bathroom. It was well kitted out and had lovely large white towels, good bed linen and comfortable beds. What more could you want? Would stay here again, but may eat outside the Campanile as we felt the food was pricey.
My husband & I & a couple of friends stayed here for 4 nights. It is a while since we have used Campanile although we live in France. It was extremely comfortable & spotlessly clean. The restaurant was also very good even for just a snack in the evening as we had eaten out at lunch time. What we noticed especially was the helpfulness & friendliness of the staff. Virginia & Gilliane were great fun & even the chef Phillipe was very chatty. The prices were also reasonable & on leaving they all hoped we would come back again! The only suggestion we would like to make is they put hand rails in the bath as it was difficult to get out & when having a shower only it was rather slippery. Well done.
Good breakfast and bed comfortable. Shower head and bathroom very good. Access from car good for those with limited mobility. Pity about the alarm going off ~ otherwise a good clean hotel with polite staff.
This Campanile was a great improvement on the one we used last year on our trip to France. The bed was extremely confortable and the bathroom was fantastic. The restaurant was very good indeed - we had a superb meal at very reasonable price. Thank you.
used the hotel as a stopover after arriving on the ferry. A good location on the route out of the port. I found the bed very comfortable but if you like a soft mattress, you will not. Poor phone reception in the rooms and a lot of people seemed to be outside using theirs and not too quietly, either. Walls are thin and what goes on in the rooms certainly does not stay in the rooms! There is a restaurant attached but i did not use it. Parking is in a secure area.
Well placed chain hotel next to main route into St Malo. In a small village with restaurants and shops. Room very well presented and comfortable. Kettle a bonus. Bathroom very clean. Had a problem with the bath, staff sorted it immediately and professionally. Will definitely use again.
